Trip To London - Essex Social 25th March

    And yet no Manchester meet?

    Lauren's GT86 100K miles and onwards

I think it's probably the best mod I've done purely from a driveability perspective.

    Snetterton Trackday April 27th

I'm happy to take passengers out.

    Decision made :-)

Also the stock midpipe will fit with the seats down, without fouling the gearstick (just).

I got impatient on the dyno graph, so here's a pic of the paper copy: Check out that beauty! Green is before, grey is after (obviously).

Yes, the 205 is with the exhaust bits on, but that's still pretty good for a few bolt ons, means it must have been making close to 200 stock I think. Torque is good, very good. On the dyno it's hitting 170 lb-ft peak, but it's over 160 from 4000 right through to 7000, and it's above 150 from 2500 up. Went for a bit of a blast just now and it's really nice to drive, so much better than it was. I also tried to record the exhaust sound for those interested, but my phone mangled it too badly. I'll have to have a try with the phone further from the car or try my proper camera.

A good choice, and one I suspect you won't regret.
  8. Had a blast in this today, such an awesome car. Much more linear delivery than you'd expect from a turbo and goes like a train. Also, wastegate flutter.

Update time! I was down at TD in Warrington today for a remap. Turns out my car makes good power from the factory as it made 205 BHP before mapping. A remap has taken that to 216 BHP and smoothed out the torque curve nicely. Not had a proper blast yet as Saturday traffic wasn't the best, but power delivery feels a bit smoother so far. A quick pic I snapped earlier. Dyno charts to follow when Mike sends them to me.
  10. Same problem I had with insurance. It goes so slowly.
  11. To expand on this, it alters the gear ratios of every gear at once. The basic transmission setup is: Engine - Gearbox - Propshaft - Final Drive - Wheels. The gear ratio is determined by the gearbox and the final drive (and to an extent the wheels). Changing the ratio of the final drive will make gears longer (lower revs for same speed), or shorter (higher revs for same speed). In the case of these, they shorten the gears, since instead of the wheels turning once for each 4.1 rotations of the propshaft, they turn once for each 4.44 or 4.67 rotations of the propshaft. This means higher revs for the same speed, but also due to increased mechanical advantage, more torque at the wheels. They should work out as around 8% or 14% increased torque for the 4.44 and 4.67 respectively.
  12. Really too early to tell on the weather. Anything further than about 5 days of forecasting is basically just pulling weather out of a hat.
  13. There's also the MFactory calculator for final drive changes: http://calc.teammfactory.com/index.php?kmh=0&tirewidth=215&tireprofile=45&wheelsize=17&tirediameter1=24.62&maxrpm1=7400&finaldrive1=4.1&gearratio1=3.626&gearratio2=2.188&gearratio3=1.541&gearratio4=1.213&gearratio5=1.000&gearratio6=0.767+&trannytype=&trannytype=&tirewidth2=215&tireprofile2=45&wheelsize2=17&tirediameter2=24.62&maxrpm2=7400&finaldrive2=4.67&gearratioa=3.626&gearratiob=2.188&gearratioc=1.541&gearratiod=1.213&gearratioe=1.00&gearratiof=0.767&trannytype=&tranny=Calculate+Transmission+1+%26+2&trannytype= That link has GT86 ratios in.
  14. I'd have thought that was a little short on a SC car?
  15. Stop tempting me! I have been considering the 4.44 final drive...
  16. Booked in to Seaview hotel for the 10th, still trying to find somewhere for the 11th. Can I grab the spare bed for the 12th? 13th I should be able to stay in Aberdeen again. Edit: I'm booked in the Morven B&B next door to the Smoo Cave on the 11th.

    Manchester - 17/2/16

@Mike did you manage to check the pub out at weekends? We should get this north west meet going.

I have the 1320 performance manifold and overpipe.

Yes. Stock front pipe is still in, so I have the cat there.

Yes, there's heat shielding on the manifold, my cheapskate way of trying to reduce heat soak. I'll try to get a video during the week, it's a bit late now to be revving my car up.
  21. Work approved my holidays, so I'm back on for this.

Success! I managed to borrow the time and garage of a friend this afternoon and got my catback fitted. I also remembered to take pics. The noise difference for having the catback on is phenomenal. While just having the manifold fitted made it a bit louder, it now is properly loud, with a lovely low rumble at idle which develops into a raspy roar when you boot it. So, on to the pics. First a couple of pics I took yesterday while fitting the manifold of the stock system. A bit dirty, but my car has done just over 15,000 miles. A pic from this morning of the manifold before I refitted the undertrays, nice and shiny: On to this afternoon, stock stripped off and ready for the new catback. And here it is! Yes I know the car really needs a wash, but fitting the exhaust had to take priority.

Yes in first thing Saturday. Hopefully with a catback!

Fuel pump chirp, just live with it?

Mine is very stiff into first when cold, it's a case of full stop and give it a couple of tries usually. No problems with the other gears, and it's all fine when it warms up.

Yes the milltek is flat flange. According to a post on ft86club you can just pop the donut gasket off. I'm going to have a crack this afternoon I think. In the meanwhile I refitted the undertrays this morning, and got a few snaps of the new manifold in situ while I was at it. I'll post them later.
