    Newbie, long time coming

Welcoe aboard, glad you've found the club to be a useful resource. What have you done to it so far?

NW: Jap2Jap - now in Warrington Sun 21 April

This event is fast approaching, so far there's three of us, let's get some more!

    Shell V-Power > CEL

It's not the petrol. It would take time to come through anyway. Get an OBD reader on. Shell V-Power is better than Tesco Momentum. Ask any tuner. I only use V-Power with mine and have done for 127K miles. It's an EML, not a CEL, that's for Americans.

    BBK Options

I think it took about a week or two for my Reyland kit to arrive. Gary fitted mine was well.

    BBK Options

As Jeff said, Will did indeed do his research which was of great benefit to me when I was looking to upgdrade my brakes. Maybe have a read of this, plenty of info:

    BBK Options

It's hard to know how to respond to this one too. All the kits look good value. I've got the 330mm Reyland 4 pot AP kit. It's fantastic. I did not go with K Sport as they are a lesser known brand and I was concerned that replacement pads choices may be more limited. But really I wouldn't touch K Sport because they are not well known compared to the likes of AP and Brembo. From what I understand if you put a set of 4 pot Brembos for an Impreza it messes up the brake bias. The Reyland kit doesn't have this issue. Just to add I've had the Reyland non-floating discs on for a year and a half and 20K miles. No problem at all whatever the use. I think my pads and discs will likely last another 20K miles, which makes it good value.

    New Red Gt86

Welcome aboard. Already committed on your other thread about reverse sensors. You're way better off getting an aftermarket head unit with sat nav in all honestly. The stock head unit is not very good.

    Reverse Sensors

Mine seem to work intermittently. The problem for me is that mine will work just fine most about 80% of the time and at other times I just get a continuous beep so it's probably the sensors themselves. I think it's just age and mileage.

    Final drive change

I've not tried it, have I? I've tried the other shorter final drives and didn't rate them. I think the gearing is absolutely fine as it is. Why change it?

    Smudge's supercharged V8 build

That's a real shame, but obviously hindsight tells you, you should have checked. A decent mechanic would have put a sticker on it saying 'oil', so you knew though. I think you will be going down a bit of a development road sorting out all the niggles and what gives when you do get round to finally giving it a good run. It's all that stuff that takes the time, making the car reliable. All these things are to be expected. Real shame about the diff though. But chin up, you've got three weeks or so till Japfest. 👍

    Final drive change

I suppose you have to weigh it all up. A friend of mine spent ages trying to persuade me to do it. Though he only used his car on track and sprinted it. I do a fair bit of touring and my car is my every day car, so there was no advantage in doing 400 extra rpm on the motorway for example. I have done a fair number of Euro trips in my car. I can't see any problem with having plenty enough fun on NSL roads with the stock final drive, seems just fine to me. It may feel more responsive with a shorter final drive but in the real world it makes little difference, where you gain you lose elsewhere. I also felt that first gear became way too short. I wasn't blown away by one I drove with the lower final drive, I just found the gearing to be a bit short over anything else. Some also complain of diff whine too, which may or may not bother you.

    Final drive change

We did the maths a while ago, it's a total waste of time, I wouldn't do it.

    TD Turbo Feedback

TSS Class rules. Great to see you out in time for the first round, Kev. You can enjoy all that extra power at Three Sisters now. Am guessing you won't be able to really give it some till Angers in June.

    Subaru Service Costs

At least £100 too high is my best guess.

    Smudge's supercharged V8 build

Fantastic news. Does this mean you still need the steering recall doing? Can't wait to see it on the road and importantly in time for Japfest!
  16. Lauren

    Subaru Service Costs

They cannot seriously charge you any labour for changing the plugs seeing as they have to come out to do the recall work. Just the cost of the plug is all you should be paying. Oil and filter is included in the recall too. They will also change your coolant and recharge your aircon. There is no cost for all of that. So if they are doing a full service the only labour should be for the diff oil and the cost of it. So to summarise you should only be paying for cost of plugs, cost of diff oil and labour to change diff oil.
  17. I've completed it, though I think it's a very lazy way of collecting data! Back in my day you had to pound the streets!

    Speedo reading 18s

I expect they're all the same.

    Speedo reading 18s

No! 😂 The speedo over reads anyway. Only way to work out your true speed is via GPS. I have a GPS speed read out from my TEIN EDFC, so have used that to get used to what speed I'm actually doing compared to the speedo reading.

Looks great, but I bet now you want to lower it. 😂

    Unsure What To Do?

It is, though nobody has had a recall letter yet!

    TPMS on every gt86?

    Exactly!
  24. My car has now had a proper test, having covered 500 miles or so since the recall ten days ago and also racing in the Toyota Sprint Series/Japanese Sprint Series yesterday at Cadwell, I won both classes convincingly with a 2.9 second lead and got 4th overall in the TSS and fastest NA overall. So it's doing just fine and feels great with the new clutch.
