Tuning Developments Manifold and Overpipe
GT86Bob replied to GT86Bob's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Aghhh! Thing is I was almost unfaithful.. I test drove a new Civic Type R and was sooo tempted and that's why I had Mike put it all back to standard so I could part ex it, but then I realised I love this GT86.... We're going to Tuscany in it in June. But I can't face handing over more money to Mike to put it back on. What a cock up!- 15 replies

I'm going to be in trouble for this I know... I'm vaguely thinking of selling my Giallo. It's a 2015 model with a Tuning Developments Tuning Package. I'll probably p/ex it at a dealers. Do you think I should have the over pipe and exhaust manifold removed? Will I get more for it without these items? Or will it make no difference to the car's value but if I put it back to stock I will be able to recoup some of the money spent on them? Or have these items not got much of a second hand value? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks Bob

I am seeking better acceleration for hillclimb events and this thought crossed my mind. Wat do you think? Get some 16 inch wheels (allowed in class as they were fitted to the Primo I believe) and put low profile tyres on them . Will it work? I'm not saying I'll run it on the road with these fitted, just in competition. Cheers Bob
-
I don;t care about looks, this is just an option for the hillclimb. I'll change them before and after the event. I agree changing ratios is better but that is permanent and this is also my daily driver. I know 16s were fitted with higher profile tyres... I was thinking about the possibilities of 16s with low profiles to reduce the oevrall diameter and hence the gearing.

My mistake. Thanks. I've corrected it. Bob

It's probably a bit late now but I got mine repaired at Hewitts Of Stourbridge Ltd , 1 Bridgnorth Rd, Wollaston, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY8 3PY Phone: 01384 396418 They did an excellent job replacing the rear three quarters side panel on mine. Bob

Anyone going to Spa for the GP? We'll be there in our Giallo in the CampingF1 site. Come by and say hello! Cheers, Bob.

Hero or Zero (German 2017 GT86 review)
GT86Bob replied to Captain Duff's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
I agree 100% with what he said about the passenger side mirror. It is unacceptable. I hadn't realized it was so bad until we drove on the continent and had to use it much more often. Bob -
Thanks for the offer Deacon but I've just ordered disc and pad sets from EBC Direct. Need them fast as I'm hillclimbing next weekend and want it sorted before then as the car's going in for the bodywork to be fixed next week and then we're off to Belgium . Cheers Bob
-
Would anyone like to hazard a guess how many more road (not track) miles I can get out of these? Also, considering the lip on the disc, should I also replace them? Thanks Bob. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Welcome! I did a few track days on stock pads. IMO when they start to fade it's time to give the car a rest anyway.

Two weeks through France and Spain in my Giallo starts tomorrow. I'll be posting pics each day on my blog if you're interested. http://beambreaking.wordpress.com All the best, Bob

Just got back. The car has been phenomenal. Really fun to drive (glad I changed the manifold and had it remapped), eminently practical and very comfortable and it got a lot of attention wherever we went. We only saw one other GT86/BRZ on the whole trip and that was a red one coming out of Kidderminster on Day 1. It needs a good clean now inside and out and of course some major bodywork. We did 2,700 miles and averaged 36.5 mpg, which is quite good for a sports car I think. Next trip is to the Belgian Grand Prix in August but before that, and before a visit to the body shop, I have two more hillclimb events at Loton Park next weekend. Lots more photos like this one on my blog https://beambreaking.wordpress.com/ Was a shame I had to miss today's TSS event but hope to rejoin soon. Cheers Bob

Yes we went over the top a couple if years ago in an S2000. Fantastic. But this we're skirting around them to make time to the Picos de Europa where we've never been. Great driving roads according to pistonheads forums. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Excellent thanks, this is very helpful. I can see now why I need to do it... it's the tilt sensor and to disarm it it's #5 on the keypad. Bob. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Well I wouldn't have thought of it myself but it tells you to do that in the stuff they send you and I remember them telling us to do it last fine I took the ferry. I'll just use the key ad you suggest. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Got my car tuned a bit today. Wrote it up on my blog - http://wp.me/pRcdo-1cQ All the best Bob

I've now lost two wheel centre caps from my standard 17 inch wheels. Is this common? Is there a cheap way of replacing them? e.g. does something else fit? Thanks Bob
-
Maybe but I don't want to pay 35 quid if they'll fall out again. I'm after a solution that is a couple of quid each ;-)
-
As the title says. (Or does anyone know what spacesavers from other cars will fit?) Thanks Bob

I hope to be able to come. Bob.

Me too. Downloaded Spotify playlists. I bluetooth them to the head unit (Clarion) but on long journeys when using sat nav I put the phone in a mount so I can always see the map while having control of the audio without faffing about with the touch screen. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
