    Oil and coolant temps

I've done 110k miles and five years of track days and sprinting. I have seen oil temps upto 129C. It does weirdly seem to stabilise a bit at those temps. Mind you sprinting is irrelevant as you won't get the temps hot enough over one lap. On track days I only run for 10 minutes or so at at time. Anymore and my concentration is going anyway, but doing shorter stints means the oil temps don't get that high. I've yet to fit an oil cooler. I think it's a good idea, but really you will only need it if you are doing long sessions on track.

Rims for days - sizes, offsets and widths

They are a lot lighter and a whole lot stronger. Well, I'm sure the JR wheels will do the job. Plenty of people use them. The lightness of a genuine forged wheel has performance advantages of course and it is the real deal. So it depends if authenticity is important to you, or price is the factor. I got mine secondhand and got them refurbed for not much more than the cost of your wheels new. Choices etc.

TE37s around £2-2.5K. They really are forged. I've looked up stuff on Japan Racing wheels but can't find any description of them actually being forged, so who knows? Some info here: http://s3mag.com/blog/real-vs-fake-wheel-guide/ Rays themselves: https://www.rayswheels.co.jp/concept/technology.php?tech=2&lang=en Analysis of Rays: Once a wheel is produced – RAYS tests their wheels to higher specific standards than what is required. This is all verified with the government as well. What a lot of people don’t know is that supplying to OEM requires the highest standards in the world. It’s at least double of what is required by standards put out by governments like JWL, or TUV. This means the amount of time and testing required drives up costs, but ensures a solid product. There are not many manufacturers that are able to satisfy these conditions and RAYS is one of them. If a fake wheel maker claims to make OEM wheels, or has the testing to back it up… get a copy of a verified report. From there, RAYS utilizes the most advanced method of manufacturing wheels – Mold Forging – to produce wheels. The tooling to set up a new design is expensive, but it makes sure that they are forging and improving the original qualities of the raw material into a structure. In fact, RAYS uses their own specially-developed aluminum, which has a higher tensile strength than typical 6061 aluminum. By adding all of this together, you can see that there are significant costs that go into producing a wheel. It’s something that requires a lot of investment and know-how to contribute positive parts to the market. That’s why these wheels cost more – but you get what you pay for Seems like everyone has replied whilst I've been trying to find some decent information on Japan Racing wheels but all to no avail!

They are Rays TE37 copies. You will want to lower it as soon as you put the wheels on. Always the way. Are they really forged?

Idle Rpm rise after Ecutek Remap

Yes, as per FB. Totally normal. My idle is higher with the cold start option removed, but then of course it settles down to a normal idle as it did before once it warms up a bit.
  12. I guess it's okay if you can use 'My Toyota' and simply look up what was done on your car. I have the book all stamped. My Toyota hasn't worked for ages for me. It just doesn't load.
  13. Surely your dealer should be able to give you one as they issue them when you buy the car.

Just about to become a proud owner

It all depends how much you want to spend really. Changing the stock front speakers for direct Focal replacements really help. Really you need a sub and of course and amp to drive it to get the best out of it. I went for an Alpine head unit with DAB, Hertz amp, Focal 3 front speakers with tweeters in the door a 12" JL sub and an Audison Bit10 DSP which is the icing on the cake really. That little lot was £3K installed. Obviously it's in a different league compared to the JBL. But the focal speakers a decent head unit with DAB/Satnav a sub an amp will make a huge difference.

Welcome aboard, not too long too wait! I got mine five years ago a the end of the month, two weeks did feel like forever though. You can do far better than the JBL setup with aftermarket components in all honesty, that would be a better bet. I tried the JBL before I ordered mine, but was underwhelmed by it. It's way better than standard but that isn't difficult. I ended up taking all the stock audio out when it was a month old and had an audio place do a custom install for me. The car is quite noisy so a good sound system really helps on longer journeys.
  17. Absolutely. I'd only use if I absolutely had to and given I only use one map out of 4, there's certainly room for the 95 one. No point not having it.

On static I've had 86-90Db with a TD manifold, no cats and resonated system.

    TD catback exhausts

You can certainly get different tips for extra cost.
  20. Yeah, I've heard that. Think I'd take a jerry can.
  21. You'd think this would be the case, but with 110K miles and having driven over a lot of Northern Europe, I've never had to put anything less than super unleaded in it.

    TD catback exhausts

If it's any help, I've got a full resonated TD system, cat delete and EL manifold. It's fine in terms of loudness. No issues getting out on track which is the real test of course. I've never done a video though. I think it sounds pretty well and having the cold start mapped out has made it quieter in the mornings than it was with the old OEM manifold and non-res Milltek. I have to say it sounds mega on the track.
  23. Even on a manual, the flat foot shifting, launch control and throttle blip are gimmicks. Well probably the throttle auto blip is useful for those that can't drive but obviously not relevant to an auto. Ditto poor fuel map, it just never happens. I have one of my maps with a softer throttle map which is useful if someone else has to drive the car, but I've never used any of the gimmick stuff, ever. I just use full power map all the time.
  24. I wasn't aware that duraluminum was stronger than steel.
