  1. @Lloyd There were a high number of failures in the US. TGB along with help from RRG Macc heavily revised the recall procedures to prevent what happened in the US happening here. Up you but if you purposefully leave it and it does fail then you will not be covered. Mine was done 27,000 miles ago. No problems.

GT86 Performance Pack Brembo Brake Pad

Why bother changing them then? It doesn't seem like it's any real issue.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Car has landed in Portbury. Have spoken to finance, should be okay for click and collect on the 18th or thereabouts. Exciting stuff, though made a bit weird by the lockdown bobbins!

    GT86 Severe Knocking Sound

Not that early. Mine was the first and was done in March 2019.

Best mod ever if you track your car. 👍

    Milltek or Cobra exhaust

Don't touch a Milltek, they crack. Sounds lovely but after cracking four of them I had enough. The Cobra booms on lift off, it's horrible. I don't like how it sounds. Some seem to like it though. I would look for something else. If you are running both cats then a non-res will be fine. TD non-res is probably more what you are looking for.

ETA 18th November gulp! It's all very exciting, it's starting to feel real. 👍

    Stock rear speakers

They are rubbish. Better not to use them. You don't need rear speakers in such a small cabin. I had all my ICE replaced just after I bought my car. Rear speakers were disconnected. Best thing for them.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

It's now left the factory. No messing!

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Circuit Pack of course. It's nothing to do with Xmas really, hoping for end of November for delivery. Whilst I was at the Subaru factory in Maebashi, they had Richard Burn's Prodrive WRX WRC car there. I pointed out that it was built in England, which they found funny.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

This is because they discounted the first 1000 by 10K AUS dollars! I wish they'd done that here!

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Yep, a prefecture is basically a region really. I have been to the GT86/BRZ Subaru factory in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture for a tour back in 2014. My GR Yaris is a Toyota only affair which is a very good thing in my mind, built in Motomachi Factory, Toyota City. What is interesting is that there is a lot of hand assembly with the GR Yaris apparently taking 10 days to complete compared with around 15 hours start to finish including testing etcetera for a regular car. Some engine parts being hand finished as well as the Takumi (Japanese for master) technician who puts their name to it. The forged carbon roof is hand fitted and the 200 extra weld points are done by hand for extra chassis stiffening. This vid is an interesting watch showing much CEO 'Morizo' has been involved with the car:

GR Yaris who's going for it?

I received a notification on Friday night telling me my car is being built! I'm just a little bit excited. In other news, got an email from RRG telling me they will have a demo car in for the beginning of November, so I will be first behind the wheel. I really hope it's as good as it looks!

    Coolant leak

If you're dropping your car off for them to look at it, I would expect to get a courtesy car. Worth an ask.

    225/45/17 tyres?

It's stock size, 215/45/17. There isn't much stretch, very minimal. It's within spec for tyre width/wheel width. It doesn't do the ride any harm, nor does it increase NVH. The big problem with fitting a 225, is the increase in sidewall height which exemplifies the issue of sidewall flex as the sidewall is bigger. I tried it for sprinting, having a 225/45/17 on my 8" wheels. Didn't like it at all.

    225/45/17 tyres?

A 215 on a 7" wide wheel is absolutely fine, I run a 215 on an 8" wheel, it is still within spec. I think it shows a lack of knowledge in understanding from the tyre fitter to make comments such as that. There would have been no stretch at at all on a 215 with a 7" wide wheel, so i don't get the fitters comments. I guess it's a matter of personal preference, but IME fitting the narrowest tyre within spec with the widest wheel gives the best response. You have increased your profile a little which explains why it fills the arches a bit more. Interestingly I tried a 225 on my 8" wheels and found too much sidewall flex, which would be worse on a 7" wide wheel. I find the PS4's a bit grippy, but have to run them for sprinting to be competitive. If you want a tyre that is good but a bit less grip in the future try the Advan Sport V105. Personally I would have stuck with a 215 even though they are more expensive than a 225, for a better steering response and feel.

    A few TRD questions

The TRD is a stock car from the factory that has the TRD parts added at the port of entry (Portbury Docks), so they are standard ride height and effectively no different in terms of a standard car. There were supposed to be a run of 250 cars for the UK, but the very high purchase price of £32K at the time meant they did not sell well. We think there were around 166 or so sold in the UK. As to how many of each colour, I do not know the answer to that, though they were sold in black, red and white. White was most popular, then black, then red.

    Brake Pedal Effort??

The GT86 has less servo assistance which is definitely a good thing and hallelujah that Toyota didn't overly servo the brakes as you find on far too many cars these days. It's your Kia that has over assisted brakes that is more the problem. Having a bit less servo, means better feel. Don't worry about it, just get used to it and appreciate it. 👍

    225/45/17 tyres?

That's just covering all the variables that are current. I had a GT86 hire car in Japan with the 16's and smaller brakes. 17x7 is for stock and 17 x7.5 is PP.

    225/45/17 tyres?

As I thought. It's only the Blue Edition with Performance Pack that has 7.5" wide wheels.

    225/45/17 tyres?

Better to look at the actual wheel it will be stamped on it.
