    New wheels. 17x8 ET38 Volks TE37s.

I've also ordered some new Volk Racing/Rays stickers for my wheels from Nengun in Japan. Only £36 to get some new stickers shipped over!

No, not at all, Rob, it's merely cosmetic. I'm getting them refurbed and powder coated pillar box red next weekend. Obviously that wheel will get straightened at the same time.

Looks like I will be dropping them off for refurbing next Saturday. Exciting stuff!

    Touch & Go DAB options

DAB ready means it's possible, but you will need a DAB aerial and some sort of kit that probably sits behind the head unit. If you didn't have T&G I would suggest ditching the stock head unit which is at best poor, but obviously you've paid £750 or so for the sat nav option, so you don't want to lose that.

Here's a pic of the rim that needs straightening:

Why would I tell my insurers I have a 'bent rim'? I intend to get that rim straightened anyway. It's not a big deal.

The wheel nuts have just arrived, all the way from Japan!
  9. Shame that painted it green. Green is always the wrong colour I think.

    GT6 Anybody?

The first corner, is Paddock Hill Bend. The uphill hairpin is called, Druids. I know it was my local circuit where I grew up! I've raced there too.

    GT6 Anybody?

Turn in later I would say and go in with less speed but carry the speed on the exit. You're talking about Paddock Hill Bend.

    Hello.. Light side ;)

I was going to say 106db is ear splittingly loud. That would be painful to stand next to it. I'm very surprised that you are anywhere near this kind of level at all. Every 3db is roughly double, so that is crazy loud. I'd expect my car to be around 95db. I know I have a Milltek with a decat and non-res and whilst it is loud-ish I don't think I'd ever encounter a problem on trackdays. Maybe get another measurement just to check it really is that loud? I used to witness a load of noise testing when I worked on pitlanes on trackdays in years gone by.

Looking to buy a modified car... from a dealer.

Alex it might be worth mentioning that you are advised to use only super unleaded and not 95. I've never used 95 RON in my car.

    Fensport Performance EcuTek ECU Remaps

Ah, thanks very much, glad it helped. If I remember, I had that article published in an MR2 magazine in Australia many years ago, but yes, good idea about a 'how to'. I'd be interested to know any mpg differences post map.

    Hello.. Light side ;)

Hi Josh, welcome aboard. Think you should definitely go for the induction and the exhaust, stock it's just too quiet.

The clutch pedal is raised the moment you have selected your next gear. Never, ever drive with the clutch down (known as coasting).

I'd say take more time to learn to heel and toe properly. I wrote this article in 2003: http://www.mr2.net/trackdayqueen/heelandtoe.htm

    Scottish Meet - 27/4/14

Mark won't do karting, Rab. He's really crap at it.
  21. Not sure it if will help, Keith, but if you get into a 'tank slapper', then you've applied too much steering lock, too late. Some might call it 'over-correcting'. Also balancing the throttle in these situations helps or lifting, just slightly. Sounds like you all had a good day, must admit, I was a bit jealous when I saw the weather as I think you learn more from wet trackdays than you do in the dry. Also you get no tyre wear to speak of, less fuel and less brake pad wear. But I think the wet is more fun.

It does depend on the kind of driving you do Rob, though if you're doing over 20K a year, then you'll want to get reasonable economy.
  23. Got this card from Mark: The important bit is what's in the card of course! These ordered through RRG Macc of course: Mark has ordered them unpainted. Depends a bit on what I do with the wheels. If I do change the wheels to red, might be tempted to paint these to match. What do people think? I would have gone with carbon if it was real carbon, but I'm not keen on carbon effect really. Other option is black or white.

The outdoor would be mega in comparison to the indoor, but then the price reflects this. I'm okay to pay £50 but I wonder if people will think it's too much.

Speak to Richard at RRG of course. Toyota are unlikely to do all the turbo mods on finance and you'd have to question why you'd want to as it would load the repayments significantly with that amount. I'm sure you could buy a car with a few mods like exhaust and perhaps a few cosmetics through Richard then it's off to Adrian and pay him for the turbo mods directly. Obviously do the same for the audio system. Personally I saw it as an advantage to get my audio install fitted separately to the finance as I won't pay any interest on it of course and it separates it from the finance of the car. Personally I don't think getting 25.5mpg is impressive, that is terrible. Fuel costs do factor when you are doing 20K+ miles a year. I do nigh on 30K a year and average around 35-37mpg in general driving. 25.5mpg would reduce the range a bit, that's poor I think.
