Well this recall just got alot for expensive! Found damage to one end of the one of the cams. Now looking at £3000 to get the car back 😐 Anyone seen simular issues before? Oil starvation to one particular area? -

Not to worry mate they have given me that price now anyway. Although I have bigger fish to fry now.... -

Now been done for £80 plugs and £220 clutch so much better now I questioned it. Thanks to the advice on here and from @Lauren So one thing I would watch for is the prices you are given. However I thought I was now all back on track but the tech had just phoned and told me the "cams and carriers" are worn and need replacing. Currently awaiting an email back with the pics and quote for the work. Not good for a 40k mile engine! Anyone else heard of this? -

If you have it to hand that would be great. Thanks. -

Might need to have a word as I have been quoted £260 for clutch and £200 for plugs. I understand all dealer groups will vary slightly but that is quite a difference. -

I approached directly as I never got a letter. Said to bring it in. Although mine isn't extensively modded just manifold, map and chassis mods. -

How much did they charge you for plugs and clutch. I am getting both of those done but am not sure if the quotes I have got are way too high. -

Mine has gone into Lancaster rayleigh today. All seems good so far. Have a friendly lady as a point of contact that seems very knowledgeable. Also went on the road test with the tech doing the work and he seems to know his stuff. Only bits I am not sure on is the quote I have been given to get the spark plugs done whilst the engine is out. What have others paid? Seems they are working fast. Already have pics of the clutch out so i am doing to take the up on the £260 for a new one to future proof her. Quite like my lexus barge I have been given too. Did try my luck for the supra 😂 (looks good in grey) -
Not far off the time I was talking. Was around 2005 I had mine. But yes less of that as I am feeling old now too. Was only going to say as I still see many of the people and admin from at forum. Everyone's cars are very wide ranging now days though, not a corsa B in sight

EP3 are good out the box however a few subtle changes make them a lot better and make the vtec less frustrating Still the best gearbox I have used though Were you ever on the corsasport forum?

Sounds like water marks, residue from where it has dried on the paint. Will have bonded on/calcium deposits etc. Shouldn't be any permanent damage. Hopefully will come off with a good wash. Failing that a light go over with something like super resin polish as mentioned above should do the trick. Wont need anything too abrasive. As for a pump sprayer I use one with some citrus pre-wash on mine and then rinse off before going at it with the normal contact wash. However it is important that it does not dry on the car otherwise you will have problems like you have experienced. Personally I find a good pre-wash as good as a foam.

Haha everyone loves a ropy red top corsa I had a corsa gsi and desperately wanted to convert it to a red top. parents talked me out of it and I brought a EP3 civic type R, well done dad Interesting your thoughts on the DC2, always heard of them been totally dependable. but agree sublime when on it but frustrating to daily.

@Carver Great to see some real independent data on them, cheers for sharing.

Discount for October - NA Tuning Package
gavin_t replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
Yes mine has passed each year since it was fitted with my very fussy local MOT chap, Just need to ensure the car if nice and warm before hand as mike says Good excuse for a quick roundabout GP session and then make sure they stick it straight on the emissions rig -
PS good diagram to explain @Deacon can tell you are a teacher

This is what tricked my when I set them up. Turned them all the way anticlockwise thinking that was fully soft and then went up 8 clicks. Which in reality does nothing. After reading online and finding out you should set them fully stiff and count back from there they have been spot on

I think the other main worry for a 50k Toyota is the "badge" A lot of the clients unlike ourselves would much rather finance a 50k sports car from BMW like an M2 etc rather then a Toyota. Would be my gut feeling. Also as you say for your 50k you can get a lot of new or nearly new car. If it was me I wouldn't know where to start Wish it was though!

Good read thanks for sharing. Sounds like it makes an excellent daily driver as you say. Will be interesting to see how the running costs of one pans out. BMW part sharing, more weight and bigger tyres usually equals higher bills. Saw a good few of them on my travels in Europe this year and agree that the colour makes or breaks them. All the rentals at the nurburgring are blue and black and do nothing for the car. However I have seen silver, white and yellow in the metal and they show the contours of the car well. For me though personally it boils down to the speed you can use and feel. The 86 for me is perfect in tuned NA form, can drive the wheels off of it and it feels fast in isolation from other cars as it transmits a good feeling of speed. Also you can get near the limits of grip and stroke through the gears and revs without massively endangering your driving licence. I drove a new Civic type R FK8 recently. MASSIVLY capable car but you would never get near the limits most of the time and are doing mach 10 before it feels fast. As much as I wish the 86 was more refined when motorway hacking it does loose its sense of speed as soon as modern cars become refined cocoons isolating you away. Anyway this is not a point in saying anything against the supra!

I am the same more or less as Will. Think I am 6 from full stiff. Served me well on the road and around the nurburgring. Stiffen them up sometimes for UK trackdays. When I first fitted them I had them fully soft and they were horrible and bouncy

Hi all Excellent day all round barring the rain. Although even with that the venue offers enough inside spaces to keep you busy. Defiantly up for going again and seeing what it would be like with more track and hill climb action Thanks @VAD17 for organising and @Rocket Panda for the spare ticket as that saved me the hassle on the gate

Forgot how little traffic there is early in the morning on a Sunday. Well early 😂

Shall see you at the cafe 😀 Hope we are not parking or driving on grass otherwise it's going to be a mess....

Although today's continuous rain isn't filling me with confidence 😂 No clean car for me...
