    Another question about if this can be done with cats? Looks like a lovely bit of kit, but wouldn't want to swap the whole exhaust off each year.

    (I could use a catted manifold, but they are much rarer than exhausts that can retain the cat)

    We could do a sports cat mounted on a V-band so you could swap in/swap out a sports cat really easily with a single socket in about 5 minutes on your drive :)

  2. We do high-end custom exhausts to suit whatever needs you have, how much power the car's running and other mods would mainly determine O.D of the tube we use but silencer choice would be down to personal preference on how you want the system to sound.

    There's a thread on our development system here;

    Give us a shout if you have anymore questions :)

    I've got a TRD which obviously has the quad tailpipes on it. Would you be able to make something that would suit and if so do you have a rough idea on price???

    Yes we could cater for quad tailpipes for the TRD bumper, we'd probably have to get the car in to check exits of the dimensions e.t.c if that's ok but it's not a big job to switch the tailpipes, would you just want straight cut dull-polished pipes like our other systems?

  4. Hi everyone, the video is here!

    Our microphone didn't pick up the sound as well as we hoped, so the video is quite quiet and doesn't really do it justice. Apologies for this and I hope it's still useful to you.

    The lead time is approximately 4 weeks at the moment @will300

    With regards to the tailpipes, we don't tend to stock them as we make them custom to order. But we really can create whatever you like to suit your needs. The ones on the demo system are dull polished straight cut stainless 5" tips. If anyone wants to discuss with us what they're looking for we'll let you know if there will be any additional cost or not :)

  5. Introducing the CGR Automotive Stainless Steel GT86/BRZ Exhaust.

    We're going to post up some pictures of the development system and go into some real depth to make sure we're clear on the extent we've gone to in order to make sure this is the best system on the market.

    Back-purge TIG welded to Aerospace standards;

    How the tube is prepared and welded is the most crucial part of the job. Every weld joint on our systems is TIG welded, however the difference between a good weld joint and a bad one is chalk and cheese. There are other systems on the market that have been TIG welded but none to this standard. The way we weld and fabricate our systems mean the joints are far stronger while being light and having NO restrictions. We could talk for hours about the fabrication process and how time consuming it is (we will tell you if you ask as long as you promise not to fall asleep).

    21.jpg

    Differences between back-purged and none-purged welds when fully penetrated;
    As you can see back-purged welds leave no oxidisation.

    V-Band fittings

    The CGR system is held together with V-band connections not only to ensure an easy fitting and removal of the system V-bands are lightweight, with an extremely positive connection guaranteeing a perfect seal every time without the need for gaskets. This is usually a technique used in the motorsport market that we have used religiously in our race and road car systems since we began building exhausts as they are the perfect way to join the various exhaust components together.

    11.jpg

    Fully Customisable for Individuality

    When we originally began developing the BRZ system, we 3D Laser-Scanned the underfloor of the car then CAD modelled the exhaust that we decided to run from the over-pipe backwards, removing the secondary CAT. To get that classic Japanese style we split the system down the middle and added two slightly upwards facing back boxes that are visible from the rear of the car. We then incorporated where the tailpipes and silencers would need to fit within the jigs, allowing for unlimited options to be spec'd without seriously affecting the construction process by using modular jigs, this allow us to adapt to fitting different silencer and tailpipe options. By having the CAD on-hand too, if we have any special requests that would not normally be catered for we can verify the amount of room and clearance we have in the CAD for whatever request we have without having to see the car or make modifications on the car.

    Split Pipe/Y-Pipe

    The pipe which splits the single system into two halfs is made in quite a special way, instead of just cutting two straight bits of tube together at an angle to separate the gas, we actually cut mandrel bends together at a perfect tangent to the rest of the exhaust. This is a lot of work and is possibly over-engineered however this gives absolutely no restriction and means the gas flows perfectly equally through both silencers before leaving the car. We felt that the extra work involved was 110% worth it in order to make certain the system was completely un-compromised and there were absolutely no restrictions or "hot-spots" of exhaust pressure.

    We weld and pack our own silencers in house, so although they look small they are extremely effective as we pack them very well with quality packing.
    And finally, the tail pipes! We appreciate 5” straight cut pipes might not be everyone’s cup of Saké, so the tips are completely up to you. Tailpipes can be made however you like, slash cut, rolled in, rolled out, burnt, square, oval, whatever it is get in-touch and we can quote for it.

    Pricing;

    The way we're going to price the systems will be as following, there's going to be a standard retail price for a single system on it's own, a 15% discount on the groupbuy if we get over 5 orders, and a massive 25% discount if we get 10+ orders.

    The price will be a base price which will include the following;

    2.5" GT86 / BRZ Exhaust system
    Two rear silencers and one centre box
    Race tailpipes of your chosen size (dull polished stainless tubes as pictured on demo system)

    Larger silencers and multiple silencer configurations can be spec'd, silencers can be removed e.t.c to make more or less noise.

    RRP £1135

    Groupbuy 5+ £965

    Groupbuy 10+ £851

    All prices include VAT but exclude shipping or fitting.

    There's probably a few things we've missed off but feel free to ask any questions, whether it's commenting on the post, PM'ing us, emailing or calling we'll try our best to get back to you ASAP!

    Thanks for reading, and hopefully speak to you soon :blush:

    What would the cost be?

