As I've been unable to find this anywhere else I've created a printable template for cutting your own front door speaker baffles. The preferable way to do this is to print the PDF with no scaling, it should print to the correct dimensions on A4 but check the measurement guides against a ruler before you start work to make sure they are correct. The guides should be accurate to within less than 1mm, if they are out then the template has been scaled by your printer or application and you need to try again. The second option is to use the attached PNG file and insert it into a document yourself in something like word or publisher and play around with scaling until it prints perfectly (you will probably waste a lot of paper). You will need margins set very small to fit this on the page at full size. I haven't tested these myself yet but I have sized them against existing adaptors and they look perfect. I don't believe the GT86/BRZ needs the outer corner thickness reducing so the baffles can be a single thickness with a hole in the centre. For the last time: DO NOT waste time and materials cutting against this template if the scales don't match perfectly against a ruler or tape measure etc. If you've stumbled in here searching for baffles for a different model of Toyota then these might do the trick as well, this layout is used in multiple models. Unless you are installing an amp and/or running new speaker cables I would just go with the Focals, the way the standard audio system runs the stock speakers in parallel renders the stock wiring pretty unusable for aftermarket speakers.

On a fresh boot it takes about the same time as the Toyota unit , maybe a couple of seconds longer. If you haven't left it alone for several days though it's instant on as it sleeps in a low power state rather than shutting down. Honestly i'm really impressed with it so far, it feels a bit too light compared to the Toyota unit when you first pick it up but now it's installed it all looks and more importantly sounds great.

Taobao.com Asian Market - HUGE '86/BRZ Product/Price List!!

A lot of this stuff is made on the same production lines as the real thing on a "ghost shift" : http://archive.fortune.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2006/05/01/8375455/index.htm Impossible to know what is good and what is a cheap knockoff though without someone buying one. -
Head-unit reverse signal is already in the wiring harness for the stereo on the 28 pin connector, doesn't really help much when the video lead has a conductor for it anyway though. edit: I meant reverse not brake

I agree, I've picked one up to play with and see if the audio quality is up to par, strangely my one has the CD slot but it's blanked off behind. It looks a little less odd but still a bit bizarre. The only saving grace is that with a bit of messing about you can re purpose the buttons for a different function.

Welcome, car is looking well looked after. See you at Japfest!

Not ideal but it's stable and supported which is more than most android units. Pick your compromise..

This is probably the most established direct replacement : Joying Toyota Universal Headunit It has a decent processor, 2GB of memory and Joying are quite active with updates and development. It doesn't require any adaptors although it will be easier to install if you also order Joyings Toyota Hilux wiring Harness.

Hey welcome! You have a beautiful car, I know what you mean about looking back every time you get out I still cant stop looking at mine.

Yeah I wouldnt miss out on that, unless as Ade says I end up with a headunit with DSP I will likely be using a miniDSP and REW.

Looking at the inevitable ice install and trying to come up with full stealth solutions for the sub. I'm planning on fabricating something myself and was wondering if anyone else has anything implemented here, if so I'd love to see some pictures of what you or your installers have done. I'm pretty sure @Lauren you have something similar, do you have any pics of the enclosure under the false floor? It's an awkward very shallow space, Ideally it would be fiberglassed but I'm trying to avoid that as it's an incredibly messy job in the boot of my pristine new car!
-
Ahh thought it was likely to be someone from here. Pretty sure you will have it done first, seems like you already have most of the kit.

Thanks Lauren, that's really helpful. I agree reflecting off the windscreen is probably not the ideal location for the tweeters, I will probably try a few locations. Shame the usual A pillar location isn't available on the GT but yours look like the next best option. Plan is to replace the head unit, add a MiniDSP, 4 channel amp and run it 3 channel to a set of probably morel Tempo speakers in the doors and a Peerless XLS 10 Sub if I can get it all to fit. Just trying to figure it all out before I start buying things.
