Is remapping nessecary if installing uel header?
Adam9 replied to Curtthrasher01's topic in Modifications
Another problem I'm about to run into - Fitted the TD Manifold, exhaust etc myself just getting things slowly in place to book in with @Mike@TD.co.uk for a turbo install in the new year, didn't want to pay for a remap only to have to pay again in a month or 2 when I get the turbo.... Problem is as mentioned the CEL comes on every few days - not usually a problem except I'm now due an MOT and it would be a fail if it comes on during the test. Just going to have to cross my fingers it stays off. -
Never drove mine on stock suspension but have KW V3s and it's much more comfortable and less crashy than my old Celica on stock dampers and TTE Springs. Not much help to you I suppose but I definitely found the KWs surprisingly comfortable.

Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
Adam9 replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
Are you sure it's this recall and not the one for the Steering harness? Though 2 days does sound unlikely for the harness. -

Quick someone find a dealer willing to fit forged rods while the engines open... -
The most widely fitted or at least discussed turbo kit on the forums is the Tuning Developments one, they are active on the forums and have a great reputation so might be worth a look.

Used Pagid blanks in the past and they have been fine

@Mike@TD.co.uk Any more progress on the forged build?

Thanks Jeff / @Deacon

You could also test some WD40 in a corner somewhere, it's quite an effective solvent for some things and you may have some at home.
-
Panel wipe like this would probably be the most effective solution, if that doesn't shift it then you are probably out of luck. https://www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/polishing/ipa-panel-wipe/gtechniq-pw-panel-wipe.html It's a solvent intended specifically for removing wax and polish from surfaces.

Love my heated seats, I never saw the point until I had them now I wouldn't want to be without them during the winter.

Mine is decat (as all TD), so it would be louder than a catted manifold but it still made very little difference to the exhaust sound/volume with the stock exhaust.

Help! Committee Members needed to help with the club
Adam9 replied to Lauren's topic in News & Updates
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that's kept the club going so far and to everyone volunteering to step up! -
My, experience mirrors Deacon's sentiment. Adding a TD UEL manifold added a bit of burble and a little more sound but barely anything, if you hadn't heard the car before you wouldn't realise it wasn't stock. Adding the TD resonated catback totally transformed the sound.

Not yet but I promised myself I would have one (Skyline GTR) ever since I played Gran Turismo 1 on Playstation . When I get closer to the time I will take one out for a test drive, maybe I will have a change of heart. Were you driving it alongside anything else on the experience day? I imagine most cars will feel a bit of a come down if you've just got out of a V12 lambo or something else exotic. I will probably keep the GT86 as well so I can still have fun with that in those scenarios. It's looking like the stars might align this year to make the money side of it less of an issue for a few years at least. As above I will give one a test drive closer to the time and see how I feel

Eyeing up a 2011 GTR for late next year, totally different type of car but always promised myself I would have one.

I'm in the middle of fitting a tuning developments exhaust which I picked up second hand, I've got right to the end only to realise the OEM spring bolts don't seem to fit through the holes at the cat end. Does it normally come with different bolts for this connection?
-
Worked a treat Vanko, could only get 70mm M8 bolts so it was still tough to get them through but got it eventually...
-
That did occur to me but I don't have a drill bit big enough. I think the home made spring bolt solution is probably the easiest way out of this for now. I need it ready for Japfest Donnington Tomorrow!
-
The problem I had is the holes in the collar aren't big enough to fit the wider part of the spring bolt through so even without the springs it wont work. I'm going to do as Vanko mentioned but looking at the way its built I think I could just use normal bolts. The collar is loose on the mid pipe so even with normal bolts the pipe is free to rotate a little.
-
AHH now I follow! Sounds great, thanks again
-
That's great, thank you vanko. So not spring bolts then? I'm surprised it uses the donut gasket in that case. I will make a trip down to Screwfix tomorrow!
-
Still has the donut gasket so I'm fairly sure it should use spring bolts but I'm surprised the collar on my OEM bolts is about half a mill too wide to go all the way through the plate on the TD exhaust

Cheers, where are you based? Or do you know what postage would cost?
