You have blinded me with science Rob! If you could have a look at how my sub box and fibreglassing is done, perhaps that might help. I've got a JL W3 sub (I think), that fits pretty well and doesn't raise the boot floor at all really. Basically the remade boot floor in MDF sits on the original foam at the sides and obviously the sub box enclosure supports the main bit.I'm afraid I can't offer advice on the head unit really as mine has all the sat nav and phone, DAB and everything, but I guess it'll mean not wanting that stuff will make it a hell of a lot cheaper. This only really works if you have an iPod etc, but that can be a very good way of doing it whilst getting all the features as most head units will do this. You can get a big capacity USB, that's another option.

Hmm, have heard similar news stories about this BMW collaboration before, but have seen little more than talk about it over the past year. I admit I never liked the Supra well, only the older ones like the Celica-Supra were cool, but we'll see! It's interesting but the GT86 is a relative disaster saleswise in the UK as it's nowhere near meeting it's targets. I'm not sure if this will affect anything in terms of what happens with this new 'Supra' or not, but I'm not overly convinced it's going to help, considering this new car is going to be more money.

Best one I have is sans the door handle trim, but you get the idea:The quality of the sound is astonishing. Last weekend I had a fellow owner come over and have a listen to his classical music on it. It was very impressive even though it's not really optimised for that. Enough to persuade him of a way forward. The clarity of the sound is on another level to what I've ever had before. The rear view mirror vibrates in time with the music.

Not bad, well apart from the blue. Though I do think the orange clashes with the red somewhat.

Brilliant!

I managed to bag a set of stock rims at a good price and will put my winter tyres on those.

Okay this might work!

You could always do what I did and use the spare wheel recess and lose no boot space at all:150127_10151307395656467_1047062632_n.jpgSorry, just cannot get images to work.

Good work! I will post mine up once I can get the pics to work okay. 13.5" is a huge sub. Mine is a 12" JL 600W and it's total overkill, though I really love it. Mine is a full-ish depth one as there is enough depth really, though it does sit flush with the boot floor. I'm guessing you will be fiberglassing and making an enclosure, or is there something off the shelf?

Definitely.

I'd just go to Toyota and order it from there. I'm going to have to get some as I scraped the underside of the front spoiler on a kerb yesterday.

Excellent pics, looks like a great day out. Will put it in my diary for next year I think! -
I got given one by my dealer too. It really is an excellent book, known as the 'GT86 bible'. I think of it as uber coffee table fodder.

Ooh hello, good to see you here!

1004726_10151410132656467_1036833215_n.jpgIf this doesn't display then I did post this up on the homepage. But cutting to the chase, I'm very interested to see what they think about it. I know their initial impressions were that they were not over awed by their first drive, though the logic of giving them an auto initially was a bit dissapointing. So, given it's common knowledge for EVO to use their fast fleet cars in their tests a bit more I will be very intersted to see what they think over a longer term. I've just clicked over 10K miles in my car over 4.5 months, so I have reasonable view on what it's like to live with a GT86 day to day.I'm also a long time reader of EVO. I started with Fast Lane in 1984 and on and off I've always had that mag. I do think that for the most part they are on the money and I admit EVO have helped me discover a few cars over my driving history. A DC2 Integra Type-R being the highlight so far.So, I look forward to the monthly updates!

To be fair, firmer does not automatically mean better. It's not as simple as that! The impression I get is that the Subaru is not as tail happy, so it is not the same and that's why it's rated differently. -
Happy Birthday Alec, 50 today! Enjoy! xxx :32 (1):

Any thoughts on what you might go with, Rob?
