Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
vanko25 replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
Hey all, Has any of you got a letter through the post form Toyota, yet? I am going to get the TD turbo package later on this year just would like to get the recall done first to save the hassle. -
Will be up for the supercar one at least.
-
@OnlyNothing it will be carbon like as it is GT86. The silver dash trims are available on the BRZ.
-
Really looking forward to see this running before Christmas! Fingers crossed.

Is remapping nessecary if installing uel header?
vanko25 replied to Curtthrasher01's topic in Modifications
I think you ca buy these O2 sensor spacers to fool the ECU. And they are rather cheap. -
I had a clunk noise on the rear end of my car a while ago. It turned out it was coming from the boot area where there is a joint between 2 panels. When the body is flexing there is that noise happening. RRG Macclesfield fixed it for me when I went in for service.

PistonHeads Sunday Service - BMQ HQ, December 16 2018
vanko25 replied to VAD17's topic in Social Meets
Vad, Hopefully I will make it too on the list too. I am really interested to listen to your car as it will be very close to the setup I am going for next year. Unfortunately will be in the Saab SportWagon (arguably sport) -
Is there a key flashing amber on the dash? It might be the batteries in both fobs are dead or close to dead. Try to put the key as close as possible to the start button. That is where the antenna is.

SOLD - Touch N'Go Headunit with Satnav & GPS Aerial
vanko25 replied to thetyrant's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Correct me if I am wrong but there was a discussion before that the wiring on the BRZ and GT86 is slightly different for the head units. It might be something to consider. -
@gavin_tI do like all the old Vauxhalls. Especially the Astras and Corsas with the C20XE.
-
@gavin_t the X16XE was notorious for drinking oil at the time. That is why so many people stayed with the X16SZR 8 valve ones. My dad still owns astra with the 8 valve engine and it is bullet proof. Hasn't used a drop of oil between services and it is on 250k miles.

vanko25 replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
@VAD17 thanks for sharing the info! @gavin_t this is the kind of result I am after. A bit more aggressive than stock but not loud. I had the resonated TD before on its own and it was on the loud side for me.- 23 replies

2018 Black Friday Deals From Tuning Developments
vanko25 replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
@VAD17 I have seen the video on youtube and sounded good. I will be going almost for the same setup as you, turbo with super silenced. As listening to a video won't tell the true story I was wondering if you can tell how is it like in real terms? How does it sounds at motorway speeds. I don't really want it to be any more louder than stock when cruising but wan't a bit of RAWR when trash it down.- 23 replies

I calculated it at £5149 as a total but unsure of the deposit. And can that be done in February even if I pay in January?- 23 replies

Workmanship at Milton Keynes / Bedford dealer
vanko25 replied to willclarke's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Will, Letters haven't been send out yet I believe. Once I got one through the post I will look at booking it with Rich at RRG and probably do the spark plugs when the engine is out as the car is 5 years old now. -
Workmanship at Milton Keynes / Bedford dealer
vanko25 replied to willclarke's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Will, I live in Kettering and I will be doing the trek to RRG and getting lift on the way back as they are the only place I trust. When I had a chat with Adrian at Fensport he also said that Listers Toyota Cheltenham are not bad too but never tried them. -
Thanks for the advice Will! I worked it out. Had to disconnect the positive terminal first then the negative.
-
Hi all, I am trying to disconnect the battery with the car locked but as soon as I disconnect the negative terminal the alarm goes off as it probably has a backup battery somewhere. Is there a way to disconnect the battery without triggering the alarm? Thanks!
-
I have seen them on ebay. Bit pricey at 70 quid. Link
-
Hi Sam, I will take it. On mine I managed to scratch the flap with magnetic phone holder. The bit that is damaged is held on clips so I should be able to use just the flap and main body and from yours and everything else from mine. Thanks!
-
Hi Sam, are there any scratches on the black ac flap from the 2nd photo? If there aren't any scratches how much would you want for it? Thanks!
-
I got 70mm myself because I couldn't get 100mm at the time too. I think even TD use similar bolts when they are installing the systems brand new. You can spot it on their YouTube video for the exhaust. The high tensile bolts will withstand all the vibration from the engine too so it will last long time.
-
No worries mate. I also grabbed some g clamps to hold the flange in place, it's just easier.
-
If you don't use the gasket it will be blowing badly from there. I used these bolts and washers along with the original springs (that's why you need the washers so the spring can sit on them).
