I'm tempted to ask you to have a crack at mine if you're up for it? Not sure black would suit a ginger jap though, maybe red? I have a couple of sets I can use in the meantime and maybe give you a set if you're interested? I have Crystal Red and TOMS DEPOT sat in the loft gathering dust.

    Tinted rear tail lights

I saw someone here has modified the OE tail light unit so it's not so "90's lexus". Something involving a Dremel and red or darker paint IIRC. I think he was considering doing the same for others if there was any interest but I can't find it now. If it rings bells with anyone I'd appreciate a quick heads-up for who and where please?

    Lauren's GT86 100K miles and onwards

Not tried Continental but have Yokohama (Advan Sport V105 225/45 R17 91W on 8" rims) are way better than the Goodyear (F1 Assymetric 2 215/45R17 on 7.5" rims) they replaced. No track, purely road use.

    The Wheels Thread

If mine's anything to go by, you can see here: Abbey Alignment.pdf I can't find original printout from Fensport, but when I had my geo set after lowering springs it was pretty sweet. I returned to OEM springs a while later but didn't get geo set until a couple of weeks ago at Abbey. The rear was way out before adjustment. That would suggest the different springs rather upset the whole shebang. Sorry if I got a bit technical there.
  11. Back then when you paid your final payment the car was yours. Today there'll be a sizeable balloon payment at the end or you send it back. You get nothing for nowt.
  12. Similar to OP and others above, I've also had a Griff, 350Z GT and SAAB 93 turbo, traded in the Zed for the GT86. My Griff was an early precat and the OE seats were terrible and the driving position not great. My seats were replaced with those from a Cerbera and they were much better, but still nowhere near as good as the GT86. Sounded glorious and went like stink though. Clearly, the visceral roar of a pre-cat BV V8 is never going to be matched by a 2 litre flat four-banger, but the confidence inspiring handling and poise more than makes up for it - I'm way faster point-to-point in the GT86 than I ever was in the Griff. I always felt it was trying to kill me in a fibreglass and petrol fuelled fireball. Probably says as much about my driving skills as it does about the handling or lack thereof the Griff. 350Z was pretty quick in a straight line and fun to slide on track/airfield, but I found it a little too edgy anywhere near the limit on road. Poise, poise, poise, slide, slide, FECK! SAAB, a great floater and probably the best 'ride' of any car I've owned, but a rocket ship it ain't. Far too wallowy and understeery unless some fairly serious dosh is invested - which would ruin the comfort and ride. Just to add, my Griff 430 was a little louder and aggressive than most:

    Harrop/Eaton S/C

That's useful to know. I'm leaning towards the Harrop/Cosworth/Sprintex superchargers with the Harrop in the lead for me. The HKS looks a bit Heath-Robinson to me - more like some of the lower-end turbos - which doesn't inspire confidence. The fit and forget nature of the big player SC kits makes them very attractive to me, plus I'm not chasing numbers, just a tad more oomph to enable a pass I'd not take with current/OEM limitations. The A36 and A303 has some decent passing opportunities which are too fleeting for my liking at the moment. By my reckoning, an extra 50 BHP would just about do it. Starting out conservatively, if that's not enough there's still more to come if required, especially with the Harrop; the Cosworth not so much. Please keep the Harrop (and other) updates coming.

  20. Hi Mark,

I understand you've fitted a plasma bar as a third brake light. Have you posted anywhere how you routed the cabling please?

    1. Mark-in-Stoke

      Mark-in-Stoke

It's real easy, I connected the new cable to the existing brake light cable, then stuck it under the rear parcel shelf (access from the boot), then up and under the rear pillars and finally stuck it in between the roof and headlining, just 3 plugs to take out, then it pulls down. All cabling is out of site and all secured with 3m "style" double sided sticky foam tape,

    Toyota Retrofit DAB

My guy says his guys don't speak highly of it. "...the unit tunes into one of the pre-set channels on the stereo and then you can pick up a DAB signal. I have attached an image of the said unit but in the picture it does show it fitted to an Aygo. You can see the unit fitted just above the gear stick"

    OEM brake pads

Hmmm. I had to replace front discs and pads at 25k. OE pads used to squeal like a pig so switched to greenstuff. Still good at 45k miles.
