Yeah it's a bit worrying, the car could end up getting blacklisted like S2000's given the amount that are getting crashed.
-
The weight of the thing is another downside. I had a 130i for a couple years, great engine but you really feel the mass on country lanes and b-roads. An 86 is far more agile.
-
Those pics are slightly less than 3mm. Generous to offer, but by the time you've paid someone to fit it's not worth the hassle.
-
The problem with OFT here is that once imported, it comes out as pretty much the same price as an experienced UK tuner custom Ecutek tuning your car on a dyno. i.e. it doesn't look great value. I do like how the stock map can be switched back without a trace of a remap though.

I don't think lots of camber will provide much benefit during the winter months anyway to be honest, especially if you are using the original tyres on slimy roads. You could go more aggressive when it starts to brighten up a bit.
-
Doesn't do much and no-brainer purchase tend to be mutually exclusive but I know what you're getting at.

Apart from an air filter..

Thanks both, very useful to know. Know what you mean about watching videos of Californian youtuber's, it's not quite as inviting outside here at the moment!

That's good news. I think a few of us were scared they were going to do a 'Subaru' on the engine warranty.
-
Does that mean if I want to change out the Oem manifold and overpipe I don't have to go in from the back and take off the mid-pipe first for clearance? If someone could confirm would be great, I presumed it was a bigger job.
-
Ironically if you fitted a baffled sump or oil cooler for track safety you've more chance of warranty problems in the case of a blow up as you've modified your engine. You can't win!
-
sh1t that's not good! Sorry to hear it
-
They are meant to help smooth airflow but that is a lot of money for a pipe plus 30 quid air filter.
-
Mine doesn't have a remap. Initially they only error on track when hot, after a while the coil seema to degrade then error after revving to 6k and coming off the throttle.
-
That's good to know it can be done without jacking up. Still, it would be nice if Toyota/Subaru could actually fix the design fault with them before owners have to start paying. I've been bitten by a stupid part in a Subaru gearbox previously, some mastermind decided to save a couple yen by changing a metal cog inside the gearbox for a plastic part (cost £1) on my model year, that cost me a grand all-in for a full gearbox rebuild when it stripped out of warranty.
-
Good point. It would be ok for me, but I presume you need to go in from the bottom to change these? A lot of people with on street parking etc aren't going to have the jacks/facilities to raise the car safely to change them. I've had 3 coils fault on my 20k mileage car so far, this could get to be a right faff out of warranty if you don't have the facilities to change them easily.

AFAIK kerb weight isn't even a full tank, I bet that's seriously close to 2 tonnes when brimmed?!
-
I was going to say, 35mpg on a spirited drive, really? I think the courtesy Aygo was reading lower than that while hooning down the back roads to work.
-
AH is that it? I saw £100 quoted somewhere but £30 isn't too bad! It's bizarre Motorline are messing around with courtesy cars and workshop time investigating and swapping coils around over £30.
-
P0351 returned for me after last week, Motorline finally have decided they will replace the coil pack on Thursday. This could get to be quite an expensive issue when these cars drop out of warranty.

Seen at Geneva yesterday. Toyota C-HR

The Autocar article I read on it yesterday suggested the standard turbo petrol was by far the best drive - the hybrid's weight quite noticeable and had grabby brakes. -

I saw it at the dealers on Thursday and thought it was pretty nice. The interior also looks quite good. -
I'm pondering getting some grippier tyres fitted onto a spare set of oem wheels for track days. I'd be using the standard size, so 215/45/17. Has anyone ran sticky track tyres with standard suspension? I'm wondering if it's going to start tying the original shocks in knots. ps. These would be soley used driving to/from the track and on track. (If it came to it I could always carry them there with the seats down.) Cheers

Thanks for the responses, all good info. At the moment I'm already running camber bolts on the front. I've not had it measured but it looks a bit over -1. The balance isn't too bad and I could go more negative using oem camber bolts in the top hole but it feels like it might not be worth it with the relatively soft sidewall on the front Primacy's. I'm a track novice, 4 car days and 3 bike days done. All of my car days have been done with touring type tyres, Bridgestone Turanzas on a 130i or Primacy's. I enjoy the Primacy's on the road and track but starting to think I could have more fun on track with a 'sharper' tyre, I.e. something grippier and harsher that effectively ups the spring rate using the tyre itself. But if that turns the shocks into a mess it's not worth it. I'll have a look at that tyre list, thanks Lauren. Ade, I haven't thought of what to go for yet, I passengered in Steve's car at Bedford with AD08's which were impressive but he was running KW V3's. I had KW V1's on my Impreza which were great but I'm not sure I want to go down the slippery coilover slope on the 86 just yet! I do like the stock suspension, it rides really well over the unclassified roads I hack down on the way to work.
