I'd say choose the head unit over worrying about the fascia adaptors. I admit mine is the early rubbery one and it doesn't look that good, but I love the sound of my Alpine head unit far more.

There was a revision I think it was in 2015 in regard to the coil packs. They aren't hugely fragile and they just thrown an EML, but changing them is the only way of stopping it keep coming on if you remove the error code. It seems to happen when you drive it very hard. I've had three in 111K miles go. It's more of an annoyance than anything else as they don't actually fail as such. So it's not like you'll be running on three cylinders, you just get the EML on. The damping was changed to Sachs dampers in 2015, but you'd never notice the difference between that and earlier cars. The 2017 has revised damping, lower spring rates and bigger ARB's. All to give a better ride more than anything else. Don't worry they are reliable! And welcome aboard.

Are you sure that sound isn't coming from the engine?

The chassis of the GT has great balance no question about that. It's far easier to handle than a mid-engined car and it doesn't bite like a mid-engined car can. I cut my teeth on supercharged MK1 MR2's a very long time ago when I took up track days, not the easiest car to handle. Changing to better tyres from the Primacy and also suspension upgrades really lift it to another level as well. There are lots of well tried and tested setups in this respect.

I'd push to get the lot if I was you. The EDFC is excellent and Rob is running the 'Lauren spring rates' of 5/6kg. It's an absolute bargain at this price. Mine was £2500 fitted!

Ooh very nice. Great that they are finally doing editions with uprated brakes. Colour is cool too.

Stock discs are fine. I don't think there is much to be gained by aftermarket discs in stock sizes. As for pads, Stoptechs work well enough. I've had Project Mu 800's they have good feel but are noisy on the road. Many run PFC fronts (cheap) and EBC yellow rears. Aftermarket pads are all you need really for occasional fast road driving. You'll only really overheat them if you are descending Alpine passes, so not really an issue in the UK. I run Ferodo DS2500's pad wise all round though obviously I have the AP 4 pots up front. They are nice and quiet and work well. That's another option as you can get ones for stock calipers up front too.

The TD setup I have sounds good I think. Your choice of course. Might as well just stick with aftermarket pads. No real point changing the front calipers if you're not going on track or going FI.

3) Tuning developments resonated system. 4) Go a bit extra and get the AP Racing 4 pot setup from Reyland.

TRD engine start/stop button? Though this seems to be only something people buy if they go to Japan! But as other's have said your car looks good as it is. Less is more and all that.

Hmm, not much of a response. I'm not going to make this as I'm away in Leeds and realistically am not going to get back in time. Maybe next month.

Well, the BBK thing certainly really sorts it out once and for all. I think you can make improvements to the stock setup with better pads and discs or maybe running much harder pads for the track, but then it may be too much for the road with stuff like Carbotechs. They'll squeal like a bastard. If you do shorter sessions and go a bit easier on the brakes that will help but ultimately a decent BBK is the solution really I think.

Have noticed over the last two days that my car seems to be getting louder. Had a good listen on the way to work this morning and I can tell it's coming from behind me and I'm certain it's the diff. The AE86 had a two way diff in it and it used to whine all the time, though that was just how it was it seemed. But my car has been silent for the first 110K miles, so this is new. I've had a cursory three second glance under the car with a torch when I got home from work and the diff casing looked dry. Obviously I was looking for any oil leaks as low oil would cause it. It could of course just be wear and tear as it's done 110K miles and I did 160 miles round Oulton last Saturday. The car was only serviced last Wednesday and from what I can recall it seemed alright then. I have thought though that there was some slack in the drivetrain which I attributed to be the diff when coming on and off the throttle. Of course I might be wrong about this. I expect I will have to get it checked out. Could be just a bit worn out, could be the diff carrier (had one of these go before and it was expensive to replace). I expect there aren't many, but I wonder if anyone else has had this problem? I know Kev lunched his diff when it was leaking oil after having his final drive changed, but that's the only other failure I know of with an obvious cause.

Glad you got it sorted, Nigel, also good to get it under warranty as I wondered if a wheel bearing would be covered at your mileage. Alas for me I'm beyond the warranty now with my mileage so it came in at £290 fitted. It's surprising how a worn wheel bearing affects how the exhaust sounded, it really ruined it on mine, now it's back to it's tuneful self without having to compete with the wheel bearing drone!

