Autoglym Perfect Bodywork and Wheels Gift Collection £20
Lauren replied to GT86-Ian's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
That's a pretty good deal to be fair, if only I ever polished my car or used any of that stuff. -
First thing I did too was go on the motorway and max out my Golf GLS at a heady 105mph on the speedo! In all seriousness though motorways are the safest roads. I think a compulsory post test requirement should be X amount of hours motorway driving tuition.
-
It is for articulated trucks but that's it!
-
If it seized up it would be a warranty claim anyway. But nobodies has to my knowledge. I'm on 51K using no oil and still yet to have a warranty claim for anything.
-
Tbh I don't know of any early engine failures due to these reasons.
-
LOL!
-
I think you might well be the first, Ed (LFA) excepted who seems to have gone a bit quiet on here of late to change the pistons and rods. It's okay, we'll learn from you.

There's basically no adjustment for camber really, unless you fit offset bushes at the rear or camber plates/coilovers on the front. You could easily dial in more understeer by having some toe in on the front and perhaps more toe in on the rear.
-
Depends on whether there is a central reservation or not too. So it could be 60mph or 70mph (with a central reservation). I don't know what the answer is for a learner though.
-
You'll need offset bushes to adjust the camber. I run 1.75 degrees negative on the rear and 2 on the front. Makes quite a difference. You will need camber bolts to adjust the front. I have coilovers with adjustable top mounts which makes it a doddle of course. Also I have slightly reduced rear toe in. The car is much sharper to drive, makes it more lively as well.

Don't forget the auto has longer gearing than the manual which does affect acceleration.
-
Open diff is for the American's they prefer it that way.
-
Welcome aboard, interesting how you found out about the car! I used to have a Hilux Surf, was good for towing and the off road stuff.
-
Well it certainly looks fast down the main straight compared to the other cars there.

I think this is what you're looking for Jay: http://www.meisterr.co.uk/products/gt1/
-
It will to a point, Jay, though that is an atypical engine.
-
Camber plates look adjustable on the 86 version.
-
That does suprise me and you say you've only covered 150 miles? Wonder what mine is like at 51000miles? Also interesting to see all that gunk in the waterways, again not what I'd expect really.
-
I think you get used to it after a while. I always have music on anyway, so don't hear it that much. After 50,000 miles I don't mind it anymore. I thought to myself today that it sounded alright. Just for comparison when I originally got my AE86 it didn't have any anti-squeal plates and it was ear piercingly loud, to the point of embarrassment. It did go away once I fitted said plates thankfully. So I don't the GT86 is that bad. Yes they make a little noise, but it's livable I think. I've done the mileage to prove it!

A mega amount of work, Jay, well done! Think you need that support in the middle as there's a lot of flex. You'd think there'd be some aerodynamic benefit perhaps, more preventing lift than generating downfarce though I would suspect. I guess it depends upon how it translates to the airflow on an 86 in comparison to a GTR.
-
I guess it begs the question, do you want to make silly horsepower? What are you aiming for in this respect?
-
It depends upon how much boost you want to run. The lower the compression the higher the boost, but I guess you are going to get more lag if you're going for a big turbo.

Actually the full leather option is grippier than you might expect. It is firmer on the base too as the leather doesn't give as much as the alcantara. I have the alcantara. Full leather wasn't an option when I bought mine.
