    Lightweight Pulleys

My observation is that the stock pully has a harmonic damper. The lightweight ones don't. I don't think Subaru/Toyota would have put a harmonic damper on if it didn't need one. Gains would be minimal with lighter pulleys. It's just bling without harmonic dampers as far as the crank pulley goes anyway. Fitting lightweight pulley on the water pump and alternator is just bling really, nothing more.

Co-ordsport meet and open day 30/07/17

A bit of a trek for me, but will try. Would be interested to see what they do.
  4. I specced mine when I ordered my car. £110 IIRC.

LOL! I got 25K out of the front and 14K out of the rears though that was including sprinting and the odd track day. You'll be fine, don't worry. The surface I expect will be rough at Kendrew so it'll take a bit more out of your tyres.

I ran with the Primacy for an entire Sprint series on 215's with an 8" rim. If you're going to use them up which will take a while anyway, you'll get used to it. I run Yoko V105's now which I love. When you sort out some coilovers that will transform it again. I think it depends upon how you like to drive. I like to be able to move the car around and less sidewall flex means more precision and a sharper response. It'll look right when you lower it. But not before.

It wouldn't increase a huge amount but you will feel the sidewall flex. It doesn't really translate to much more in the way of grip. I've run 215's on an 8" rim for must be somewhere over 60K miles now. Just put better tyres on. You will have more fun and precision with a 215 than a 225. I tried the 225 a few years ago, but didn't get on with it, so went back to 215s.

I would stick with 215's, works better than 225s as you'll increase the sidewall with 225's. I've tried it, 215's on an 8" rim is perfect IMO.

Nice wheels, maybe? Can't see them. Seems your photobucket account is locked.

    Second cat delete

No, no idea why you'd think there'd be a smell. I did this, already had a catback from new. It got a little louder and I gained a few horses, that was it really.

Welcome, Peter! Sounds like you've been enjoying your new car and that's how it should be. I too like a Euro trip and can recommend the Alps both clockwise and anticlockwise (clockwise is better, I think!). There are plenty of meets on and plenty in the south, check out the social meets and events section.

I'm sure you told me you were 53, Kev. You've aged.

    Greetings from Ireland

Well done, on the new purchase. This really is a car that can do it all and as I've always maintained, life is too short to drive a boring car. Any plans for the car, or does insurance kill the idea of modifications?

    Trolley Jack

I only use the scissor jack to get the car up enough to put the jack under. I have a quick lift two tonne jack but it doesn't go anywhere near low enough. Using a scissor jack to get lift it 40mm or so is no problem at all really. It's a way round it that costs nothing I guess so there is that!

    My GT86 Progress Thread

That is crying out to be lowered. It's the way of things that the moment you put aftermarket wheels on it will look too high! Good deal on the BC's then? Most seem to go for Tein Flex A's.

There are a few for sale at the moment on the forum. Worth checking out Autotrader etc. Good luck, let's hope it's white rather than ginger.
  20. Well, I guess if you have an uprated clutch it will get heavy in stop start traffic. Can't say I approve of the auto choice though. I sit in traffic everyday and well, it's just how it is. AMG is not a good option, crap in the reviews. An M car is nearly very good, edgy handling. RS is 4WD and doesn't quite seem to deliver on the thrills. They are all good cars excepting the dull AMG, but all with their flaws as well. Might be worth seeing how the new Civic Type-R works out. It's really difficult to think of what to move on to, I think, especially given the power your car has as I know you're that way inclined.

2013 Pearl white, manual with low miles

It'll be a lot more fun. Less torque, but the bonus is it's not a diesel to it revs and is a lot more responsive.

Yes we have a stand. See the events section.
  23. Sorry to hear you're selling, Ross. A 70 mile commute each day is no problem. I did it for years in my car easily. Even with a turbo I expect a fair amount of it is just cruising on the motorway. I just don't see why a turbo car should be considered so fragile. Your mileage is low too. I would have thought given how set up for daily driving you car is, it would be perfect for that kind of commute. Of course I understand if you are looking to buy something new entirely. But the question is what?

Welcome aboard. Don't worry there are a number of members who have breezed past 50! A lot of us have changed the audio, it's quite easy to fit something better.
