    Hey GT86 Crew

It being a lower spec Australian import explains it all and also explains the incorrect registration making the car older than it actually is. I can't see it being a private plate. Do you have pics of the interior? Does it have manual aircon rather than climate control? You have the low spec headlights which are not HID as all models were in the UK at that time. The wiring will be different also. So it looks like you have a lower spec car than what you would have got in the UK for the same year >July 2012. I would also check whether it's had the valve spring recall as it will be affected, but I'm not sure how you would go about that with an import

    Hey GT86 Crew

Welcome. I saw your post about headlights on the other forum. They don't look like standard headlights, or they are the lesser ones from a Primo or lower spec car. The DRL should be in the headlight unit and is a strip. Has the car had any history in terms of accidents? The OEM headlights are very expensive. I wonder if someone has replaced the headlights as I can't work out any other reason why you would not have the HID units with LED DRL's in. I also noticed you have a 61 plate which pre-dates the release of the car by at least 5 months. Guessing a private plate?

    Finding limited edition car number

It's not a limited edition. So there are no numbers. I'm not sure where you got the 250 from?

    SOLD

You need to post pictures and price as per selling rules on the forum, please. That link you posted doesn't work either. 👎
  5. Better still get replacements from Toyota. I may have some, but they had been on the car for 100K miles before they came off for a BBK.

Why do Toyota use DOT 3 brake fluid?

    I run 5.1 in mine. It's fine.
  7. There are literally loads of things that are fitted Port of Entry (POE) Portbury Docks as it is for UK cars. The alarm, is another. UK TRD's had the bodykit fitted at POE as another example same is true of wheels etc. @ttjt16 just fit an aftermarket head unit with Apple Car Play. There are tons out there and you'll likely get something better anyway that what is being offered in the US.

    Advice needed!

You make a fair point, I get it and you are right. You'd expect a glimmer of something by now. Maybe with the GR Yaris nobody was expecting is so they wanted to generate interest by letting such things out. Perhaps as you rightly point out interest in the replacement GT86 is so high, that by not showing anything it keeps people guessing and thus interest levels high. It's hard to know but I agree given a launch in a years time you would expect something. It is possible that it could have been delayed and if so I'm sure Toyota would not want to have a similar situation that they did with the Supra, so it is perhaps more likely that nothing is set in stone. Maybe the pandemic has pushed it back a bit and once things settle down we'll hear about it. It could also be that they want to push the GR Yaris which is getting all the publicity and marketing at the moment, so they will wait till that is over before muddying the waters with the new GT86/GR86. That would make sense. Especially so with the new GR86 being a Gazoo Racing product. This is big news as it is with the Yaris, so one product launch at a tie is the obvious way to play it.

I'm not sure why you'd expect to see spy shots yet. Take the GR Yaris which I have followed very closely as I have one on order. There was nothing official released till March. The most of a teaser we had was the press testing of prototypes at Estoril back in December. Then when they do announce the car in March the order books open, with deliveries the following November. I would expect similar with the new GT86. I expect we'll hear something closer to autumn with a summer launch predicted. The problem with the Supra is that they talked about it too early and if felt like an absolute age.

    2021 GT86 and BRZ

Yep, none of this has any evidence to support it is what will happen, but it is the most plausible I've seen. Until Toyota say something we shall have to wait and see.
  11. To be fair it's unlikely to be the ARB. For drop links, turn the steering from lock to lock as it moves the drop link up and down a fair bit. I had a problem with a horrible noise which turned out to be a dry joint on a drop link. It took a while to work it out. It's also hard to see but I had a boot that covered my drop link that had slightly come away allowing water into the ball joint which made it rust.
  12. Adi. You would be able to find play if there is any in the balljoint. Same with bushes, so if there isn't any, it's not likely to be that. Mine clunks/pops too, often when I move backwards. I've not had any vibration though. Unless your mileage is really high the bushes are not likely to be worn. Not sure what it is, but more likely to be something else, like ARB or track rod. Unless they can isolate what it is, I'm not sure it's worth keep changing parts.
  13. Adi, it's just called a 'front lower arm'. It's not a wishbone as it's a Macpherson Strut setup on the front. Can you not buy a new balljoint? Even at my mileage, I've yet to have a balljoint replaced.
  14. Have you spoken to Fensport about it? I tried the flat shift option once in a sprint, but decided I like my syncros and clutch too much and couldn't cope with abusing my car in this way! I figured it gained nothing anyway. Guessing you don't have this issue if you don't flat shift?

