Is the GT86 going to be safe for my girlfriend?

The GT86 has a very intrusive stability control and traction control system if you leave it on, so it won't slide very far without intervening, so there is that. It's not a difficult car to drive really, just like any other as far as your girlfriend is concerned. So I wouldn't overly worry about it, just because it's RWD. Some better tyres will help here over the stock Primacy tyre as other's have said. If she's only going to pootle around in it, there should be no issues. By all means if you can get her to do some skidpan training then it all helps of course. As long as she hasn't got a lead foot, I think she'll be fine. My fiancé hasn't driven my car for two years and he's a bit scared of it, but then again he is a very competent driver, so no worries there.

Alex the Sailor is aware, he hosts the server. He is on holiday in Tenerife at the moment so I've been getting him out of the pool to fix it a few times a day for the last few days. He's going to have a proper look when he gets home. He has had a GT86 since launch but isn't active in the club.
  6. You should be able to upload pictures unless your pictures are excessively large in file size. You could try reducing their size?
  7. Richard has already approached Toyota over this. Not sure of the details yet, I should let Richard answer that question, but Toyota are aware that there are a number of cars out there with turbos and superchargers and I know RRG are happy to do the work on these cars but they need agreement from Toyota of course in regard to what happens over the additional labour. By the sounds of it if you're not getting a turbo till say the summer the work should have been done by then, at least that's what I'm hearing.
  8. Nobody has. Was speaking to RRG last week they reckon it may not be till April by the time the work gets done.
  9. For those that came to this show last year, will know that it is a real treat. There is a fantastic mix of cars, trade stands, dealers and some amazing classics. What really struck me about this show, is that is has just such a good vibe. Everyone is really friendly and I recall spending the whole day chatting to owners about their cars which they thanked me for. This is a real highlight in the calendar particularly for the North West. It's a one day show and is only £5 an entry including a passenger. I've been chatting to Dave the organiser as usual and we will have a club stand there. Last year we had six cars and everyone there said they'd definitely be back this year, so lets make it a bigger stand this time please! It is at: The Westmorland County Show GroundLA7 7NH More information here: https://www.espcarclub.co.uk/cumbria-international-motor-show/ Register here: https://www.espcarclub.co.uk/register/ Just put down 'GT86 BRZ Drivers Club' in the message section. Iceland Meet

I'm pretty sure they didn't take their cars with them!
  11. That's better. You need to put some prices up though. If it's any help I sold an airbox and induction piping for £45 but mine had spent less than a week on my car so was absolutely mint. So I would say £30 maybe? Exhaust £50-80 I would say. That head unit, I don't think it will have any value especialy with no Western Europe maps on it. It looks worse than the stock UK head unit. It's not pretty is it?
  12. Can you please post prices and pictures with what parts are available. Am I right in thinking you are selling the stock head unit? Is it different in Australia is the frequency range the same etc? We are a UK club we don't know what a high spec head unit is in Australia. Also are you selling a stock exhaust? If it's any help, stock exhausts are pretty much worthless as there are so many around. I have one as an example sat in my shed for six years that was taken off before PD with zero miles on it. I'm going to wait a few more years before I try and sell that! As for the head unit, if it's like the UK one it's not a good head unit, but with sat nav would be desirable to some. However I expect it won't have European maps on it which would mean a significant additional cost to put them on.

    Greetings fellow GT86'ers!

Welcome. As other's have said where was it imported from? Would be interested to know the differences between your's and a UK spec car.

Just got a great deal here, getting Mark back on the policy and took up their fully comp cover to drive other cars too.

    Alloy wheel help

You can, but a 225 is a bit wide for a 7" wheel, so the sidewall issue will be worse it will take away feel. As for bumps, maybe.

    Alloy wheel help

I would say yes. Better to run 215/45/17's on a 17x8. I've tried both and I didn't like the extra sidewall flex, whereas running a 215 it took all the flex out of it and was much sharper. I've now ran this setup for the last four years or so. For me, it's a great setup. 18x8 will mean heavier wheels which has no good side to it, it depends how sensitive/fussy you are. With a 225/40/18 it's better on sidewall flex than a 225/45/17 of course.
  17. I think how you feel about the look of a new car changes as you get used to it. No point passing any judgement till it's been seen in the flesh a number of times and most importantly of all, driven.
  18. I really like it. It's a lot of money though and I've quite enjoyed owning my GT86 outright for a couple of years now with no debt. Also the lack of rear seats mean nowhere for an Indy to go which is a bit of a shame. Will have to wait and see what it's like to drive I guess.

    Problem With Heat Wrap

Surely you can get the part you need from Toyota or Subaru?

    Hello There

In all honesty you would only really benefit from the Brembos if you were hitting Alpine passes hard or going on track regularly. I think the uprated dampers do bring some improvement, but you'd have to push it again, to get the benefit from it.
  23. Lauren

    Hello all

Welcome aboard. Plenty of options. What did you have in mind?
  24. Lauren

    Hello There

It's not hugely difficult to fit the brake calipers and discs, considering that all that is needed will come in a kit. Same with dampers, not hard to do. But whether you could get it at the bargain price is another matter. You'd obviously have to pay for labour, but any competent garage can do this. If RRG Macclesfield were able to fit my AP four pots up front and my TEIN suspension, including all the wiring for EDFC Active Pro, SPL lower arms and a full polybush kit you'd think it was possible really! I reviewed the Blue Edition with Performance Pack a few months ago:
  25. Reckoning on £46K though nearer to 50 when the option boxes are ticked.
