I'm hoping so. My tyre place can never get them so fingers crossed. The standard PS4's must've been revised as they feel even better. But the 4S is another leap again. If it lasts as long as the standard PS4 it will be an amazing tyre

@Lauren I'd seen in a few places saying it was 36L, even the dealer said it was something like that so that's not too bad then. Think if I had more time with Sport mode I'd have gelled with it more. Track probably suits me more and I've been in mostly front wheel drives lately and unlearning some of that within the hour was interesting. It's a car you want to explore and peel back the layers and discover more with every drive. Some cars you get in and you know all it can do quite quickly and it gets dull even though it's quick (like a Golf R) but it's so competent, you can drive at 80% fairly easily and the last 20% is the fun bit to find. I noticed it would always understeer first before the rear comes round, each mode slightly different which is fine. Can left foot brake in these which is something I've not tried in years so re-learning that would be nice to do. It's seriously tempting and has so much potential.

Test drove one yesterday unaccompanied for about an hour. It's the demo so was encouraged to give it a good go. Grip great even with traction control off and as Lauren says it's absolute. It's been setup to be as grippy as possible and feels quite a serious car which is cool. Not as lairy as Evo's and Subaru's of old unless you really provoke it. But look at how modern WRC cars go through a stage and it makes sense why. Went through sections I'd be feathering the throttle in other cars, this was flat and quite a bit faster. Track Mode is the mode I enjoyed most. Sport I felt I'd want more space to see it slide about but it's the demo so wasn't going to be silly. Normal just feels like a FWD hatch with an LSD that rotates a bit quicker. The Michelin PS4S tyres are as amazing as the press say. I run the standard PS4 tyres on other cars and recently had some new ones and thought they must've revised the compound as it was better again. The PS4S though is like witchcraft. Once they were warm, even in the wet with traction off there was barely a hint of wheel spin. Brakes were awesome, Pedals for heel and toe could be better but easy enough and easier when you're really on the brakes. Does mean you can probably drive in boots easily. Having big feet, some cars I have to wear smaller shoes. It has rev matching but is too slow. It loves full throttle corner exits & higher speed bends. Plant it and go. In-gear it's pretty quick. Turbo boosts well, drops off at higher speeds but it's a 1.6 so to be expected but it's quick where it matters which is a big plus for me. Does like a drink though. When I gave it back it was on 15mpg and I expected it to be low. But the lowest I saw was 9mpg. With only a 36L tank, if you drove like that all the time that's barely 100 miles to a tank. Still has to run in though and don't know if it was on super unleaded. Still seemed pretty good for a new engine. I'd seen Litchfield and others from a brand new engine are seeing higher figures than it's supposed to which is good. The tuners are going to love it though. The intake could be a lot bigger and I'm not surprised they've seen 300bhp+ from it already. I only had it an hour but it's confidence inspiring from the off, a feeling I also got from the Type-R. Once I adjusted to the 4WD and got used to the power moving about it was great and I felt pretty comfortable with it and think it would be quite satisfying to find all it could do, which is what I'm looking for next. Steering feel isn't as sharp as a Type-R or a tweaked GT86 but it's OK. Lot better than most cars. It's expectedly small in the back, may get a bike in with the wheel off but doesn't feel that small to drive and the headunit screen I didn't noticed once I was actually driving. Dealer said most are getting it for £495 down and £495/mth for 4yrs. It's a chunk of money but when Honda and others offer nothing like those figures it's very tempting. For me it may have to be a 2nd car, but I also have the bike for fun so would take some man maths to justify. I don't do much mileage these days so there's that. It's also a 9mth waiting list.

