MotorDrive Carbon Fibre Bucket Seat GT86 Brz Rails
Lauren replied to micmason123's topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Parts
Is it worth adding that you will need harnesses to use this seat? Just thinking that the seat belt is not going to work unless you can thread it through the lap belt holes? -
Yep, I would say so, 'It has a targa top, reminiscent of the Supra, and is powered by a hybrid system that’s taken cues from Toyota’s Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid WEC car.' The gearbox is not what they are talking about.
-
I'm not worried about the styling given it's a concept, but more interested in the hybrid system, I would really love to see a performance hybrid, it could well be my next car. Full electric for these kind of cars is not there yet, but I cannot wait for that, either.
-
I really like it, I cannot wait to see how it turns out. Lets hope it does. I'm not a fan of the targa top though. Can't see the point of losing chassis rigidity, having a bad hair day and suffering the inevitable buffeting.
-
That's cool, but T1's are utter shite. Seriously try a better tyre. Best way to ruin the car, I would say. Ask Tomas.
-
Others will know the size, it's bigger than a stock double din. I just have a double din unit as I wanted Alpine, I've got a surround that sticks on to fill the gap. That's another option. It's all about how much you want to spend really. Worth considering one with DAB too. Surely nobody listens to FM anymore?

You need the GPS unit which you won't have. So downloading won't work, I'm afraid. Better option is to change the whole head unit for something decent, plenty of options out there.
-
I've got a set, done 25K miles, been off the car since 2014. Make me an offer.
-
Here you go: Happy to show you what a well setup car can do with an experienced driver.
-
Very nice. Next stop on track then? Come to Oulton on Friday 3rd November, it's a better track anyway.
-
Welceome to the Drivers club! Enjoy.

You will gain if your car is stock as it will lean out the air/fuel ratio a bit. I've got the original Injen on mine as I specced it when I ordered the car. But 15bhp, only in America of course. We reckoned mine may have gained around 10bhp though it had a second cat delete as well.

Took you a while to get home!

Getting the quotes in. Recommendations welcomed.

When you think about it, it's much like calling your insurance company to tell them you've changed brands of tyres. -
It can only be down to driving style, how you put your foot on the brake pedal and perhaps what kind of shoes you drive in. I only ever drive in three pairs of shoes. Racing boots, driving shoes (most of the time), really thin soled boots I wear for work and the rest of the time I drive barefoot. Perhaps wearing really heavy boots or something means more wear?

Do people really tell their insurer when they fit different brake pads? I really had no idea. -
Interesting steering wheel. Which one is it and is it 350mm?
-
You will get this which is not a bad thing. My car is pretty distinctive being white with red TE37's, so it gets quite a lot of attention. Wait till you modify it! I was used to it with my old AE86 which got a lot more attention than the GT. So you do get used to it.
-
Yeah, I would do this. Or no cats at all. A decent manifold would be a good option too. Only problem is that the SC will make the exhaust a fair bit louder so you may have to look at a resonated exhaust if you haven't already got one.
-
Looked at mine when I was in the car this morning and it's not worn like others have at all. I've done 104K miles too. I think the rubbers are worn down more on the lower right side, but no damage to the metal of the pedal.
-
Just screw the OEM one in the front for a track day. It does the job just fine as Rich says.
-
That is very odd with your brake pedal, it looks like you are only using a small portion of it when you brake as the rest of it looks relatively untouched.
-
You'll want adjustable drop links to shorten them a bit so the ARB is level. You can run stock drop links but they are fit once only for the most part, so it's better to go aftermarket. A bit more than £35 but not hugely expensive.

The short answer is that they are hardy cars, mechanically. Yes, coil packs can throw EML and the only way to sort that is to replace the coil pack. I've gone through three in 104K miles. The weeping cam plate is a well known issue too, though not difficult to sort and not hard to DIY. VVTi issues are far, far less common. Most people will experience condensation in the rear lights. This is just a cosmetic issue though. Mine have done it forever, I just chose not to worry about it. The other thing that does happen is the drivers side glass guide, between the window and the front quarter light will rust where the seal sits. Lots of these have been done under warranty. Lots will say that the car is difficult to get into second gear when going down the box from third when cold. This happens to everyone and is simply just how it is. It's fine after five minutes of driving. Mine has done this since I got it and still does now. Again, not a fault as such, some complain about it more than others. The engine is strong there are no problems as such with the drivetrain. The same applies to the suspension. I've not gone through any wheel bearings, brakes and discs last well, typically over 30K miles. Tyre wear is fairly even, though the rears don't last as long as the fronts.

There are plenty of us running manifolds and exhaust systems with and without the second cat who aren't having issues. A resonated catback is a safe bet I'd say.
