Indeed I know they used it on mine when it was on the rolling road. Just so happens it is also good fun to use on track

On the subject of brake pads I was all set for ordering PFC 08 however the reply I got from Mark at Abbey was suggesting I was going for something too aggressive and they wouldn't be suitable for the road. Anyone care to pass comment on their road manners?

@will300 Thanks, at least that highlights to me the bit I may need to modify If anyone has any pictures of the cooler itself fitted that would be grand, just to see how they are been mounted to the plastic under tray Thanks

@VAD17 cheers for the info. If anyone has any pictures of their TD cooler fitted that would be great. I have been chatting with a few knowledgeable people online and think I am going to go with the TD kit. Reasonable price, fits with the OEM air box (even if a little snug) and appears to not cause issues with over cooling.

EDIT just realised this was an old topic Was just going to say the ABS light often comes on after the car has been on a rolling road of brake test dyno etc as the car gets confused with different wheels going at different speeds. Usually clears itself after a few road miles and a restart.

All 3 companies have a good following and have done a lot of work on the gt86 platform so you would be in good hands with either. I used Tuning developments for my NA tune even though I am in south east England. Well worth travelling for the right services though. Could be worth getting a manifold and tune first either way as a toe in the water. Will also make your next step cheaper as you will have the manifold, ECU licence etc. Although on the flip side you will save a bit of labour time getting it all done at the same time. And the manifold alone wont give you that much extra power just more drivability. I was dead set on going the full hog myself but then ended up sticking with the NA tune so glad I did that first. Don't forget its also not just the cost of the kit. You need all of the associated parts to be able to enjoy it fully. Oil cooler, brakes, tyres etc. Soon adds up to double the price again. If I was picking it would be harrop from abbey or tuning developments turbo as I know many happy people with each.

Cheers all. I have been in touch with a few of the tuners. After speaking with Mike @ TD their kit seems by far the most cost effective and Mike assures me it will fit with the stock air box even if a little tight. Anyone using their kit and can share some feedback? @VAD17 do you have it on your car? My only reservation about this kit is the 80'C thermostat, would rather a higher one. Other then that I am tempted to build my own from Setrab and Mocal parts online.

Yes I agree which I why I said it will divide opinion. Quite a lot of the rally car for the road character comes from the lean and weight transfer in the suspension Looks good though

I was reading on pistonheads that Litchfield have their tuning options unveiled. Might divide opinion but I think it looks mega on the new ride height running on the coilovers

Shame they have an 82' thermostat otherwise those angled ones would have been ideal. @will300 do you manage to run the standard fittings with an OEM box? My only reason for going banjo fitting was for clearance issues.

What temp did you go for? Merlin do one for 92 'C which is what I was thinking of building one around.

Well I am living with the DS2500 on the road fine so they should be ample. Where did you source your pads from?

Cheers Something I will have to have a good look into. The Tuning developments on is best on price but as you say is just basic pipes, cooler and sandwich plate. Just been flicking through merlin motorsports catalogue and it does look like you could spec a good one yourself from their parts catalogue. Only thing I would need to cross reference with someone is the pipe lengths. Speccing your own would mean you could choose the most suitable connectors, a higher temperature opening thermostat etc.

@maurice is it the fixings at the sandwich plate the main source of clearance issues then? Yes I am hoping the Reyland brakes and oil cooler will finish what my setup is lacking in terms of track day use

Sounds like there is plenty of good choice then. Plus been a superior brake setup you can probably use a slightly less aggressive pad and get away with it. Only reason I was swaying away from the supplied DS2500 was the wooden feel I had experienced in the past with them.

Pricey aye! If they were still the price you paid I would just pay the extra for the ease of fitting and more thought out design. There is a big price difference now though! As with all things it sounds like there isn't a perfect solution then. I was hoping if I got a good one with a thermostat I would have to worry about blanking things off etc and it would just function as normal with the added cooling on trackdays

I remember you saying about their shocking QC now. FA20 have enough issues with crap floating around in the oil without that Just checked my quote and its the cosworth sump that was in the estimate from Abbey with a killer uprated pickup pipe. I think I may leave it for now and just get the oil cooler and BBK. Can always jump back in for the sump if I decide to fit bigger sticker rubber in the future. As for the oil cooler there is a big difference in price between the HKS one and the likes of the tuning developments and HEL offerings at about half the price. I know some people have commented on certain ones running too cold but is this not just thermostat related? Thanks

Ta. I think the carbon tech pads via Abbey were coming in at £222 so will see how these compare price wise. I see you and will are split between the 08 and 11 compounds.

Long corner taken at sustained fairly high RPM I suppose. Some good info from first hand experience. I presume you don't have a sump baffle @maurice

I haven't got any long scratches just a few chips. Mainly down to the Toyota paint been a bit thin and fragile. Plus I think some of mine are down to track days etc and debris flicking up.