Experience of Tuning Developments' NA package
Lauren replied to spikyone's topic in Tuning Developments
I got 94Db with mine measured at Oulton and I have a TD EL manifold, no cats and a resontated TD exhaust. Some places purposefully get higher readings in my experience. Croft is a good example of this. You wouldn't have needed a tyre fitter to get the stones out. Just let down your tyre with it jacked up and dig out the stones then reinflate. Done it at Paddock Hill Bend myself many, many years ago! -
I would say it's just a characteristic, it improves for me when it's thoroughly warmed up though.

Oh yes, forgot to add, had the geo done again in January. This was because it was set with 15 seconds of toe out on the rear. Whilst it made the car a lot of fun, I think it was losing me time on the sprints and I must admit, it was a tad lairy at times on the roads. So, opted for a little bit of toe in on the rear. Well, I finally got to do a track day after my December date was snowed off, without any actual snow. So I rebooked for the 27th January. It seemed a long way off at that point. The good news was that I could get my rear discs and pads refreshed as I knew that there wasn't a lot left of the Project Mu's on the rear. The discs looked pretty bad too. From the feedback I got the pads were in a bad way. Naturally all this coincided with my 110K service just to make it a bit more expensive. I went for OEM disc and matching Ferodo DS2500 pads for the rear. I got them for £125 online. Still good to get it done and I was now absolutely ready for a day at Oulton Park. I was only joined by one other GT86, which was Neal's and he was having a whole day of tuition, so it almost felt lonely there for a time. The day started off wet, got a lot wetter then dried but unfortunately for me, it never completely dried so I couldn't give the brakes a real full test that I wanted to. Obligatory pic after a bit of lapping in the paddock at Oulton: Oulton Park Jan 2018 by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr And what the wheels look like after a 160 mile work out round Oulton! Oulton Park Jan 2018 by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr It was a really good day and was just so quiet out on track, particularly in the afternoon. I took advantage of this and what I noticed about the brakes in comparison to how they were before on stock calipers is that the brakes were strong and simply consistent. It didn't matter how many laps I did they worked the same on lap five as they did on lap one. And it was just brilliant to have the confidence, well reassurance to brake as hard as you liked, lap after lap and there was just no change. Neal was out on stock brakes apart from PFC pads and his were smoking. He had to come in to let the brakes cool as he was getting fade. This was an issue I knew well till I fitted the AP four pots. I've come to the conclusion that going for a decent front caliper/disc setup is the only real way to cure this issue. I think this was why I ended up doing 160 miles on track. Think it's about the most I've ever done, but the car took it well and I had a great time. A fair few friends to turned up to come for hot laps and well, I did a few! I did notice though that the car was whining at the rear a bit, well I thought it was the diff, which was worrying, but a trip down to RRG and after taking Gary out for a spin, he was not happy that I slid the car on a roundabout, accidentally on purpose of course! But he and Richard correctly diagnosed a rear wheel bearing. So the car was back a couple of weeks later and my bank account was relieved of £450 as I needed a new rear set of tyres as well. After having to shell out insurance for the year as well, it's been a rather expensive four weeks costing me around £1750 what with insurance, service, wheel bearing, discs and pads and a pair of tyres. On both occasions my car was in, Richard lent me his GT86 CS demonstrator. It's nice not to have to drive a Yaris courtesy car as it makes getting back into my own car rather less of a shock. The demonstrator has only 5K mile on the clock and it is quieter and more refined than my car, a nice place to be really. It doesn't feel as sharp and the engine whilst eager enough obviously feels like it doesn't have quite the power and definitely not the torque of my car. Whenever I borrow it, I just drive it ten miles home then back to RRG after they've got my car ready and I always forget how loud that cold start is. So glad I've got mine mapped out now. You won't have any problems with either on track days. If I'm hitting 94Db on a static noise test (last one at Oulton about three weeks ago) running a TD EL manifold, no cats and a resonated TD system, whatever you pick will be a fair bit quieter than that.

Yoko Advan V105s extra load. Must be on my fourth or fifth set now! Available in 17" stock sizes. Just checked on Michelin's site. PS4's are avaiable in stock sizes.

There's no real reason why you can't in all honesty. I do like to have matching pads all round, but obviously you can't do that with PFC's.
-
Yeah, sorry should have said nearer £300 for the full service. I'd shop around if I was you.
-
You are being ripped off. Pity you're not nearer RRG Macclesfield. No more than £99 for the refrigerant, so they are over charging. Would say £150 for intermediate and around £240 for the full service.
