Welcome aboard. Not a bad car history there. There are a number of members going to Simply Japanese. The rest of us are doing a track day at Blyton Park.

It does make it pretty loud on start up. Particularly in the winter. But other than that whilst it's a bit louder, it doesn't drone at all. I've had mine like this for the past 77K miles. Quite happy with it. JFDI etc.

Softer compound and kerbs etc. They'll just wear down with road driving. It's when they go blue, you know they've heat cycled too many times and the grip will drop off.
-
It just looks like abrasion you'd get from driving on track.
-
They are just stock G2 settings.
-
If it's any help, here's my settings. Don't forget I'm running 5/6kg springs and my rear dampers are 20% stiffer, so YMMV.

As suspected, the GT86 retains it's nicer rev counter colouring over the plain offering in the BRZ:

That will be far more specialised though, Nigel with a corresponding price tag to match. There is no way the FT1 will have an auto box with paddles on the steering wheel.
-
I can't see why they would. It would require significant re-working to make it able to handle another 100bhp, but for the stock engine it's fine.

225's on an 8" rim is fine. I'd go 8.5" to pull the sidewall slighty and give a little less flex whilst cornering. A 235 won't be as good as a 225, I would say. You'd certainly want an 8.5 or 8.75" wide rim for a 235. I think 235s are over tyring the car though. I run a 215 (stock sizes) on an 8" rim. I've tried 225, but didn't like it. Too much sidewall flex. Sidewall flex will be a little less on a 40 profile tyres versus a 45 like I had though.

I used to do this, one day my wheel fell off. I have used a torque wrench ever since.

As ever, people miss the point I think. I don't understand why there is such an obsession with people wanting Toyota to produce a car that is modified to their needs. The car is made for the aftermarket and that really is the point. This is why the AE86 over 30 years later still has such a huge following and why there are still so many parts available in the aftermarket. Toyota want this for the GT86 and that's how it is. It gives so much more choice and you buy the car as a starting point to make your own. Just like all those that have AE86's did previously. Historically Toyota have always offered a relative lack of change in spec for the UK market, compared with other markets. Their general approach is to offer a car that is more or less fully loaded and only sell one or perhaps two specs of model. I doubt that will change anytime soon.

Either, I think it's the same thing.

Here's a link to the thread for all of Initial D from stage 1-5.

The Yoko V105's are a really good upgrade over the Primacy tyre. You can still drift it if you so wish.

I don't think you do, though Rob, may well correct me. It's better to link from flickr etc. It's what I've always done.

86 pages of course! It's the GT86 Bible. It tells you about it's heritage, i.e., 2000 GT, S800, AE86. Talks about it's design and cues that hark back to elements of the aforementioned cars it took it's design from and also it's character. So it's about the ethos of the car and what Toyota set out to achieve with it. It's actually a really good book. There is also some cool pics and a montage to the AE86 and all the motorsport stuff. Well worth having.

(Weight?) But if you're going to paint it as let's face it I can't see it looking good unpainted, there's really no benefit.
-
I think you have a bit of a problem in that hardly anyone has a BRZ and nobody with a GT86 is going to want a BRZ front bumper. Also I'm not sure what the advantage is of carbon fibre. It might be a bit lighter, but the plastic ones will hardly weigh a huge amount.
-
Looks good. No side stripes then? I think you need them to finish it off.

Chris Evans is not doing anymore. I was a little surprised that Chris Evans didn't persevere, but I'm sure most will be happy. I was less bothered by him as time went on and didn't really mind him tbh. I have to say, though possibly one of the best TG series ever. Much, much prefer the new presenters over the old. Last night's episode was another corker and Extra Gear just adds to it. I really hope they maintain the format for the next series.

You'd need a lot of people to put their names down to make it worthwile. If you only get five, its barely worth it for the meagre saving. 10, more so. We would finance it by getting people to pay to the club and then once all the money is collected we could do the purchase. A lot of people already have it though, so it would depend on interest of course.

My car is a kouki (late), the Initial D car is a zenki (early), so it wouldn't be correct to put the Fujiwara Tofushop stuff on it. You mean your son hasn't yet seen Initial D?