Looks like a bad accident in Stevenage involving a GT86 at some meet. Stuff like this make my blood boil as it gives us all a bad name. I've removed the vid link but is still available

9 months ago we got the TD N/A UEL setup with a full non-res exhaust and it sounded great. Got a bit louder once run in and while some could argue it was too loud, it was really good fun and sounded great heel and toeing. You could hear it coming from quite a way when on throttle. It went into the dealer for what should have been a full service, so that's oil, diff oil, plugs. We said not to do the air filter or the brake fluid as those were changed when we did the rest of it. Brother picked it up and when I got home to ask how it went he said it was different, quieter than before. I've driven it since and it definitely is. It's almost lost the burble you get from the UEL. I'm struggling to work out what they could have altered. Had feared the map had gone, which happens sometimes in the VAG world but all the ECUTEK features are still there and it feels closer to stock when you put it in mode 4 which is correct. The only thing they mentioned was the exhaust wasn't standard and that the "joint rear bolts don't reach thread lock/vinyl". The car has run faultlessly since the mods and it's driven the best it ever has. The exhaust has never rattled and feels like an OEM item that should have been like it from the start. Unlike the Miltek I have on my vRS which rattles and drones at odd RPM's. I struggle to believe something was loose all this time to make the noise. Could it be anything else? I have a video from the day we came home from TD. I'll try to do another to compare.

Dealers here are known for being hard work to deal with, whatever marque they are. I'd always change plugs on mileage but he's just has the quote so only here asking what's involved. The only reason I asked about the TD kit was because if they are moving the engine I was just worried they'd break something and then say it's not their problem as it's not their parts. Going by this I'll just tell him to get the oil dropped, diff oil, gearbox oil and maybe coolant but that's it. They don't need to do anything else. If I had the choice I wouldn't have anything to do with them. Would go back up to TD if it was me but he thinks it's a long way for it. May have to convince him otherwise or I'll offer to take it up myself.

Because where we are there's no one else really that knows anything about 86's. I have a Skoda but have a great specialist who looks after it but they tend to stick with German stuff only
-
Brother's car is due this. What's involved and how much is it roughly? They quoted him over £600 until he asked how so much and they dropped it to £540...🙄 guessing it's so much because of the plug change. My concerns are because it's got the TD N/A kit on plus a few other bits they'll mess something up or even refuse to touch it. There's a few bits he won't need like air filter, brake fluid, etc because they were changed when we upgraded but I don't know what's fully involved in a 6 year service. The car itself is perfect and he's barely done 35k in it. My confidence with any dealer where I am is low at the moment. My last experience cost me £1200 because some YTS pushed too much pressure through the system doing a brake fluid change, borking my slave cylinder, causing me to change the clutch. Someone in my office has a new car with a premium brand, goes in for routine warranty work, have it for 4 days, 3 of which it never moved and they give it back with more issues and they washed it, even though he told them not to after he'd just paid someone to detail it.

What size screws do I need for this? The one that came with the car the dealer used random ones and screwed into the brick... We did go down the pressed plate route but sticky pads never last and now I'm thinking it would be better to take off the brick and go down the import plate route.

Cool. Thinking of changing stock top mounts for TRD ones while the suspension is off as I've read they are stiffer than stock. Unless there is something better we could go with?

Saves me starting a new thread. Considering a EBC yellow stuff as they were on offer as part of a kit with braided hoses and better fluid from TD. Are they still highly rated? I run Yellow Stuff back in 2014 on a car that was commuting on A and B roads at 4am so was driven pretty briskly for 100miles a day and they weren't great back then. Stock pads on that car lasted 45k and I sold the car at 52k with maybe 3k of wear left. Also a lot of brake dust too.
-
Bumping this as the mods are happening next month so we'll be buying soon. I take it it's worth getting camber bolts from Fensport too?
-
These look great! I'd love to do this.
-
Bumping this as it's time to think about some more mods for the 86. For those running the B14's, how have they been? I've run Bilstein dampers for years with no issue but never on a RWD Starting to build a shopping list of bits my brother wants to change and get them all fitted at the same time. So far he's thinking suspension, uprated brake pads and replace disks and the manifold from tuning developments with a map.

MF Ghost has been going a while now. The lead car looks familiar :D. It's Initial D universe with the same characters mentioned. The main character Kanata seems to have been trained by Takumi http://www3.mymangalist.org/chapter-mf-ghost-1 people are translating it here
