I was getting vague unconvincing answers when I asked suppliers for the difference between Primacy HP and Primacy 3 tyres, so I wrote to Michelin. This is what they said. Thank you for contacting MICHELIN customer services. MICHELIN Primacy 3 is summer tyre for passenger cars and SUVs, introduced in 2012, it´s a development of MICHELIN Primacy HP that was launched in 2006 as a summer tyre for passenger cars only. Primacy 3 is an actual model, while Primacy HP is not being included in main product catalogues anymore and it might not be available in stock in some dimensions that it used to be produced in. The main difference is that the Primacy 3 features newer technologies, like a new compound, then grooves are improved and sipes were numbered. A tyre can consist of up to 16 different rubber compounds. However, the tyre manufacturers keep the exact composition to themselves. In order to make a good tyre, a lot is demanded of the rubber compound: low abrasion, tear-resistance, anti-slip properties, low rolling resistance, dynamic stability, air tightness and resistance to ageing. The tyre tread is made from this compound and the performance level of a tyre when driving essentially depends on this - in the wet, or in hot conditions, and when transferring lateral or linear power. The tread compound also partly determines mileage and noise properties. MICHELIN Primacy 3 Fuel efficiency: C- A Wet grip: B - A Noise level: 68 - 71 dB MICHELIN Primacy HP Fuel efficiency: F - B Wet grip: C - A Noise level: 70 dB I'm a little annoyed with my local Toyota dealer for having fitted two HPs to mine. Oh well, probably won't make too much difference when all's said and done. Quite a good response from Michelin though I think. Bob

OK I've looked in the book and searched the forum but can't find the answer. (I know it must be there in both places!) How do I deactivate the alarm (a requirement of putting the car on a ferry). Thanks Bob

I've decided to bite the bullet after just one round of the TSS and a few Loton Park hillclimbs in the GT86 and get my engine remapped. The people who look after my other cars aren't Toyota specialists but have a good reputation in the performance/competition field. When I mentioned a remap to them they said they'd use a map from SuperChips (http://www.superchips.co.uk/). I've attached the power curve graph. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have faith in my people, I just don't know whether there is a better alternative for the map or whether I should go to a GT86 specialist. Thanks Bob BRZ & GT86.pdf

Brodit phone holder for GT86 & Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
GT86Bob posted a topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
If you know the Brodit range, you'll know they come in two parts. One that fits the car called the mount and the other part which fits the phone called the holder. I've sold my GT86 so no longer need this. ProClip Angled mount for GT86 (part # 654812) = £16.99 new Passive holder with tilt swivel for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Item # 511866) = £25.99 new The holder might take other phones. You'd have to search on the Brodit website. £23 posted. Bob -
Toyota fitted these to my GT86 on a service without asking me and within a fortnight I had Cosworth pads fitted so these are almost new. EDIT - £55 £45 and I'll post them to you. I think they're fronts but am not 100% sure. I guess someone will know.

Hi All, I changed the wheels on my car. Now the tyre pressure light is constantly on. National Tyres say they may be able to get the old valves out of my old wheels but I need to know which corner of the car each wheel came off. I don't. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Cheers Bob
-
Thanks for all the replies. I got it sorted today at National Tyres. They broke one of the control sensors removing it from the old wheel so I had to buy a new one - £90. Not their fault, it was seized and they invited me to try to get it off but we couldn't without breaking it. Anyway, I found lots more info here: http://blog.toyota.co.uk/how-does-tpms-work if anyone is interested. You don't have to know which wheel they came off. All you need to do is fit a set that is matched to the ECU. National Tyres simply cloned the broken one and they keep the old one in a box for six months in case it is needed again. (You cannot take it home as its presence in the car will confuse it). A few relevant pics on my blog http://beambreaking.co.uk/spiders/ Cheers Bob

Konig Daylite wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres
GT86Bob replied to Deacon's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
I bought these wheels from Jeff back in April and have just put them on with different tyres. So if anyone wants the tyres, make me an offer. They have not been used since this advert. Cheers, Bob. -

For Sale Tuning Developments Equal Length Stainless Steel Exhaust Manifold, and Stainless Steel Overpipe. This was fitted by Tuning Developments on 17 June 2017 and removed by them on 14 December 2017. It's all perfectly good but I had it removed because I was going to Part Ex my car for something else and wanted it back to standard. I've now changed my mind about selling my Giallo but that's another story and I'd feel a right fool if I had it all put back on so I'm selling it. £600. To see the kit on Tuning Developments website see GT86 Tuning Package. Located in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Bob

Can someone tell me how to edit my signature? I found an old post from 2013 with the answer but that seems to be out of date now. Also, is there no way to preview a post before hitting the Submit Post button? Thanks, Bob.

Well that was the answer to my question wasn't it! A very intelligent summary. Since my wife often drives my GT86 and she isn't particularly 'interested in driving' shall we say, and because I'll be driving over the Alps in June and have no idea what the weather and roads will be like, I think I won't use them. I was also interested in the fact that even in the dry until they are up to temperature they do not have the grip you'd like. This seems to make them unsuitable for hillclimbing and sprinting. SO, I guess I'll sell them. This isn't the right forum for that so I'll post in the correct forum in dues course. Thanks for those answers. Bob

Hi All, I bought some wheels and tyres from Jeff last week for competition use. The tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Now my plans have changed as I have bought a different car to race. My question is - Do you think these tyres are OK for normal road use? (Not winter use - from now till about November/December) Thanks Bob
