Not that I've found, I drive my car every day pretty much and it's been through two winters and over 20K miles since the AP's went on. Seems fine to me. Pretty much fit and forget. Still got loads on the pads reckon they could be good for 40K! Another point is that you don't have to run race pads with a BBK. I use DS2500's which work well everywhere whether crawling round the M60 or going for it on track.

@nerdstrike. Front and rear discs are vented. I don't really understand why say four piston calipers would require more maintenance or be more affected through winter driving than the stock calipers? I don't see what protection they lack? I would say that BBKs are perhaps the best mod you can do if you track your car or like to hit Alpine passes hard. I don't get the 'bragging' rights bit?

Upgraded discs and pads will improve things slightly, but that'll all it will do. BBK/Reyland kit is the ultimate answer of course. I was fed up with my brakes fading away on track, went with the Reyland kit and not had that issue again. Endless brakes which is great and very confidence inspiring.

It's not an option, either buy the Blue Edition and spec the performance pack or you can't have it.
-
Yes, aim for getting the ARB level.

Great news, Kev! Glad you were able to get them to sort out putting better tyres on the car. Enjoy.
-
Hello Steve! Welcome aboard.

It's bling really and deletes the noise generator which most do not like. Mishimoto will claim a non-independently verified 3-4bhp that you'd never be able to notice, but it's hard to see how in all honesty.

Ask for Yokohama V105 extra load. Not quite as grippy as the PS4 but a really good fun tyre that is better than the Primacy by miles. I don't blame you for telling him that. Shows how cheap the TDF's were. V105s are £80 inc VAT per corner and likely less than the Primacy tyre or around the same. Your dealer is pretty much charging you full price for the Primacy tyre. Don't give in!

It will be miles out after fitting coilovers. This happens to everyone. All can be solved with an alignment. Toe front and rear is adjustable. Stock track rods don't seem to have the length it seems to maximise camber at the rear but you should still be able to get nigh on 2 degrees negative there. Aim for 2.5 degrees neg camber front and around 2 at the rear. Toe parallel for front and a small amount of toe in at the rear for stability.

No worries I just want you to enjoy the car and obviously not to end up in the first available ditch. I'm not old enough to have had much experience with crossplys, but my first rear wheel drive car was a 2.3 Firenza with 175 dodgy tyres. Spun it, first time I drove it in the wet! 😂
-
Kev that's fair enough, though I'm also concerned that the dealer has not been honest with you and not gone for 'top' tyres but budget ones. The car is particularly sensitive to tyres it seems. I expect you're well used to rear wheel drive so you have that experience which is good. I did some looking into those tyres last night, they won't have Yokohama on them. But all said and done be careful in the wet as that's where you'll really notice it. Enjoy tomorrow.

Sorry to put a downer on your excitement. Prestivo Tyres are 'part of the Yokohama family'... make of that what you will. They are not sold as Yokohama tyres. They are about £50 a tyre. I honestly wouldn't accept this. These are TDFs (Taiwanese Ditch Finders). They are putting shite tyres on your car. Top tyres my arse. Sorry, but they are taking the piss. If they are charging you for these I would not accept it. Yokohama V105's as a minimum in all honesty.

I'm doing a track day on the 11th May at Blyton Park. My mother in law is coming over and it's on her bucket list to be taken round the track by me. Revenge will be oh so sweet! 🤣 https://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackdays/May/Blyton_Park_11th_May_2019 I'm taking the Friday off and will be in the bar at the Premier Inn Scunthorpe. I hope to be in the bar by around 2pm. Rooms are £33 for the night which is a real bargain. Blyton is a good track, far better than you might think if you haven't been there with some really good technical sections and nothing to hit unless you manage to find the one piece of available armco to the right of the Wiggler! It's a great track for beginners and experienced drivers alike which is a rare combination I think. So, if you'd like to join me, get it booked! I'm sure you can see the difference, Kev! 🤣 The depth of the stripes, the length of the stripes and angles plus the GT86 moniker are all different.
-
It's really up to you. Why not just post an ad in the for sale section and see what happens? You'll get more selling privately, but it's down to you to sell it of course.
-
@BRZ-123 yes definitely. It's easy to do to be fair. Some dealers will also come up with their own designs as well as owners getting vinyl off ebay etcetera. This is what the dealer option stripes look like as seen on my car in 2013.
-
They were indeed an option as I specified side stripes when I bought mine. These are not the optional stripes though.
-
The sidestripes are not standard. He will still get the same issues with squealing brakes.
-
Well, that's good news. Always good to start out with new discs and pads. The next few days are going to be long ones!

Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013
Lauren replied to Lauren's topic in Mechanical
Will do. I'm very likely having a new clutch whilst the engine is out. If it's still got a good bit of life in it then I'll leave it a little longer, but at 125K it must be getting a little thin. 🤣 I'm also going to get Gary to check the timing chains. Will be interesting to see what they find given the mileage. -
Recall issued on cars to have valve springs replaced 2012-2013

Guess who's car will be the first to undergo the valve spring recall at RRG Macclesfield? 🤣 That'll be me then. I expect nobody will be surprised by that. Just awaiting a date, should be in the next couple of weeks. -
Welcome aboard. What mods do you have planned?

Moved to general chat. I don't know the car. Birmingham plate, though you've probably already realised that.
