I can get ok results using a suction mount on the rear window, with the camera facing forward. Tether the mount to the stick up rear light on the parcel shelf (finally a use for it!). I'm a bit sceptical of how safe it is having a metal bar poking out of the side of the headrest with a passenger nearby.

It's a stunning race track and great place, almost surreal in today's world of health and safety. I totally agree every petrol head should experience it. It's like the Amsterdam of motorsport.

I went there back in 2005. Popped for 3 laps on the way home from Italy on a motorcycle trip. Probably would have done more laps but the chain on my VFR400 was in a state and I didn't want to risk snapping it. While quite intense cornering at speed, knee sliding with a GT3 a few feet away, I remember it being much safer than what all the YouTube videos show nowadays. Damn sight cheaper too. It helped this was before all the insurance companies excluded it from the T's and C's. I'm not sure I'd have the balls to go round these days.

You just need to undo 2 number plate screws, and 2 brick screws iirc. Then either stick on your new plate or drill a couple holes in it to the brick's mounting holes.

Tbh most people who say that a coilover with higher spring rates rides better than stock are kidding themselves.

I tend to take a torque wrench, always find my wheel nuts slacken off a few nm by lunchtime. Everytime I get it out there's a queue of people asking to borrow it

Tbh my KW's were never completely noise free, I used to get slight squeaks - put it down to 'coilover noise'. It's great you have so much adjustment in ST's.

Take bank cards from a least two banks to pay for the tolls - so you have a spare if one doesn't work in the machine. Some don't work at some stations, and if you're at the front of a large queue getting them all to reverse up would be a nightmare. In this day and age it shouldn't happen but in my experience on the Peage not all Visas are born equal. I wouldnt bother with the auto pay setup, I don't think its worth the cost unless you're regularly over there.

Went through the tunnel in the 86 a couple times last week. I've been on the upper deck before without issues (although it is tighter), but these times I was singled out of the queue to go on the lower level without the ramp & close kerbs etc . A trick you can do to make sure you go to the lower level is book in with 'bike rack on the roof'. It doesn't cost any more and there's less chance of kerbing. I'm standard so it's not a big issue - but if I had expensive 9.5" wide JDM wheels I'd be crapping myself on the upper level!

You'd likely find your car gets to the same temperatures, it's just you can't see it. Ignorance is bliss and all that. When you have an oil temp gauge it's scary how hot it gets so quickly whilst on track.

I'm not sure on that. I don't dislike the new front-end - I think it looks alright, but I'm not sure it's going to age very well compared to the original. Might go the way of the 996 911, but who knows. Looks like RRG have already removed the Toyota badge from the boot, surprising for a dealer demo!

Wow 3k fitted and mapped is seriously cheap! It's almost not fair to compare to a Cosworth or Harrop when half the price..

Primacies are poor in the wet, even for a 'touring' tyre. I like them in the dry, give the car a nice balance.

I've seen a few second hand ST's come up and they still looked in reasonable condition. I used KW V1's on my Impreza for 3 years, daily driven, and they were pretty good in my limited experience. They are basically the same as ST's apart from being stainless steel. Essentially I wouldn't be put off by a car with ST's.

Looks good. Seems like the manifold is doing a lot more for power than the cat back was. I'd be wary of leaving the stock back box on and de-restricting the rest of the exhaust. This was actually my plan, then I came across a video of someones similar setup rattling the OEM box really badly, and a few other mentions in forums of the same. From what I've researched it's ok with an aftermarket manifold, but if you do the mid pipe as well you can end up with some nasty resonance.

Have you been on track? It's more likely your pads have overheated and smeared material unevenly on your discs if so..

Don't apologise Ade, it's a fair observation and worth knowing. I think you hit the nail on the head re: experience versus copy-pasting forum opinions.

So if you "never compromise" on brakes and tyres, what is this ultimate setup you are running?

Matching compounds would obviously be ideal, I doubt anyone disputes that and is an easy position to take as a high ground. However I do value real experience from an expert source, especially if it means they aren't trying to sell me something they make that they aren't sure I need... Tbh reading the above post again, seems to be quite a bit of unfounded Internet hyperbole / paranoia there - not working with traction control?! I haven't died yet and my TRC is quite active atm

I spoke to Ian at Carbotech who recommended just doing the fronts for my usage, plus RBF600. He used to own and trackday an 86 with Carbotechs so has good experience. Obviously I'll have to see how it goes though.

Are you not impressed with the BC's? Suprised you want to change them out so quickly.

At the moment, they aren't noticeably noisier than OEM pads for me.
