    TPMS on every gt86?

If you don't have TPMS count yourself lucky. If you don't have it, you don't need it for MOT. So buy your aftermarket wheels knowing you don't have to mess about with TPMS sensors. Result!

    Wheel nuts

Easily the best option. Mine still look fine (not that such things worry me) five years later.

    Got hit by a van

I'm guessing you mean a dash cam? I've had a dash cam for nearly four years now, still not fitted it! 😂

    Hello GT86 people

Welcome aboard! The deadline for Japfest Silverstone is looming on the 5th May. See the official events thread. It's one of the best events to meet people as we have a good turn out.

    green gunk???

The green gunk does hang around for a while. It's just a protective coating that is a magnet for dirt and dust mainly.
  7. There will be a lot of us attending Japfest, come over to the club stand.

What to look for when buying a used GT86/BRZ

My drivers side mirror doesn't fold electrically anymore. I've just left it as can do it by putting my hand out the window easily enough. I've done 126K miles and manual gearbox has performed faultlessly. 😛 In other news my heated seat buttons no longer illuminate but the seats heat up fine. Again I've left it, as I'm not bothered by such things.

What to look for when buying a used GT86/BRZ

It will disengage the cruise control, but if the cruise hasn't been activated, nothing will happen.

    Hey all.

Welcome, can't comment on the first two questions but for Japfest, see here:
  11. I wouldn't be massively worried. I had my Milltek overpipe fitted when the car had 10K miles on it. It became a problem in that it has cooked the ARB rubber D-mount after 126K miles. It's just noisy when there is heat in it but there is nothing otherwise an issue with it. It's not like it's going to fall off or cause any issues with the handling of the car. It just makes a noise that's all. I will change it for poly bushes next week and look to wrap the overpipe in due course. If you don't do many miles it's unlikely to be an issue as such.

    First Track Day Snetterton

The stock tyres are hilarious after about four laps, they go off, but are really consistent. Remember mine on stock tyres the first time I tracked it. Went pretty quick for a few laps then drifted everywhere. Great fun.
  13. Got my car back today. It feels super sharp and quick compared to the Blue Edition I've been driving all week. It's worth noting that you effectively get a free intermediate service as the oil and filter are changed as is the coolant (which saves me having it done at 140K). The aircon is recharged too. I had a new clutch fitted and looking at the old one, it was getting a bit low so perfect timing. Clutch feels lovely and light, nice. A huge thanks to Gary and Richard at RRG Macclesfield for doing a great job and a great service as they always do. This time next weekend I will be sprinting at Cadwell. Can't wait. Just need to new poly ARB mounts fitted next week once they come in to sort the creaky steering issue. One of the ARB mounts got cooked by the overpipe over 110k miles, so may put some wrap round it soon.

    First Track Day Snetterton

Seriously the car is up to it. I've done trackdays, racing and sprints for nearly 20 years. I ran mine pretty stock on track for the first year I had it. Primacy tyres, stock suspension, brakes etc, it was absolutely fine and brilliant fun. My car has developed over the six years I've had it, which is fine. For you I'd work on your driving technique and invest your money in that. Give it a year then decide if you want different tyres, suspension, brakes etc. But get to know how the car is stock and get used to learning all the driving techniques. It's a really good car out of the box and very capable.

    First Track Day Snetterton

Seriously the stock suspension is absolutely fine. My advice would be to keep it stock, learn how the car handles and also work on your technique. You can have tons of fun on the Primacy tyre and they last really well, even on track. Don't change a thing, get into your trackdays and when you've done four or five then think about tyres and all that. It is great fun stock. Stock brake fluid is fine, don't waste your money. Loads of people will do tons of mods before working out whether they actually need them or not. Take your time, learn the car then when you are ready work out what you need to change. Just enjoy yourself, you'll have great fun.
  16. Couldn't see any point. I use my car everyday, it's hardcore enough as it is. 😂 I have though quietened the exhaust a fair bit lately.
  17. Quite frankly you'd have to ask Gary for what he means by that definition. I keep my engine healthy by always servicing it on time, treating it sympathetically and I have only ever used V Power. I don't use any additives. He commented with the clutch wear that a good driver makes quite a difference to overall car condition.
  18. Well, the work will be under warranty for a year. So if the engine fails due to the work carried out then the dealer will have to foot the bill. If it's going to fail as a result of the work it's going to do it sooner rather than later. A Toyota dealer will not do the work on a BRZ, you will have to go to Subaru.
  19. Quick update. Engine is back in and running and all sorted. I have another issue that RRG are looking at first thing in the morning with a noisy steering issue that may be related to my poly bushes on the rack. This is why it's taken a bit longer, but RRG want to check the fluid levels in the morning. I will check when I pick up (likely Saturday morning) whether the oil and coolant is changed or not.

Tein Street Basis VS Street Basis Z

True to a point, but a 20K service interval is a lot sooner than you'd need to do it on the TEINS. I had my TEINS serviced after 50K miles and the damping performance was spot on. So the reality is you could leave it a lot longer, hence my fit and forget comment. If the OP is going for Flex Z they are non-servicable anyway, so he'd just replace the whole unit but they'd basically last as long as OEM really.
  21. I had a feeling that may be the case! 🤣I suspect my friend will find out tonight!
  22. All going well, more pics from Gary this afternoon. Engine is now back together completely and I expect tomorrow will be putting it back in. I appreciate it that RRG have taken their time with my car to get it right. @Rob230 I have a friend who's car is going into Jemca Reading tomorrow night. She said that they have told her it will be ready for Saturday. I have my doubts! But good luck.

Tein Street Basis VS Street Basis Z

I have a custom TEIN setup with my own spring rates and valving on my dampers as well as EDFC Active Pro. The thing is here, is that Ohlins and all that will be far better, but you need to factor in the cost of rebuilding them every 20K miles at £600 a go or so. You can pretty much fit and forget the TEINS. Ultimately I'm sure the Ohlins will outperform the TEINS as they are over twice the price. But ask yourself how good a driver you are, I reckon most who go for super expensive setups won't know how to get the best out of it which will be on track only. Also think how you are going to use it and whilst nice expensive damping should give a better ride, that will ultimately be the real benefit over anything else which is worth having if you can afford them along with their servicing costs. If it's just a weekend car, I suppose the mileage thing matters a lot less.
  24. More pics of the cams, valves etc. Thanks, Gary.

Tein Street Basis VS Street Basis Z

There aren't really any similar systems, especially so if you look at EDFC Active Pro. You need a minimum of Street Advance to run it. Save up I would say.
