Track day gone wrong...front end parts wanted
gavin_t replied to LOWCAR's topic in Wanted GT86 / BRZ Cars and Parts
Yer bumpers, clips etc are all fairly priced I was surprised. Didn't cost too much for an arch liner, grille etc when mine inhaled a hare at Bedford autodrome Apart from the cost of a headlight, that will make you cry -
@Leevsfortyone is the man organising think there is a good few people going tomorrow.

Honda boxes on a Monday, GT86 boxes on a Friday afternoon Going from a Type R to a GT86 the quality of the shift is the one thing I miss!

If I am remembering rightly yours is a primo? Be interesting to know if there are any difference in performance between the aircon setup in yours and the climate control in the regular ones.

I have a valet pro one which looks Identical to that barring the colour. I like it compared to the lambs wool ones I had previously.

OEM Toyota pads and pagid are the only ones I have even used that didn't need filing down a little. I am not talking about taking loads off just a little to make them slide better. Didn't know things like the hub to carrier bolts were single use. I have always reused them.

good Tip I cleaned mine out when I fitted my new disks and pads last week also. I also filed the edges of the pads slightly as they were a bit of a tight fit at first. Only thing I can think of is that these new pads are a lot noisier then the old ones so maybe its only now I notice the noise plus I am driving with the window open as its nice weather haha. A bit unrelated but the original pads came with a metal backing plate that I always transfer onto new pads. Is this essential or could I bin them off? As I think these slightly contribute to the noise if I am honest....

Already checked that and there is non of those symptoms to note. think its just the new track based pads I have fitted are very noisy so I now notice it and I didn't before.

Ahoy I have a set of tein flex A coilovers to fit to my car. Need to get myself some drop links to go with them as I know for a fact I wont be getting the current ones off intact after the amount of agro they gave me last time.... So the question is: do I just get stock replacements (if so where is the best place to source barring the dealers?) Or Adjustable drop links? Not going mega low (maybe -20 / -30mm) so not sure if they are going to have any advantage or if fixed ones will suffice? Anyone with previous experience let me know

Drop links / adjustable drop links for coilovers

Ah its just the new wheels that give it that illusion then. I thought it may have been a recent change. -

I thought your car looked lower. What did you fit? I got mine off with copious use of a snap on impact gun last time. Don't fancy my chances for a second time though -
Interesting as mine has developed a constant squeal occasionally which disappears when you dab the brakes. So it is certainly from the pads rubbing. I know all sliding caliper pads rub but I am now unsure if mine are rubbing more then normal and if something has begun to stick. Think I will strip them down and have a look.

I usually have it on most of the time however it is not uncommon for mine to sit tucked away not used for many weeks at a time so maybe this hasn't helped. I will put up with it until it goes in for its recall and they can regas it for me then

Spent all day in the car yesterday as was wondering how cold it should be. Even with mine set to "low" it doesn't seem that cold, or is it just because it is so hot out side and the system isn't that great in our cars.

Carlimits (2019) - 4 person day @ North Weald Airfield
gavin_t replied to VAD17's topic in Social Meets
As said get tyres after the event. When I did it I bolted on my original wheels with some old Michelin Primacy on. Less grip = more learning at the end of the day You will learn a lot. I insure my car for trackdays but don't when I go there. Only one car on the move at a time and you would be hard pushed to find something to hit -
The sea sucker one is a good bit of kit. I personally stick mine inside the car if I have to. Although preferably I steal the other half's clio as anywhere that involves taking the bike usually means off roading or dodgy parking at the end location anyway

This sounds like the ideal consolidation of fate. All adjusters etc working and free? And standard 6kg front and rear? Very tempted if no one snaps them up in the meantime...

Hi @will300 very interested. Would you consider posting? Or I am at Curborough sprint track next week so could see if I could work it into the trip 🤔

Some good products mentioned so far. If applying by hand something like black hole or autoglym super resin Polish will be great for hiding some minor mark and giving you a nice base to apply a wax or sealant onto. The soft99 stuff is my current favorite. King of gloss will give the best finish as @lowe mentioned above. I use soft 99 fusso as I like the long term durability and hydrophobic properties of it. It is not quite as glossy however I have mine a full machine Polish prior to applying it and it still came out well.

I spoke with Mike at TD. By now I assume they will be back on the shelf as that was a couple of months ago

@Luke I ended up been more or less sure I was going to get some K-sports. Got as far as attempting to book in to get them ordered and fitted but none of the uk suppliers had any UK stock at the time. I had an upcoming trackday and needed new disks and pads. Therefore I am going to use these up first before I get back to ordering a BBK.

If I am not at Brands I will be there

Yaris? Nothing faster then a Yaris hire car -
No afraid not. That's why I brought the passes to the mid week put meet. I will endeavour to make it over if time permits.

If I can get out of work by 1 I will pop over. Although after today's antics that may not be the case... Car is clean and ready to go though if I am lucky.