As has been said, you still have 4 years of warranty left, seems a pretty safe bet really.

TD or Invidia N1 Cat Back

I can vouch for the quality of the TD exhaust, had mine on for 50,000 miles without issue. Non res is fine if you have the primary cat. Invidia N1? No thanks, just way too loud, unless your name is Reece! Sure you can get TD to fit lowering springs. Won't be hugely expensive, but contact them for price as you will need a geo setup too.

Definitely get the one with PP. 15K miles a year is fairly average. I did 25K in my first year. I wouldn't worry about that.

GR Yaris who's going for it?

Yes, saw that yesterday. I am fairly certain that it will be used in WRC in hybrid form for 2022 anyway. It will compete as it's made for the R5 regs with the 3 cylinder engine, so Toyota will be supplying teams to run it in WRC 2 etcetera. Dissappointing I can't see it in WRC next year though, will have to wait another year.

    2021 GT86 and BRZ

GR Yaris has a petrol particulate filter (PPF). It's the reason for a 10bhp decrease compared to the JDM versions. Am sure the new GT86 will have one too. Can't find out if it's mandatory or not, but I suspect it will be.
  21. The reasons Europe and the UK did not get the updates is doubtless due to Euro 6 emission compliance and also our higher speed limits negating the point of a shorter final drive. We did get the revised suspension and reinforced chassis. You can always swap in an Alcantara dash panel if you're that worried about it. It's a small detail really. Don't forget the Brembos and different wheels (to clear them) are a Blue Edition option only. Same is true of the slightly revised Sachs dampers in the 'Performance Pack'.

    2021 GT86 and BRZ

I think, exactly this, Toyota are not looking to significantly increase power, the balance is actually right where they want it and to give it a load more power misses the point and USP of what the car is designed to do. It makes sense on a lot of levels too. I am not sure that there will be a 2.0 turbo Supra sold in the UK, but it certainly gives Toyota the option of introducing one, which would be far less likely if the 2.0 Supra and GT86 end up with similar power levels. There is also the GR Yaris, but I would not expect the new GT to have more power than that, so a figure around the 220bhp fits in as one would expect with the rest of the Toyota range.

    2021 GT86 and BRZ

I'm not sure about this one, though the power output is probably what everyone would like to see in a GT86. I have heard rumours, but that's all it is that it will end up in some hot Corolla in the future, but it is quite a specialised engine with a very high specific output. I am not sure it would be so easy to produce in the high numbers required should it be used cross platform as there is some hand finishing involved.

    2021 GT86 and BRZ

Your reasoning, @Church is based on comparing the GT with an FK8 which is in a different class/sector where all hot hatches of this type are turbocharged. The GT86 does not fit within that niche, so I am not convinced that is a good argument. Whilst I agree, that emissions lead to the likelihood of the new car having a turbocharged engine, there is absolutely nothing that confirms this. On another note and please, no offence intended as I know English is not your first language, but it's 'lose', not 'loose'. Think of it as to 'win or lose', with loose being the opposite as tight. I know so many native English speakers use poor grammar, but saying 'loose' when it should be 'lose' really ruins your eloquence.
  25. The UK and Europe did not get the red aluminium intake manifold, nor the other revisions such as shorter final drive or the 5bhp increase. Ignore the US market stuff, they get lower spec versions in terms of trim. There is no difference between early facelift cars and later ones as far as the UK is concerned. The post facelift cars in the UK did get Alcantara on the dash panels, but it was later on, not in 2017 as the car you used as an example shows. See the example here of a later Blue Edition I reviewed with Alcantara on the dash:
