An interesting article regarding modifying
surrey86 replied to TTR's topic in Non GT86/BRZ General Chat
It's a good article. I think some people get addicted to modifying and buy shit for the sake of it, rather than it being any improvement. Catch myself nearly doing it quite often, it's very tempting with such a big aftermarket parts availability for the 86'. -
I've booked on with Javelin for a nice slippy December track day, currently £99 for the full GT circuit which sounds like a bargain. Bedford is a great track for beginners. It's a long lap so doesn't tend to get too congested (apart from right at the start as per usual), and there's only a couple places where it's actually possible to hit anything. You can definitely get a good feel for the car. Let us know if any more want a pre-Christmas winter track fix! http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=1428itemid&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1

Given the sum involved is it worth speaking to a solicitor? It sounds like he's done nowhere near even 6 grands worth of work. The whole thing with an engine conversion is it's hard, that's why they should be priced for contingency. A half done one isn't worth shit as no one will want to touch someone elses mess.

Javelin trackday - Bedford GT - Friday 2nd December

Shame you weren't there Dan! I think we all had a good day out, I think 6 of us in the end. For December the weather was spot on - relatively mild compared to previous days and next to no rainfall. It was quite incident free as far as I'm aware, apart from the track being closed for 20 minutes at 11am to clear up oil someone had dumped all the way down the main straight. With almost having the track to myself in the last session I was playing about with the Primacy's and managed to spin across the grass at speed in 4th gear - that was a bit scary but as is Bedford's massive run off no consequence whatsoever - it's a great place to learn. -
Yep it's got pride of place on the mantlepiece

You've definitely made the right decision, these guys sound like a waste of space.
-
Well, a downside obviously is you're going to need to buy another oem pipe to pass an MOT, so it's not really free.
-
Yeah I had those two, only happens for me on track (so far). Toyota Motorline would only swap the coils for the rear two.
-
I'll be there

Isn't claying monthly a bit excessive? I've only ever done it rarely before a machine Polish as I've found it tends to leave some small scratches.

There's an issue with the club store question. I've answered I've never bought from it, but I can't get to the next page without answering what I bought. Edit - ah yes I have bought membership, silly me

You're right it does also turn off the passenger airbag. There's a hidden keyhole on the left side of the dash that you can only access with the door open.

Javelin trackday - Bedford GT - Friday 2nd December

Make sure your wheel nuts are tight beforehand as well, should be around 120nm. -
Yeah I'm hoping that's the idea. The message referred to me was "we've swapped them and hopefully that'll fix it" but I wasn't able to speak to the mechanic.

Do you find the EBD/ABS kicking in intrusive Lauren, or do you do the full pedal dance thing?
-
Sounds like they had a productive day! That's just lazy. Pretty obvious if my car is putting out the same code on the gauge on start-up it's not related to a remap. I guess I'll be down there again after the next track day with another brace of codes.

I've the P3 aswell, but wasn't sure if it was recalling them. Just had the call, they aren't replacing them, just swapping them around. Basically a fob off

I've not used Toyota software, but on my 2005 Bmw it stored every code with a mileage stamp forever. Even if the light has gone off I'm sure it surely must be stored in the history!

Yeah. Having two 86's in at the same time with coilpack codes is good timing.

Welcome! Tbh without wanting to sound harsh I'm suprised they've offered £250, brake squeal is a fairly standard feature of the car. I feel Toyota can't win here, fit a sportier compound pad and get noise complaints from people expecting Mercedes levels of refinement - or fit a soft compound that falls apart on track. I prefer the former, horses for courses.. Anyway, enjoy the car!

I've just booked mine for Donnington, excess was double (so 300 x 2) as they said it would be. Also added a few mods for free at the same time, good company.

Alpine fresh coolant
-
I've used both.. Depends what the tap water is like, around Surrey seems fine but I'd think twice before filling with water in the Bristol area having seen what it does to the kettle.
-
There's nothing to stop you adding 100ml of water one time, then 100ml coolant the next. Water is better at cooling than coolant itself, your engine isn't going to rust or freeze over with a 49/51 mix.
