Unhappy with steering after changing tyres.

I would say go out at some point and work those tyres. They always work better when they've seen some heat. You'll gain some confidence in them too, hopefully!
  2. Centrifugal kits are cheaper generally. A bit less engineering compared to twin screw, positive displacement units and also a less complicated and more efficient front mounted intercooler, rather than the water/air intercooler of the Cosworth, Harrop and Sprintex units. As Matt has said, realistically only the Sprintex will come within your budget. It was one of the first SC kits out, but I don't like it as all it's power is low down and mid-range, it lacks top end punch I found. What tracks do you actually use? I must admit, I can't think of any that are just second and third gear only. Are you sprinting?
  3. I stand corrected on the Cossie/Harrop stuff as it is positive displacement. I don't get why you want low down torque if you are on track though? You'll be driving in the higher reaches of the rev rang all the time on track and using peak power more.

    Manchester, Stockport meet

Thank you for organising, Neal and Claire. A small turnout today with just the four of us, but Eggs Benedict was had. Good to see you two. See you at Oulton next month.

I asked Richard and Paula, doesn't look like they can make it. Tom and Kay may make it but are tight for time.

    86 Xmas presents

TRD engine start button? Likely around £120 here. I got the TRD Aero Fins as an Xmas present. £270.
  8. Mike, despite me having no cats, I've had no issues with track day noise limits. Always seems to be well within.
  9. I'm not sure if it's useful to add, but there aren't really any Roots type superchargers for the GT. They are all Twin Screw (which is not the same), if you mean Sprintex, Harrop, Cosworth then it might be worth changing your thread title.

    Passenger window fault

Vaseline is not ideal. Silicone spray is better and a lot less messy. But you will encounter an occasion when your window sticks whatever you do really. It's just inevitable.

    Passenger window fault

It's all in the manual, but you have to actually read it. That helps I find. Edit: Though now I've looked at the manual, it does describe how to sort it, but not particularly well!

    Passenger window fault

I had this happen to me this morning. The window lights were flashing and I couldn't move the passenger window by the switch on the driver's side. I drove to work with it flashing, but of course when I got to lock my car my driver's side window won't go fully home when I get out the car and shut the door. I operated hte passenger window from the passenger side switch and moved the window up and down fine. But I could only reset the windows when I could operate the passenger window from the driver's side switch. After about five minutes sitting in the car park, I was able to get it to move. Hold down both buttons and keep them down for around ten seconds (you could probably do it less, but why rush?) and then pull them fully up and hold. This will stop the flashing. It's a bit of a pain as this happens pretty much everytime there is a heavy frost. Yesterday I had the same but I was able to reset just the driver's window which seemed to sort it.
  13. Yes, I concur, hopelessly poor effort. You can normally get it over that amount of snow with a bit of clutch kicking if necessary! At least it's what I've done when I've been stuck. Try harder next time.

I can do Sunday. I'd go for option 2 as I don't like the injuries I sustain from karting.

    Brake upgrades - discs/pads?

Yes fair point. I was wondering whether you went for the Stoptech rears as they'd probably be similar too. Maybe I should just email Lucas and say 'I'll have what Will had'!

I'm just going to copy you from now on @will300. What rear pads did you get, just so I can get it right?

    Stubaru BRZ

Well, I hope they can manage it with a smart repair, maybe the blue is a bit easier to match and blend in than the white pearlescent? It seems anytime I need one bit resprayed it involves the whole side of the car! RRG Bodyshop said if I had walked in to get my door repaired it would have cost £1750! Fortunately they were already respraying that side, hence the drop to £500.

    Stubaru BRZ

That is gutting. I had similar happen to me just over a month ago. My car was going into the bodyshop to get that side resprayed anyway, but when they tried the PDR it wasn't quite perfect so they had to skim it. Whilst the door was being painted for free, it cost me £500 to get that dent repaired, though they did all the other minor car park dings as well. I hope you get your's out with PDR.

    Shropshire, Snow, and stuck BMWs

On the island that is the UK it is, which is due to the Gulf Stream of course which gives the UK a very unusual temperate climate. So it's warmer than it should be given how far it is north and on the western side of the UK it has a very mild climate, so snow hardly ever happens. Yes, I know we are missing out on a lot! We live in a weird place when it comes to weather! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24305230

Okay, cool, though weirdly they don't even list Stoptech!

    Brake upgrades - discs/pads?

Sounds like a cheaper option, but blimey, hard to find! Found them, I think on Tarmac, though I'm almost unable to buy them because they call them rotors rather than discs! https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/stoptech-toyota-gt86-subaru-brz-13-16-subaru-forester-09-13-impreza-wrx-08-14-legacy-10-14-rear-premium-brake-rotor.html

    Brake upgrades - discs/pads?

Okay time to get the rear discs sorted. Not sure whether to just go for stock rear discs and say EBC yellows, or to go for something else? I've looked up the DBA rear discs, £300, seems a lot of money! Notice Fensport recommend them with the Hawk pads. I used these pads on my DC2 which had a BBK and they were very good. https://www.fensport.co.uk/products/gt86-dba-rear-t3-slotted-discs They certainly look tasty, but is it worth it on the rears? I guess they would look good with my AP four pots up front. Or there is an EBC option for less than half the price at £140 or so. I guess the Ultimax discs are the obvious option?

    Shropshire, Snow, and stuck BMWs

LOL. I remember the one time in the three winters I had winter tyres on my GT when it actually snowed. I was able to drive down a snow covered lane at 60mph on a dual carriageway and just drove past everyone else. Brilliant! Though I could have just used the cleared lane of course. When it wasn't snowing though? No good at all! I did enjoy those five minutes though.

    Shropshire, Snow, and stuck BMWs

I'm trying to avoid the snow unless I have to drive in it. But in previous years turning everything off is basically essential in the snow if you want to get anywhere.
