I've had problems with the newer v2.1 bluetooth obd2 dongle reading codes but my old v1.5 works fine.

I've always just used Mr Muscle window cleaner then I protect with some c2v3.

Not sure on new GT86 discounts but with finance and dealer contributions I paid £26.5k OTR for my M140i which includes £1.5k of options. Once I can get away with 2 seats again I'll be revisiting the Cayman option.

I swapped my E92 320d M Sport for the GT86 and never really got on with the GT86, it wasn't just the power as the car can shift but the practicality for me as a daily. I wanted something with 4+ doors and test drove a few cars but kept going back to BMW. I test drove an early N55 320PS/332ftlb M135i and wasn't blown away by its interior quality and road handling as it felt floaty at speed. I went looking at used BMW's a couple weeks ago and ended up buying a new B58 340PS/369ftlb M140i 5dr and I love it. Its a great family commuter and a proper rocket when you use the loud pedal. The engine just wants to go and pulls hard all the way to the limiter, its easily the fastest car ive ever had and never lets up. It feels so much more planted then the M135i I tested and the interior is similar to that in a 3/4 series now in terms of quality. They did a little work to the chassis in the M140i to make it more stable like the M235i/M240i. In reply to some of your comments above, yes there is fake sound but this has been turned down on the M140i. The engine and exhaust sounds great with burbles and pops on lift off and auto blip on down shifts. Servicing is every 2 years or 18k miles and not as expensive as you would think, tax is the same or cheaper (auto) then the GT86, I get the same mpg around town and better on the motorway in the BMW, insurance is the same for me. They are quite common due to the decent PCP deals but I like the understated looks. The pedals are offset to the right which they weren't in my E92 or our F11 and has taken a little time to get use to this. Overall very happy with the M140i as its my only car now and ticks all the boxes from what I want.

Daily drive for me, I did have an Elise S2 111s for weekends but it never got used and just sat in the garage. Now the Elise has gone I keep looking at a replacement that has the performance of the Elise and the practicality of the GT86.

I can see why a service is so expensive when they charge £30 for an oem air filter. Had my 4 year service done and saved a few quid as I have a k&n panel filter.
-
Is the gearbox oil change an extra charge on top of Toyotas fixed price full service cost of £360? What do you actually get for a £360 service as looks like its just Engine oil and filter, diff oil and brake fluid. Pretty expensive really as it use to cost me half that with the Lotus.

Red is the fastest colour aswell We use to have a 2nd gen Swift Sport, loved that car. Happy Birthday

I use a soapy bucket of water as lube then you just wipe the car is if you were cleaning it with a wools mitt. You can feel it working and once a panel is clean from contaminants, it takes minutes to do a whole car. As with any clay product the car needs to be clean before use. This is a pretty good review of it on detailing world... http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=330602

+1 for Farecla clay mitt. So much easier and quicker.

Guilty pleasures. What would you give up your GT86 for?

B47 engine isn't twin turbo, its what BMW call twin power which is a single turbo with variable vanes. -

Went with a close friend last weekend to order a fully specd up 440i Gran Coupe. pretty sure my next car will be a M140i now. -
My insurance with Admiral is more expensive if I say the cars kept in a garage over night.

4 months after getting my GT86 and having to get the aircon regassed it looks like the aircon has stopped working again. I noticed it making a swirling noise inside the cab when the aircon is engaged so was investigating that and realised its not actually blowing cold air again. When it was regassed before the pressure check came back ok but obviously something isnt right. Its booked in for the recall work on the 25th and there going to look at the aircon then but I know they dont have the equipment to regas and therefore check the pressure so will wait and see what they come up with. Should the compressor even kick in if theres no gas and the pressure is too low? I know it doesnt on the Elise. If its a small leak im going to argue it was like that when I brought the car as holes in the condensor from foreign objects wont be covered by warranty.
-
Cars been into Toyota today to have the power steering recall carried out, they also looked at the air con and found a small leak on the condenser. Not sure where the leak is but its covered by warranty so just waiting for the part to come in and it will get booked back in for the repair.
-
It is 1234yf gas, cost something like £180 for the regas that the dealer picked up the bill for. You can't confuse the 2 as the connections are different when it comes to regassing.
-
I've not turned the aircon off since getting it gassed. I'm thinking it's not a gas level issue as the compressor turns on, I've tested this by disconnecting the trinary valve which prevents the compressor turning on if the gas pressure is to low or high. With the fact that its making a strange noise it seems more a component failure which will be sorted under warranty.

I previously had a Juke Nismo 200 when they first got released, it was on lease so couldnt mod if but it was in desperate need of bigger front brakes and suspension tweeks to handle the power, never got round to trying the 215 revision with bigger brakes and a lsd. The GT86 is quicker then suggested on paper especially when you get some more grippy tyres.

Will book mine in when its due a service in december.

Same as above, my next car most likely next year will be a Cayman, Evora or Mustang. -
Treated myself to a Das6 Pro polisher for my birthday as ive always wanted to improve the diy detailer finish I can achieve. After what looks like years of neglect with a sponge I gave the GT86 a going over with Meguairs 105 and 205 using hex logic foam pads, pretty pleased with the results and most the swirls and light scratches have been removed.

Where did you purchase them from? Thinking I'll try this setup also.

Im enjoying my Uniroyal Rainsport 3's. Went out in the wet the other day and you forget it's actually wet as they have plenty of grip.

Simple one really, yellowstuff seem a quality replacement for oem without breaking the bank, anyone who's fitted them what are they like for squealing? Thanks
