    Recommend me some tyres!

Another vote for the exceedingly good value that is the Yoko Advan V105's.

The auto has intergalactic gearing which is why. Plus it will upshift sooner.

    "New" Top Gear

Watched last night's episode. I thought it was a significant improvement over last week. Jenson Button was brilliant and the road trip was an enjoyable watch and hugely helped by the lack of three clowns making it utterly contrived. I still don't understand inviting guests on to the show who have no interest in cars. To be fair to Evans, I liked his piece about the F1, not a bad thing to see a bit of emotion there too. His excitement came over and that is a good thing. Extra Gear was okay, though not helped by a lack of Chris Harris. It needs him.

    Milltek Resonated or Non-Resonated?

Go for non-res. Resonated is just too quiet.

They are good on longer trips. I managed 37mpg on a 2500 mile trip round the Alps and back, which is pretty good really. It's around town they don't do so well. I average 29mpg just driving locally.

    Hi from Leicester

Welcome aboard, all the way from IMOC. Plenty of info here and if you fancy meeting up with fellow owners, check out the events and social sections. It's certainly the time of year where it's all happening. Looks like you'll have some nice weather for a drive tomorrow evening.

    Tom's Project

Ah, if you're going to lose the first cat, keep the second. It makes sense. I've just lost my second cat. Got an overpipe back Milltek. It was fine with the MOT.

You might as well lose the second cat. All helps.

    OEM Discs and Pads

How many miles have they done? I'll have the discs if they've done less than 20K miles.

    Cossie up and running

Nice, enjoy! Look forward to catching up at meets. Welcome back.

Not wishing to disagree, but I don't understand how a cooler thermostat improves throttle response idling in traffic.

I'd be wary of the carbotech. Brilliant though they are, the squeal drove a friend bonkers, he switched back to stock pads in the end.
  13. Welcome aboard. Are you sure it's a '61 plate' though? As the car wasn't launched until 12 plates came out (July 2012). Guessing 62 plate (2012-2013). Like Keith said, it's worth changing a few other things before remapping, only to save doing it again.
  14. That is because sixth is too overdriven, so you can't get to top speed in sixth.

    "New" Top Gear

Some should go back and remember how bad Clarkson's TG was when it started in the early noughties. It took time to get better, I see much the same happening here.

    "New" Top Gear

I was a little frustrated by Evans's shouty style. If he'd just spoken normally like Matt did it would have been fine. Not convinced of the content. I mean who cares about dicking around in shite cars like Reliants. Also the added bit with the landroves and jeep, didn't add anything. But then the old TG was stupid for this too. I thought the Ariel Nomad feature was alright with Matt showing some driving flair. The article on the American muscle cars was okay, though Chris struggling to use terms such as over and understeer, but it was okay. I really liked it that they have a rallycross track. I mean who wouldn't want to have a crack at rallycross eh? Also was good to see they have a rallycross car and not some boring car that nobody ever buys. That was an improvement I thought. I'll never understand though why they bother inviting on celebrities who have no interest in cars. What is the point of that? Gordon Ramsay was okay though and did pretty well on the new track. The other guy, Jesse something, useless driver, no real interest, why invite him? I watched Extra Gear afterwards and thought that was alright. But again why invite a guest with no interest in cars. Seriously just get rid of them and find some unlikely petrolheads out there to feature. I quite liked the Chris Harris bits, I did find Roly playing the part of the car idiot at times though, you know those people you meet who think they know about cars, but in reality know very little. Well I'm sure he's not like that, but he was almost set to play the opposing point of view to Chris Harris. The piece about Sabine was good enough. Overall, yes some way to go, with Evans needing to turn the volume down and stop thinking he's JC on TFI Friday, but I expect he will get there. Matt Le Blanc was alright I thought and I did quite enjoy the Extra Gear episode afterwards.

Maybe you need a better choice of pads?

Welcome aboard, plenty of meets down south, in fact you could have been at the Grasshopper yesterday! Still, summer is here so plenty more to come.
  19. Put simply you cannot stall the torque converter in the normal way you would launch an auto. This is normally done by standing on the brake and throttle at the same time then letting go of the brake. Having had a go at a sprint in a friend's auto, the only way to launch it is to simply floor the throttle with the revs at idle which generally costs a second off the line.

    Just renewed Toyota breakdown cover...

Stan had this problem when he wanted to get his car recovered as they would only take his car to the nearest dealer, not where he wanted to go which was probably Fensport. He had to take out alternative cover.

In all honesty, what you report is perfectly normal for what happens when you get brake fade. The drop in pedal when you are stationary is due to the servo. Happens on every car.

Still, at least you have a bank holiday weekend to get those coilovers on.

If you want to sell it, I'd suggest putting up better pics than that.

    Hello from a Newbie

Welcome aboard. Another ginger eh? It's been proven in the TSS that white is the fastest colour. As for a remap, yes well worth it. Did mine at Tuning Developments in Warrington. Worth changing the exhaust and all that first, so you can do it all in one go.
