I think the HID's are very good. The problem is if you fit lower spec lights and put brighter bulbs in them it tends to dazzle everyone else.

Looks like really nice day out. Pity it was a bit too far for us. We had a nice drive out over North Wales instead and a BBQ with Neil. Action packed, but good fun. -
The rear speakers are pointless. Really though a sub is what you need to compliment the front speakers. But ditch the rears, you don't need them. Also an amp and a DSP. But it will add a lot of weight. I would go Alpine for the head unit. I don't think there is such a thing as a low weight head unit, but I might be wrong.

I've just reversed into a post at Sainsbury's taking some paint off the rear bumper. Might give that a go! -

I've done high speed spins before, but really if there's plenty of room as in that scenario there isn't that much to worry about.

Not at the moment, Jay. I find the stock brakes to be perfectly adequate for what I'm using them for. I've got a set of used stock discs and pads (kindly donated by Dave) going on in a few weeks time. In the future I might try uprated pads.

I've got an expensive month coming up. I will need tyres, brake pads and probably new discs too. The standard brake pads have lasted incredibly well managing 36K+ including a few trackdays and a few sprints and quite a few mountain passes. They are not bad on track, but do cook a bit. I did three passenger rides back to back at the sprint last weekend and they were really starting to smell. To be fair they were still working okay, but I'm not sure they would take another lap of abuse. So, the Stoptech's are cheap in comparison. There is the highly regarded Carbotech XP8's which don't seem to come with new backing/anti-squeal plates. That would be a problem in my eyes cost is expensive, more than standard pads I think. There is also a TRD option. Not sure on this one. Thoughts welcome. I will be going for OEM discs, think they are perfectly fine.

Not that lairy then. Pretty hard to drive in a straightline by the looks of it.

Excellent stuff, Steve. What spring rates are you rocking with? -
Great stuff, Jay. Tbh a bit more front brake bias is preferable for trail braking anyway.

They make it easier to adjust, but that won't help your ride comfort issue.
-
I expect you may make 215bhp following the remap. 220bhp may be a bit optimistic. An exhaust on mine with a decat and injen induction made (best guess comparing to what a stock car made) 10bhp more and an extra 16lb/ft of torque.

I think everyone got it. It could be, but being on a weekday and having to gain a place on the trackday make it more difficult as it is not certain who will win a place.
-
Just out of interest, didn't you have the BC's fitted. How did you find them?
-
Sounds like you want a 'comfort upgrade' rather than handling per se. The short answer is no, you can't add anything to improve the ride over rough ground. The longer answer is that the dampers are relatively short stroke as standard which means there is limited travel to start with, so this makes it harder to achieve a more comfortable ride. If you went and splashed out 4-8K on coilovers that are rally spec, then yes you can get an amazing ride over rough ground, though you'll likely need to rebuild them at every service. They'll be absolutely amazing but for obvious reasons nobody does this on a road car. I have the Tein flex with EDFC active pro and this does a pretty good job of making the ride supple enough, but tightens up when you load the suspension as it's got active control of the damping force that adjusts constantly from soft to hard according to load. But even then rough ground will make itself felt. That will cost you about £2.5K fitted and should last pretty well. Also the full travel of the dampers is kept because you have adjustable spring platforms. When you lowered your car on stock dampers by 25mm, you lost 25mm of travel.

Great stuff, sounds good. What are the specs on the wheels just out of interest?

Great idea, I did wonder about doing this.

Maybe all of us that are local could put people up. Go for a drive out, go to RRG or something then out for a meal in the evening like we've done before?
-
Okay, we've had some issues. Initially we were going to Donington and then there was an option at Rockingham which I looked into with Jonny at BaT, involving a skidpan and/or trackday, but it was too expensive. Rab has looked at some other ideas but these have not come to fruition. All ideas welcome. About the best I can come up with is a night in a hotel somewhere central and a drive out. In all honesty though we are getting a bit late in the day now though.

It was Mark who just got quad tips welded on. Richard went to JP and had a rear section made up.
