Looking at Ben's graph, it gives more torque (though no more than my torque peak) around 3500 instead of nearer to 4000rpm as mine does. Though it's 9bhp down on the peak in comparison at the top end. It does though give a flatter torque curve than mine from 3500 to 4500rpm.
-
You gain some torque and lose some top end. It depends what you want of course. It won't make bigger peak numbers as we've seen.

You turn the key anti-clockwise. Moral of the story is that if you don't use your car a lot, then it's worth checking periodically that you can open it with the key in case of this happening. Overnight with WD40 etc should do the trick though.

You'd think with a thermostat you wouldn't need a blanking plate?
-
The difference in sound will be due to the change in throttle response going to the low RON map. Mine does this, but the car just feels broken in the 95 RON map mode, so I never use it.

Can't see your pics, Church.

in car entertainment upgrade for 14plate BRZ

There's another thread about a £300 Sony HU, looks good value and to be fair the stock head unit (even in the GT86) is utter crap really. I would definitely go aftermarket. I junked mine a month after my car was new. Have a look in the ICE section, there's a few threads there. -
Camshaft Position Sensor P0390 & P0931 - Check Engine Light
Lauren replied to Kaltorak's topic in Mechanical
The problem you have is that you could be waiting 2-3 months before the valve springs are changed. So I don't see that as an option. The ECU update just increased the variance before it threw an EML. Sorry not much help. -
YMMV of course, some use a bit more. Mine doesn't seem to use any really even at 122K miles.
-
Kind of, I always say it's a race to the national speed limit signs.
-
Welcome aboard. Any plans for the car?
-
I've no idea in all honesty. I don't know anyone who has tried it.
-
MY2107 does have hill start.
-
@Church maybe, but given the lack of effort elsewhere I reckon lowering springs at most, it might not even have those. I'll bet the engine is totally stock. It's easy to tell if Ecutek has been applied as you will have different selectable maps. This looks like a stock Aero with a few cheap cosmetic additions.
-
Looks pretty stock with just a few cosmetics. It might be lowered, but that's about it. It's obviously a manual. It will have heated seats as it has Alcantara/leather seats.
-
It has the national speed limit like everywhere else but is always quiet.

They do in fact have the indicator on the correct side for RHD which is on the right. Which is where it should be. We have this stupid anonmaly in the UK with the indicator on the left. I blame VW for this as they have done it since the last 70's. Now every UK car has the indicators on the left which makes no sense at all.

Review- GT86 Club Series Blue Edition with Performance Pack
Lauren replied to Lauren's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
@Luke it is nice to drive every variation of GT86. The key here is I've got a lot to compare to, including 122K miles in my own car, so it helps with trying to tease out the differences. Toyota are just offering the PP on this model to gauge interest, so I would say that if more new models sold are the Blue Edition with PP then they may well consider it. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have raised the level of interest we would hope for. I bought all my own modifications including replacing the entire sound system, but I did want something a bit special. It's all down to personal taste of course and that's where the fun is. I dare say if I was looking to buy a new GT now though, I'd definitely go for the Blue Edition with PP, but alas it wasn't available in 2013. The cost of buying and installing my mods over the last five years comes to about £15K. I try not to think about it!- 12 replies

Has it not stopped raining yet?

I'd say get the car serviced as oil change etcetera is more critical than spark plugs. Then get the spark plugs done in a couple of months when the recall happens.

Review- GT86 Club Series Blue Edition with Performance Pack
Lauren replied to Lauren's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
You're welcome. I have driven every iteration that RRG have had had as demonstrators. The difference is subtle between the revalved Sachs dampers and the stock MY2017 car. I say it's subtle because the difference between that and say my car is far more marked. My damping is undoubtedly stiffer, but it's also active so it stiffens as the speed and lateral G increases. This has the effect of really stiffening the damping at speed which is what you want to keep the wheels in contact with the road. For that reason I can drive my car much harder on the same roads. However the downside is that mine isn't as comfortable when cruising as a stock car and it is a fair bit noisier too in regard to road noise and NVH. Discount is discretionary of course, so it YMMV on that one! The good thing IMO is that the brakes do fit under 17" wheels. Okay they may not fit under stock wheels, but let's face it nobody likes them anyway. It's worth remembering that 18's gain you nothing in terms of performance, apart from being able to run a wider tyre at a lower profile, but there is little to gain in terms of grip between a 225 compared to a 215 and I would always take the latter as it works better with the balance of the car.- 12 replies

Welcome aboard. Remember with the 6 year service plugs are changed at 60K miles not 6 years, so if your mileage is low there is no point changing them. Also there is recall where your engine will need to be taken out to replace the valve springs, they can do the spark plug change then, saving you a load of labour costs, so it makes sense to wait until then to change your plugs. The recall work will be happening in January/February.

Still waiting for the pics! -
The drop links pretty much always round off when you try to take them off. They are fit once items unfortunately.

It's probably a sintered bit of pad that is slightly raised. I've had this before. Can sand down the pad a bit which will get rid of it, though I found with mine it returned. I just ignored it in the end until the pads were worn then swopped for a new set of pads which seemed to sort the issue. Mine tended to do it most noticably around 20mph or so.
