Mine just after its pre-Bedford wash.
-
Yup that was me. I'd run a bit wide on that turn myself earlier so was being pretty careful with it. I thought you'd got away with nothing more that a bit of mud on the car.
-
Dan were you in the blue BRZ I saw trundling through the grass towards the end of the day?
-
Top day out. I manage to not even spin, and the tyres and brakes appear to still work, so double bonus. Great to see everyone there, roll on the next one!
-
I might be there fairly soon after 5, though probably closer to 6.
-
£56 here: clicky
-
£80 fitted on black circles for those. Aim for that sort of price.
-
I'm aiming for 5-6 I think.
-
I've not swapped mine yet, but I'm planning to get a remap to get rid of it.

In 225 width there's a few new options: Pilot Sport 4s and F1 Eagle Assymetric 3s. Both reputedly better than the tyres they replace, but also a bit new to have much real world usage info. Also neither are available in 215 wide.

To add to the complexity there's also "flow-formed" wheels which are a sort of halfway house between cast and forged. The TC105Ns fall into this category. They have a rim that is similar in strength to a forged wheel, but standard cast spokes. In practice they're probably similar in performance to a forged wheel. There's a video from WedsSport here showing the sort of testing they do on their wheels:

I'm planning to get some TC105Ns later in the year; the weight vs price was a big factor (I like the looks too).

I'm not going to be running a suction mount. I have a work in progress DIY mounting that hopefully will work out; it'll be bolted to the fascia behind the trim.
-
They are, which means the damper travel is set so that it works when they are fully lowered, i.e. it's short. This means even if you have less lowering, you still get the shorter travel.

Are stewards generally okay with you running say torque assuming the device it's running on is sturdily mounted? It's not a lap timer per se, but I guess you could maybe get timing info from it?

It's a trade off though. Stiffer springs reduce body roll which is good for cornering as you lift the inner wheels less, and thus they have more grip. But at the same time, when travelling over bumps you want softer springs as they allow the wheels to follow the road more closely, resulting in better grip. Racing cars have mega stiff strings because tracks are smooth so they don't need to worry about hitting potholes, for road you definitely want a softer setup. So stiffer might not necessarily be better.

Trip around the Lauren triangle and some other good roads?

From what I understand 5w30 is better if you drive the car hard, especially on track, as it maintains pressure better when the engine is hot. 0w20 presumably gives lower friction and thus lower emission and better fuel economy though.
-
That's 10w40 though, not 5w30... Cheapest I can see for Castrol GTX 5w30 is £20 for 4 litres, so that's about £40 for an oil change (you need just shy of 7 litres).

Nice to see people this evening, quite a cosy gathering. I'm still full after that steak.
-
Is this still a thing?

That works for me, Lymm is more convenient than Manchester.

Fuel injected engines cut fuelling on overrun (generally if you're off the gas and RPM is at least around 2k). So if you're rolling downhill in gear it will use no fuel, even though the engine is "running". This is probably why coasting has never been added, it doesn't really add much over just rolling in gear, other than increased brake wear.

I gave it a try, you could not offer a competitive quote. My claims history means all the specialists want nothing to do with me sadly.

If it's done right they fit the car with an uprated battery, alternator and starter motor to account for the increased use. Also the system should monitor the battery condition and electrical load to avoid stopping the car when there's high load or low charge. Mine seemed pretty good as I recall, but I've driven other cars that had utterly braindead start stop (Fiat I'm looking at you), so it seems a bit of a mixed bag. Much better with automatics in my experience too.
