@VAD17 ok count me in if there is still a space going. @Rocket Panda happy to buy your spare ticket or if it has already gone I will get one on the gate.
-
@VAD17 still trying to work out if I can make this. If I get a ticket on the gate can I still join the stand? Or do we need passes etc?
-
I will start by saying the car may have done this for ages and I just haven't noticed it as I usually have some kind of background sound like the radio on. Noticed recently a faint woosh/dump valve kind of noise coming from behind the dash intermittently when I have the A/C on. Kind of ,like something is releasing pressure. Only very quite but now I have heard it once I notice it Everything is working as it should just wondered if anyone else has come across similar.

Wouldn't say mine was a grinding noise but like air been released.
-
Maybe it has just taken me about 4 years to notice it then

Discount for October - NA Tuning Package
gavin_t replied to Mike@TD.co.uk's topic in Tuning Developments
BARGIN ALERT! Still a bargain at full price so even better with this. I can confirm with the stock exhaust you get all the gains of the kit and the volume stays the same. Sounds the same at idle but with a bit of a different tone up the revs. Think I have some inside the cabin footage from track days in mine I can post if needed. (think mine still has the intake hose all connected up) Lots of other nice little touches gained as well like the removal of the cold start up and better mapping of the throttle pedal Couple of years down the line I still love mine and am glad I did it rather then jumping on the Forced induction band wagon straight away. -
Neither was I but I have recently tried the new ST fiesta and you wouldn't really know it was a 3 cylinder. Certainly have moved on along way since I last drove a 3 cylinder motor. I was pleasantly surprised. Either way it will be very interesting to see what they do. Sounds like they are moving forwards the ban on new cars been sold with combustion engines to 2035 now so electric will play a part sooner or later too.

With the way things are I would be very surprised if it stayed NA due to emissions etc. Smaller displacement and a turbo will be seen IMO

Currently looking into upgrading the front brake setup on my GT86 Looking to get a bit more consistency on track then the stock callipers offer as braking is one thing I don't have 100% confidence in the cars ability in when on track. I have tried a few different pad combos now and don't seem to suffer from massive wear or fade but often end up with discoloured discs due the heat build up and then the performance and bite seems to drop off until new pads and discs go on. Was looking at some of the popular K-sport or reyland options that I have seem people using. Or have people got any other suggestions. Cheap hacks like cooling ducts etc make a difference? Basically weekend road GT86 with about 5 track days a year is my usage, current setup OEM discs and PFC Z pads. Previously been through EBC yellow and Ferodo DS2500. Suggestions welcome

Well this thread escalated quickly @Luke Currently running OEM disks and Ds2500. Much prefer these (barring the dust!) to the Performance friction pads I had as the last two sets. I am not professing to be a track day god by any means so am not entering in the argument about the other bits but they do me fine for the amount of time my car sees track and my ability. I have not driven an 86 with a BBK but do agree with @Lauren that the feel is the main thing that gives you the confidence and therefore better ability. The OEM brakes with uprated pads do still lack in this department a little so I am probably going to go down the BBK route soon. I did have the car mod tokens saved and ready to spend on a BBK kit this year but I spent my tokens on a set of Flex A and track days instead

Ooo my topic has re-appeared The opposite to what has been mentioned here is that now my driving has improved I feel I am less heavy on the brakes and driving quicker. Feel I am carrying more speed and getting my braking done in a shorter heavier period so less chance of building heat. Circuits you drive play a big part too with some been a lot heavier on brakes then others. Worth noting that I just use standard Road tyres (Yoko V105) so as @Deacon said the rubber is one of the limiting factors anyway. I summary I still haven't gone BBK. Tried a new setup of Pads and have found them ok. I will get a kit in the future mind as I feel there is still room for improvement even if it is just the feel and confidence in the pedal rather then out right stopping power. As it stands for me its still either K-sport or Reyland AP. Probably swaying Reyland as there is yet to be a bad word spoken about them.

Seems strange to base tax on the cost of a new car as one of the criteria's or is that just a one off payment for the government to get a bit for tax from new car sales...
-
Ah didn't know the system had changed again, I am out of touch

Interesting to hear what you thought of the car. Now I saw one of these in white the other day whilst driving home. I think they look really good! Between me and the other half we have my GT86 and her Diesel 64 plate clio. Would be interesting to see how one would stack up against the clio when it comes to replacement time. She does 30k per year so would be interesting to see how a hybrid would stack up against a small diesel engined clio which can often see 70mpg in many different scenarios. Gets free tax too, what band are these hybrids?

Carlimits (2019) - 4 person day @ North Weald Airfield

Glad you all enjoyed. Lots to learn as you say and plenty to take away and work on also -
Sounds like me! Wanted white travelled all around the country looking for the right one. Brought an orange one down the road from me in the end as it was too good a deal to turn down and I now love the colour
-
Welcome aboard Not many silver 86 about either, very nice
-
As I said to @VAD17 in an earlier message I am going to have to withdraw Brown stuff has hit the fan at work post bank holiday and I am going to have to work late
-
If you don't mind getting a quote that would be great, might help out others interested too
-
The whole thing is just a field where people hang out and talk cars. Might be a Ferrari parked next to a Focus that hasn't been washed in years. No one will bat an eyelid So don't worry about where to park just park with the rest of us. Just bring some loose change as they ask for a donation on the gate.
-
Just check the size against the old ones as you swap them over to be 100%

I have Pagid pads in the rear of mine from euro car parts. They are the ones with the product code 101800268. Which according to that web page is the lower box if you select the pagid option. I rate them and use them on road and track with just uprated front pads. Although if you want brembo I am sure they are also fine, just pick them from the same box

Would you be coming down the A12? Nice and easy to find even if you did meet us there as a gaggle of 86's stand out like a sore thumb Plus if we see an unfamiliar new 86 we will wave you down
-
Could possibly be interested if you didn't mind posting and it wasn't too expensive Where abouts in the west Midlands are you?

Hope to be there, weather is looking considering its a bank holiday
