Good news that the damage is superficial. -

Hmm, I'm actually starting to warm to my winter tyres. They do seem to generate good grip as long we're in single figures temperature wise and are surprisingly grippy in the wet. I think my initial problem has been that due to them losing a bit of feel over the Primacys, it has taken me a while to acclimatise. I think that for a while I've struggled with less feel in the steering and that has been a problem in helping me to ascertain the grip levels.
-
I think you could try it, but I honestly wouldn't bother. Think they'd be overheating after a couple of corners. Unless it's very cold of course.
-
Had a think about it, gone for white already painted. Hopefully should be hear in a couple of weeks.
-
I think you might overheat those and badly Mike were you to use them for sprinting. I must admit, I don't slide around too much on mine as I'm constantly worried about wearing them out in the higher temperatures we have. I'm also struggling with having any confidence in them in the wet or dry. I notice they are better when it's cold, but it just hasn't been cold. Mind you they are borderline okay in the temperatures of 8C we're currently having, but anything over ten and it's no fun at all.

I'm generally finding that I would likely be better off on Primacy's as the temps are high where I live (Manchester). I'm sure we'll eventually get a cold spell, but I do wonder if I need winter tyres for even two months of the year. Where do you live?

Nice Speedhunters item - GT86 Race Series

Great article. -
Yeah, it's not been cold enough for them. Temperatures are still in working range for the regular tyres, so am struggling at times. I guess the next month or so will see if they prove their worth. Only thing is, it doesn't snow where I live.
-
Decent gains there. Bit of a result winning that as a prize. Think my HKS oil will be going in at the 30K service in a month or so.
-
Ah, okay, that's interesting. Had no idea there was a carbon version of the OEM spoiler.
-
What I was asking, is the stock spoiler a carbon version or wrapped? I only ask as I wasn't aware that you could get a stock spoiler in carbon fibre.
-
Ah yes, loving the carbon boot lid. Interesting that you went for a stock spoiler, guessing it's wrapped? Looks good though.
-
Looks good Chris. Can I ask what are the red lines, pic of four of them? Are they brake lines or something to do with the fuel system? Also have you got any pics of the car you could put up. Would just like to see what it looks like.

Happy Birthday. :+:

Some tests, albeit on cone type filters: http://www.mikekemper.com/elantra/filters/

Probably the K&N is your best bet. HKS have a poor reputation for filtration. I don't really think any of the kits will add anything significant power wise, but it might sound a little different.

In a little bit of a rush, parking up for a work emergency, but obviously my own stupid fault. Was reversing next to a telegraph pole looking in the bottom corner of the mirror so I didn't kerb my wheels. The pole was a bit closer than I thought and bent the mirror back cracking the black plastic surround. All works okay, though will need a new black plastic surround at least of course. I did manage to pop the surround over the mirror, so it may have pulled the surround away from the housing. Will try and have a look tomorrow, but looks like a trip to RRG Macc come Monday morning!
-
It's the housing that is cracked, not the painted panel.
-
Welcome along, Chris. I've heard all about your mohican. Must say, that's an impressive amount of mods!
-
I'd reckon matching paint wouldn't be much of an issue on a car that's less than a year old, albeit with 27K on the clock. If it's sprayed OEM white, then that would just be the same as the painted TRD part anyway.
-
It will reduce sidewall flex, so making the sidewall feel stiffer.
-
Looks great Jay. I'm not a fan of spacers, but a bit less offset would push the wheels out into the arches a little more.
-
I'm not convinced it's worth the effort at the moment, Mark. Damage is so minimal you'd argue if it's worth worrying about. Will take my time, January is a busy month. Will wait and see if anything pops up in coming months, no rush to sort it out really.

There seems to be a leaning towards white. Hmm..
