Having driven Keith's auto enough I can confirm it really is just dire off the line. You just sit there, floor it and wait for something to happen. Also if you have the standard auto intergalactic final drive it just makes it even slower, absolutely everywhere. I know Keith has changed his final drive which is a significant improvement but there is nothing you can do about launching the auto, it is just not possible. Personaly I think Toyota advertised the auto as slower because it is.

Thanks to a tip off from a Japanese friend, we are now driving up to Ikaho which is where Initial D was set. Mount Harunasan which is of course Mount Akina in Initial D. There are a lot of settings you can visit which the manga was based on. There is even a museum with the front of the original Fujiwara Tofu Shop complete with sign and obligatory AE86 next to it: We can also drive the touge on 'Mount Akina'. Unfortunately it now has speed humps. But I'll bet we'll find some good roads before heading over to Mount Fuji for our next stop. Reckon there might so much Initial D stuff that it may be worth a further day trip out from Yokohama.

The diff oil change is included in the service cost as you might expect. Given Toyota have set prices you'd think it'd be pretty straightforward really.
-
Based in Suzuka? It looks close to Nagoya which we are visiting, but there are some classic tuners also in this area. We have a pretty tight schedule and will be doing the Toyota museum as a priority. We won't have a car at this point either.
-
If I see anything in regard to that Keith, I'll let you know. It's going to be a bit pot luck with tuners though, we'll just drop in on them and see what happens. The thing is I would expect that it would have to be a pretty serious tuner to be able to undertake the expense of wind tunnel testing. So I'm not sure how I'd find out about it. If you know of any tuners then maybe I could visit them?

Yep, it must be surely. But it also says 'oversized' which I don't understand in this application.

It cost £3000. I drove the car in and picked it up two days later.

Okay, I wasn't happy with the stock setup and the JBL wasn't quite what I wanted either. So, I decided to take the plunge and go for a professional install. I chose a local guy in Macclesfield who has had a shop doing this for over 35 years. As it turns out he knows his stuff. He used to go those mad ICE competitions in the states where you have to play a tone for five seconds and he met the guy who hand makes Focal speakers in France. In all honesty, I really think I treated myself with this, but life is short and it was another thing I had to tick off on my list.Apart from the head unit which chose myself, everything else was specified by the installer. I just gave him a budget and an idea of the kind of music I like. I love lots of bass so a prerequisite was that it had to deliver in that department.I went for an Alpine W925R, which is the one with DAB.Focal KR2 165sHertz 950 5/3 channel ampJL 12" sub (sorry can't remember which one).Audison Bit10 DSPThen Focal KR2 165s which are a two way coaxial which are kevlar:Corresponding tweeters:Front speakers and crossover:Car in the workshop:Audison Bit10 Digital Sound Processor. LOL! I must admit, along with green, I dislike yellow the most on cars. There's a reason for it. Many years ago I had a yellow car. No AC in those days. Every time I pulled up anywhere with the windows down the car would attract wasps, bees and flies. It was a nightmare tbh.

Hi Dan, welcome aboard. Reckon you are the first TRD to have a turbo conversion! Are you really having a 'lightweight crankshaft' fitted though? Is it steel and how much? Also 'lightweight' alternator and water pump? Is this trying to save weight?
-
Is it just me or are all your pics upside down?
-
Here's a pic of it if this helps:
-
Stephen, I didn't install this, I got someone else to do it all. So I've no idea.
-
Our rail passes arrived today. Green class is first class in Japan.
-
Nice enough, but I guess all we can do is speculate really.
-
No idea, Stephen. It has been working fine for a year and a half. Yes it gets hot, but you would expect that I guess. It's cut out through thermal overload twice. The first time was when I was travelling in high temperatures to Germany. The car was fully loaded with the amp covered. The second time was when going up the Stelvio Pass, again in a lot of heat and the amp was covered by luggage. That aside it seems to be fine, but I do try not to to put luggage directly over it.

I think there has only been two failures in the UK. So not exactly many. Mine has also done a lot of miles too. Given the lifetime warranty I'm sure they'll want to address the issue.
-
White and black is best. The yellow and white and green and white are not good.
-
It's just a little bit noisier. You wouldn't be able to notice any difference in performance, not with a small crack. Who knows whether they'll change the design or not. Probably not I'm guessing.
-
I'm sure it'll be sorted, I'm not worried about that. If it helps I've done 40K+ miles now, so a fair bit of mileage. Pretty sure mine is cracked on the weld to the pipe.
-
Looks wicked. I hope you're at JAE this year! Just one thing I noticed from earlier, your top mount bolts on your Teins are together. They are supposed to be apart.
-
If you put in camber bolts and offset bushes for the rear wishbones and put on some more negative camber it will really sharpen the handling up. You could do that without lowering springs. But, personal preference of course and if you're happy with the way it is...
-
Not yet, no. By run in, I mean everything, gearbox, diff and all that stuff. The engine loosens up more too.
-
That's the thing that sums up the pettyness really. If for example you wanted to PM everyone here to tell them about the GT86OC then you could we're not worried by that. I suppose also the reason we set up this club was because we were unable to grow the OC and make it a club for the members in the way we felt it should be. But, all said and done, I'm well past worrying about any of that stuff anymore. We have a good growing social scene here now and I'm no longer worried about being able to post on there. In response to Dave, I think it almost becomes inevitable that there will be more than one club for a given marque as I guess people end up wanting different things as was arguably the case here of course.
