For the first three years of owning my car I did 25K or so miles. Four and a half years later I'm on 99K miles! You can do a fair bit without worrying about invalidating the warranty, with things like exhaust, induction and suspension and I admit, I spent £3K on a custom install a month after getting the car. Well worth having decent sounds if you like your music and do the miles. In fact when I ordered my car, my dealer gave me the option of an exhaust and induction kit, so I ticked that box. There are a lot of us that have done these kind of mods with no problem with the warranty. So if you change your exhaust it will invalidate the warranty on your exhaust but not on the rest of the car. I'm having a full polybush kit fitted in the next two weeks, adjustable lower suspension arms too. So, thinks like exhaust, decat, air filter, wheels and some good coilovers are a good way to go. A remap and exhaust manifold makes very good gains if you choose carefully too. That's happening for me in three weeks time.

Welcome aboard, plenty going on now we're in the midst of summer. Any plans for the car?
-
Sounds good, Bob, must admit, I've never been that way. The magnetic pull of the Alps, Italy and German autobahns always seems to have me wanting to turn left after the chunnel! Looks like it will be a nice trip though. I too just love to hit the road, the trip is part of the holiday for me, nothing like having a nice open road in front of you.

Well, only one way to truly find out. I do expect there to be an increase of NVH, though I've already got coilovers with pillowball mounts and they do increase it a bit. We'll see.
-
No, it won't be. Just one rose joint. It'll just be more accurate. Had a few rose jointed parts on the AE86. You'd never know. I've had a full polybush kit on one of my cars before, they don't really make it more harsh, just a bit more accurate. Win, win pretty much.

Just use the key, only the immobiliser will be activated. Last time I put the car on a cross channel ferry I just locked it as normal alarm and all. I don't see why it would go off. I didn't even think about not putting the alarm on.

Rose joints themselves are steel. The bolt that threads into the arm is titanium you can see by the colour of the metal. Yes, full polybush kit.

Keith, 2nd July is after Japfest 2 which is on the first, so that will correct.

As my car is approaching 100K miles (in the next week or two!) I thought time for a refresh of some parts and a few small upgrades. First up is these things of absolute beauty. I know they're bonkers expensive, but once you see them, that's it, the card comes out and well, I had to have them. Do it once and all that. More tuning mods to come.

Yes, right you are, lack of sleep got me confused! But I realise for the last four hours I've been watching the Number 8 car!
-
It just went from bad to worse in the early hours. First the lead numbr 7 car couldn't accelerate and never made it back. Then the number 8 car in second had a puncture and suffered a similar fate. Was just awful to watch. I went ot bed at 1.30am or so as no point staying up all night. I really thought we were going to do it this year, but it's worse than last year.
-
Yes, they did, 1, 2 and 4. Koboyashi set a blistering pace well ahead of anyone else to take pole position. Been watching the qually the last two evenings.
-
We should definitely do it as a club one year. Only trouble is, it needs commitment the year before to get the right camping places. Enjoy, I so badly want to go back again. I'm having a Le Mans party at home instead.
-
Welcome aboard. There's another FB group apart from the Drivers Club one?
-
Yep, that's the trouble, black is just so dull and takes all the detail away. Still, look forward to seeing the other ones back on when they're refurbed.
-
Get them done, Tay it will be well worth it. Such a shame to take the detail out of them with them being black. Or just run them for a bit and sort them out later. For example; AE86 new suspension pre-geo old tyres by Lauren Blighton, on Flickr

I think a polished lip is the way to go with these, then do the centres a different colour.
-
What do you mean by a 'forced intake'?
-
Welcome aboard, you have been busy! Sort of like a Stealth look. Must admit, not sure what 'murdered' in this context means!
-
Welcome aboard Chris, plenty of meets and stuff on now summer is starting to happen (well for some of us at least!). It will give you a better idea of what mods to do, always good to see what others have done.

The spring rate on the HKS setup is is 6kg front 4kg rear which is weird. Most other setups use 6/6jkg, or like I use 5/6kg. 1 degree is a bit conservative, I would say 2 degrees is better. I have driven your car years ago and I felt it was a bit too soft on the rear end like it would roll over itself a bit.

Welcome aboard, Matt. I think there are a few owners around your area, but you'd inevitably have to travel for events which will undoubtedly be north of where you are. Any plans for the car?
