Javelin trackday - Bedford GT - Friday 2nd December
HariboPenguin replied to surrey86's topic in Social Meets
Cool, the car has not long had its service so all should be good mechanically, will give it a once over beforehand just in case. Bought a helmet from Demon Tweeks at the weekend as I'd prefer my own and plan on doing more days next year. Booked my place tonight so will see you guys there -
Javelin trackday - Bedford GT - Friday 2nd December

My car is just under the noise limit scoring 99db, so will be booking tomorrow. This will be my first ever track day, do I need to bring anything special or do anything with the car beforehand? Any tips would be appreciated. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Casual Breakfast/Coffee Meet, Brecon Beacons
HariboPenguin replied to S18 RSG's topic in Social Meets
Thanks for the invite but I won't be able to make it either as I have plans tomorrow evening and wouldn't be able to get back in time. I'm based above Birmingham nearer Stafford so it's around 3 hours each way for me too. Shame as there are some great driving roads down there and I've never been. If you ever arrange another, give me a shout -

Is there a date when the prices go up and how much by? I won't know if I can take the day off work till next week. Need to test if it will meet the noise limit too. I think static should be fine just unsure about drive by. -
100% agree with this, changing the tyres from stock primacies to V105's has been the biggest improvement I've made to my car!

I've got JR11's on mine and love them, no issues so far You should check out @Tarmac if you end up ordering them, they offer a free fitting kit to 86 owners and are very helpful. They were also the cheapest place I could find when I got mine. They don't have the full range listed on their site but if you give Chris a call he can give you a price.

Welcome to the club you've got a good pairing there, when I was looking for mine it was a toss up between S2000 and the 86.

Add me to the list too, will be nice to meet some fellow Midlanders and put some faces to usernames

ATS do free battery checks, I took mine down there for them to test and then shown the printout they gave me showing it needed replacement when I took it in to Toyota and didn't have a problem, although I took mine to RRG, dunno how you would get on with other dealers Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Recall Notice: Power Steering Defect
HariboPenguin replied to Kodename47's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I haven't noticed any difference in steering weight on mine since the recall work Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
They replaced the gear stick assembly to fix the buzzing issue and that apparently helps with the 2nd gear problem too. Think they may have also adjusted something, can't remember exactly what he said. 2nd gear appears to be much better so far + changing gear in general seems much smoother, it was a bit clunky before especially when cold or at high revs. True test will be when it comes to the winter months.
-
Just wanted to say thanks for the amazing service by @Riceburner and the rest of the staff at RRG when I took my car in yesterday to get the battery replaced and cold 2nd gear + buzzing gear stick issue fixed under warranty. They were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They even carried out the recall whilst I was up there to save me having to travel back up again. Worth the 2 hour drive each way, won't be taking my car anywhere else!

Think I'll probably get a 2nd cat delete next month then providing I don't have any complaints beforehand. I can always swap it back and sell it again if it's too much. Can't be as bad as the corsa with a fart cannon that's always going up and down the street [emoji14] Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I guessed as much, would a HFC be any better? Basically just want some more rasp at high rpm, but not so loud it wakes the street up when I start it up in the morning to go to work.
-
So my exhaust was finally delivered last week, got it fitted on Friday and I am loving it so far. Big improvement over the weezy stock one, makes it sound like a proper sports car now. It is a bit loud on cold start, especially when its in a garage / carport. Otherwise not too bad, opens up when you put your foot down but no annoying drone when sat in traffic or cruising on motorway. Debating getting the 2nd cat delete to get a bit more rasp at high rpm's but fear it might make cold starts too loud. How much louder does removing the 2nd cat make it?

Like the look of these, any ideas on price of the JR21's yet? Had a look on your site but couldn't find them anywhere Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

PM'd you, got a 2 hour drive myself, hopefully not too much traffic tomorrow Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Can definitely come along tomorrow, should get to the start point around 10ish
-
Providing I can move an appointment around I should be able to make most of the saturday, can't do Sunday though due to fathers day. Will find out for sure tomorrow.

I'm with Admiral at the moment and from what I've heard they can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to mods especially for young drivers, I was quite surprised that adding an exhaust was only £25 though so might give them a call tomorrow and see. Planning on hopefully moving to one of the club insurers when it comes to my renewal though as I'm expecting Admiral to give me another ridiculous quote when the time comes. My current one is expensive enough but I'm hoping that my premium should drop now I've reached 21.
-
Will definitely consider it, plan is to get the secondary catback and then work out what I'm going to do with the rest of it after I've renewed my insurance and heard how loud it is as a base, whether it be a new manifold / header or keeping the stock one and removing the second cat as you can buy the cat delete frontpipe separately. Mainly depends on sound and how much a remap would add onto my insurance if I wanted a new manifold / header.
-
Well my impatience has gotten the better of me and I've ordered a secondary non-res from Tarmac Sportz after finding they offer them much cheaper than the other places I was looking. Hopefully it should be alright as I'm not planning on having any other mods just yet that would make it any louder.
-
Been looking around for something like this which uses an 86 for a while. I'll definitely have to give this a go to get some proper practice without the worry of doing any damage to my own car or tyres.

Thanks for the replies, I couldn't find any complaints of cracking in the newer flexi joint version but going to be getting a new one with warranty just to be on the safe side. I've looked at others but none have really appealed to me as much as the Milltek one. My plan is to keep it NA (for quite a while at least) and whilst I would like to replace the manifold / header at some point to help remove the torque dip, I hear that de-catted ones can cause emissions issues when it comes to MOT time which I don't really fancy as the car is a daily driver I want something that I don't have to worry about.
