Jeff, The TD plate looks very similar to the Mocal one. Will talk to Mike and see if he sort 92 degrees thermostat. Didn't know the thermostat can be changed. Learning something new everyday.
-
Sam I am using Torque with OBD II adpater. Before the turbo and oil cooler install it was reading 90 degrees as yours. If we assume an actual gauge is more accurate than the OBD reading my oil temp would be even cooler.
-
Thanks for the info, Jeff. I will look at getting 92 degrees thermostat and get it fitted with the recall. If you don't mind could you share a link of where you got your thermostat from? In the mean time will see if I can get the oil cooler covered with something. Thanks a lot!

Jeff Looking at the photo from TD website there seems to be thermostat plate. I will have a look tomorrow where exactly it is mounted. What temperatures you usually see on normal motorway journey with your setup in current weather conditions?
-
To be fair I have no idea where it is mounted. It is somewhere on the left side behind the intercooler. Are you running TD or Mishimoto oil cooler? It'd be nice if I can get higher temp thermostat on mine. @Mike@TD.co.uk would be able to say if the thermostat can be changed. I just worry that 75 °C is way a bit too low.

Wanted: gt86 double din fascia
vanko25 replied to matrixprotein's topic in Wanted GT86 / BRZ Cars and Parts
Hey mate, You have probably seen the kits on ebay You have got the Connects2 CT23TY33 option for £29.95 or this for £10.99. -
I'd say it probably is worth to take a look if the new manifold is not very close to your camshaft position sensor and the actuator itself. If the manifold is getting really hot it might affect the correct working order. As I said it is just a thought. I might be completely wrong.

Hey Chris Welcome to the forum. Is that photo taken in Olney? I am not too far in Kettering.

I think this is more the price for a service plan rather than just the one service. Correct me if i am wrong but it does state monthly instalments which leads me to believe it is a plan.

Vad, I guess you can always use 12mm penny washer that will pinch between the gator between itself and the knob.

wheels Will old wheels fit club edition with performance pack?
vanko25 replied to Iceman200_6's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
The might not be okay with the brembo calipers. On the Japaneese website it classes the wheels as: "215/45 R 17 87 W Tire + 17 × 7 1⁄2 J Brembo dedicated aluminium wheel (black paint / with centre ornament)" I think the stock rim was on 7" width so it might not clear the the caliper. Spacers will help the wheel to clear the caliper. -
Hey all, I recently got the TD turbo kit installed and been enjoying it over the weekends on some local B roads. Car is massive fun but the OEM brakes seem to be letting it down. The car still has the OEM brake setup and after 10-15 mins of spirited driving I can feel them fading to the point I need to step off and let them cool down a bit. So what setup will be better for spirited street driving and the occasional track day? Would Stoptech discs+pads be okay or should I consider the Reyland BBK? I don't need a setup that will not fade lap after lap, just brakes that will not fade as quick as the OEM brakes. Car is due its 6 year service later on this year which means brake fluid change too so would appreciate if you have advice on a good high boiling temp fluid too. Thanks and looking forward to your answers.

I think it is painted flat one as per the photo below from Lauren's thread.
-
It all point towards a BBK kit then. The car will be going to RRG in April/May for the recall so might as well get Garry to fit the Reyland kit. @Adam9 the more I think about it the more it makes sense to upgrade the brakes. I think you have to wait for few weeks for the kit to be assembled I think. I am sure @Lauren daily drives the GT86 and does not have issues with cold bite. Do anyone know a good place that will be able to paint the calipers in yellow? I quite like Ade's setup in yellow on red car.
-
Church I see. I didn't realise some of racing calipers don't come with the rubber boots. The CP9200 from the Reyland kit come with rubber boots so shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks all for the comments, As I said above the car I plan to the occasional track day but it will be mainly for the fun weekend drive and the summer trip through Europe (if doesn't get complicated after Brexit). The only time before I had brake fade was last summer in the Alps but it was 30 degrees and I was torturing the car for 30+ minutes. Obviously now with turbo the car gets to speeds much quicker and when braking it puts more stress to the brakes. I really like the Reyland kit but just trying to justify to justify spending the money on them. If you ask my gear head me the BBK would be already bought and installed but the sensible me says "you drive the car every other weekend can't you just upgrade the discs/pads and be easy on the brakes" With BBK is there anything to be concerned of? The car won't be driven in the winter but would ideally like to keep OEM reliability rest of the time. I don't see what will be the difference between OEM brake caliper boots and BBK caliper boots but open to hear comments.

Hi there, From what I have seen people usually put the car back to stock and sell the mods separate. I know it is going to be a pain especially with manifold and remap but I believe that way people will be more likely to buy it. After all mods are personal choice and your mods might not be to everyone taste. This is what I have seen being discussed historically on the forum. Anyone feel free to correct me. Thanks, Ivan

Glad it worked. I remember that one of the 2 on-offs was with everything off and the other was with acc on. Usually after battery disconnect I set off and remember to set stuff on the go. And then realise that it is the buzzer (rev limiter) that is with acc or with engine on and stationary and gear indicator with everything off.

I am not sure that the original mid pipe will fit with the TD back box at all. They piping is routed differently.
-
Try pressing odo or trip button with everything off. I had to do it the other day and my car is 13 reg too. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Try jp-carparts.com for part numbers. There is price in dollars too but I believe this is if ordering from japan.

As Will said Many people are after spoilerless boots. Probably if you post in the For Sale section or on the FB page that you are looking at doing a swap for the whole boot and save the hassle of painting a spoiler or fitting one. BTW Will your car looks very good mate. Saw you last night on the A43/A14 roundabout by Kettering.

I think it is affecting everyone. Looks like issues with SQL database. Lauren is aware of it and sure it will be fixed very soon.

Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
vanko25 replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
The car has already done 50k miles and @Lauren's did 120k so in theory it should be fine for another few months. My worry is what would be impact of having the TD turbo kit installed. I haven't had a chat with Rich yet but what would Toyota charge on top for the kit to be removed and installed during the recall work?