    We need to come up with an accurate RRP but we need a car here first to be certain. We're willing to do a very good deal with manifolds and a remap for the first customer! We're based in South Yorkshire if you live anywhere near and could pop in sometime?

    No worries if not we'll do our best to arrange a price asap.

  7. Hi Guys,

    We hope to be developing manifolds very soon! As with the exhaust, we will need a demo car to be left with us for a short while.

    If you're interested please let us know :)

    Thanks,
    CGR Automotive

    Thanks guys, I appreciate the replys. I've been looking for afew months now, thing is I do 50/50 on moterway and normal roads so drone will effect my long drives. Is there a exhaust where we can put a muffler in which takes afew minutes to put on and take off  to stop droning etc like on other japanese cars such as the type r? I will do further research to find the perfect 50/50 I need on a exhaust system that's right in the middle.

    Regards

    Kieran

    Hi Kieron,

    We'll be completing our GT86/BRZ development exhaust next week and could offer a system with a centre silencer mounted on a set of v-bands which would take 5 minutes to swap.

    Means you can go out on a weekend with a louder system than through the week and it would be a dead easy job to swap them over :)

    Well i'm glad you've posted this, it's always good to name and shame bad companies! They tend to listen to you then.

    Perhaps @CGR Automotive may be able to help you out with the flexi-pipe issue? Admittedly they aren't close to you, but shipment to them to get it looked at would be a lot cheaper than the states!

    Thanks Rob but unfortunately we're in the same boat where we wouldn't modify anybody elses stuff that's fauly, we could build you a fresh manifold though if you're interested :)

    Take it you didn't get hold of Kaz then? I'd help you out but i'm nowhere near you.

    Nope no word from him as of yet, how far is nowhere near? We've had people drive from all over the place in the past but I understand it's quite an inconvenience especially as we'd need the car for a little while.

  11. Hi guys,

    We're still after a development car for our first exhaust system. We've got all the parts in and ready to go to build it we just need a willing victim to let us have a play with one.

    System will be built to your spec as requested, quiet or as loud as you'd like with any style of tips e.t.c

    Take a look at our facebook and instagram for pictures of other bits and bobs we've been doing

    Cheers :)

  12. Hi guys, Does anyone know "Kaz" off the forum personally.

    He's due to have a custom exhaust fitted and a remap done this week and dropping his car off today but his phone's been going to answer machine all weekend.

    #1 just want to make sure he's ok as it seems odd his phone's been off all weekend. Guessing there's something up

    #2 if he can't make it this week it's not a problem but it's a weeks worth of work we've got to rearrange and sort out so could just do with knowing whether he can still make it or not.

    Just want to clarify we're not annoyed or anything we just want to make sure he's ok and rearrange stuff if we need to :)

    Cheers guys

  13. Just to be clear the two rear boxes are technically resonators, we just call them silencers as we only build highly effective straight through resonated silencers.

    Fingers crossed we'll have the system fitted to the car in the next few weeks or so and will try both set-ups with 2 and 3 silencers, there's always scope to make them bigger and smaller depending on customer needs so there'll definitely be an option for everyone :)

  14. This will be a louder option however we build all our own silencers so they're very well packed and suppress quite a lot of noise for how compact they are, there's plenty of room to fit another silencer in the centre-pipe if that's what some customers would rather go for.

    I'll get a video of one of the 370Z systems we do which had basically 4 boxes of similar size to the ones pictured and was spot on for what the customer wanted, not too loud at all with minimal cabin noise when cruising but gave a noise but not too loud when opened up, there was plenty of room to still make it louder and that's a 320bhp 3.7litre V6.

    We'll be offering various options to cater for different noise levels too so we can make them to your exact specifications :)

  15. Hi Everyone!

    We’re looking for a car to develop our high quality exhaust system on, in exchange for a reduced price system. We should only need the car for a few days, however it is best if the person can be flexible as it possibly may need to be with us Monday – Friday.

    We already have the under floor of a BRZ as a CAD file from laser scanning and the CAD for the system itself is under-way! All of our work is focused on quality and we hope to provide one of you with an exceptional exhaust system.

    Below are a some photos from our previous work, and to see the kind of group buy service we offer here is a link to a current offer on our Megane exhausts http://www.performance-exhausts.co.uk/news/megane-225-230-r26-3-inch-exhaust-system

    Although we cannot confirm prices as of yet, it will most likely be somewhere near the price of the Megane system.

    We can tailor all of our exhausts to suit your needs, whether its silencer options or custom tailpipes.

    Drop us a message if you’d like to get involved, any questions please ask away!

    Roll cages you say. Would that also include bolt in half cage with harness mounting? If so, we could maybe talk some business.

    We normally only do full cages as TIG welded cages are more expensive to produce than MIG welded ones and generally it's only the motorsport market that can justify the difference, however if you're after a high-quality cage it's definitely something we could look at.

    Welcome to the club, looking forward to seeing what you do with your BRZ and what products you come up with.  Also, very cool seeing you use the Nikon scanner to scan and design parts with, what softwares do you use?

    We use Inventor for smaller less intricate parts and for Machining routines as it's perfect for simple parts, and the laser scanning guys use Nikon focus software as well as Geomagic Design X which is probably the best CAD software around and allows reference to the mesh data provided by the scanning equipment. I believe you can scan straight into Geomagic without having to use the Nikon software too making it particularly efficient for the big files such as underfloors and engine bays :)
