I got a set, which were absolutely perfect for what I wanted. I jumped on it pretty quickly though to make sure I got them. You just need to keep your eye out really. I waited nearly a year for them to turn up and I admit, I was always of the persuasion that I wasn't going to change my wheels until the right set turned up. Worth the wait, but so hard to find. Mine came through a friend I know. What I would say is don't give up and go for fake wheels, i.e., copies like Rotas and JR's. Bide your time and you will find them eventually. Also even with a refurb they'll hold their value in a way copies won't. Another friend happened on a set of CE28's and I just told her to buy them straightaway. Nice wheels.

Yes probably! I blame Mike! I have 17x8 Rays TE37, though they are like rocking horse poo second hand. A friend did manage to pick up some 17x17.5 CE28's though. Again, rocking horse poo.

Kul, given you are looking for forged wheels, you may as well state what you want as there aren't that many options really. You're looking at Rays etc for forged wheels. Was going to say TSW but pretty sure they don't come in 17".

Jeff the Toyota screwdriver is perfect for popping out the cover for the tow hook. That's what I do anyway.

I think it's a matter of preference. I prefer sensors over a camera, because I like to use my side mirrors when reversing and a camera is distracting.

Nice, glad you've not fallen into the trap of modding already. Something to consider, you don't lose any money on mods if you don't sell the car. Could be another way?
-
Just copy image address then click on insert other media and click insert image from URL. Are you sure about those mats?

You won't get anywhere near 225bhp. More like 215bhp at absolute best, but the driveability will be far better. That's where it counts.

Invidia Q300 vs Milltek resonated noise level comparison

Yep, he has. It seems all the rage these days, guessing just retarding the ignition to cause it. -
Invidia Q300 vs Milltek resonated noise level comparison
Lauren replied to Nik_86's topic in Mechanical
Yep. I've had one since I bought my car, well, when I say one that has actually turned out to be four. I do like the sound of it though, spot on really. Such a shame about the cracking issue. -
I haven't. But I'll be honest I only care about my class, but I do and will continue to check all the tyres people are running. I noticed that Stan had AD08R's in his car and challenged it. He was disqualified from the class handing me the win. Stan was okay with this though, it wasn't a problem, but he clearly should have checked as he was running an 1B list tyre.

All the tyes in the sprint are road legal tyres.

You can't just make up the rules as you go along. People have specifically chosen tyres that are on the list and not gone for others that aren't. I was considering PS4's but when I realised they were not on the list they were not an option. Kev had the same issues with Bridgestones. The rules quite clearly state MSA List 1A, so you can't use tyres that are not on the list. Whilst I agree that it will almost definitely be in list 1A, it isn't currently on it for this year. Adrian can't just make it up as he goes along. It's totally not on.
-
Bear in mind if there is any inclination to enter the TSS that the PS4 is not a tyre you can use. I expect it would be pretty good though. I have PS3's on my AE86 and they are too grippy tbh. The sidewall is not stiff enough either despite me pulling them a bit with a 195/50 on a 7.5" rim. I have Yoko V105's on my GT, on my third or fourth set, I really like them, great grip and also really progressive.
-
You can get any wheel powdercoated to the colour you want. As Jeff said, you don't really want a staggered setup, unless you love understeer and those rears are on the large size width wise. A 225 on an 8.75J rim is ideal. 235 is okay too.
-
Well arguably you could just run unclassified I guess, still get your times and all that, see if you can beat the rest of us on List 1a tyres. But if you're talking about your pilot cup sports then you are in N1 Pro as they are a list 1b tyre.
-
N1 Pro if any class, but if they're not on the list it begs the question. I expect the only solution is not to be classified given they're not on List 1B. Mind you there is no-one in N1 Pro anyway.
-
I know. Unfortunately rules are rules, they have to be followed. In motorsport it gets pretty serious when it comes down to tyres and the like. It's only too late because they are not on the MSA list. Everyone else in the series has followed the rules in regard to tyres, so there can be no exception. I'm pretty sure that I would not be the only one complaining if someone entered N1 class and was running PS4's. I considered these tyres too after all (as I suspect did everyone else) until I noted they were not on the list. In my opinion it would make no sense to allow them. So there can be no common sense I'm afraid. But in summary, the only way to compete in the N1 class is to choose tyres off the list. There really can be no other way.
-
Yep, the big problem is if the PS4's offer an advantage, then it's a no go. I cannot see any other option than simply keeping to the rules. If you enter into any competition there are clear rules with everything including tyres, you have to conform to them. A few years ago, Stan ran an AD08-R. I questioned it, he was disqualified which he fully accepted handing the class win to me. It's a shame Michelin didn't offer their tyres up for classification. They'll probably make it on the list for next year though, we shall see. But what if they were classified as List 1B? So as you can see there's no way PS4's can be allowed if they are not on the list. As I said earlier, there can be no flexibility in this. I will be checking tyres come every round as I do for my class as a matter of course.
-
Not something I would consider doing I'm afraid. The tyre lists are out, those are the rules. PS4's need to be classified in the list. Kev went for the tyres he did because the other ones he wanted weren't on the list, so he coudn't use them. We all have to conform to the rules, you can't make exceptions. The only way you can compete on PS4s in the N1 class is if they get added to the list which of course they won't be. I get your problem, but the first thing I do when I'm looking at tyres is check the MSA List 1a.
-
Yeah, you will have to change your tyres to ones on the list. I did try and tell you I think! Talk is cheap as you know, let's see if you can walk the walk. Maybe just do a few rounds. I'd say don't go over 235's for sprinting as you won't get the heat into them over a lap and it'll murder your times. If you have another set of wheels that will take 225's or 215's run with that and stick some Yoko Advans on. Narrower tyres get up to temperature more quickly.
-
I will do a bit of a review once I've put some mileage on them. So far they feel lovely, lots of feel which was my main reason for going for them. I will get a good opportunity for some serious trail braking at Blyton Park for the first round of the sprint series, so that will tell me what I need to know about their stopping power and their feel. Are you going to come have a play in the sprint series at some point?

I tried EBC greens once. Their lack of cold bite was annoying and a partial contributor to me rear ending someone. They also seemed to fall apart. Wouldn't touch them personally. I think they're budget pads really. I put Project Mu HC800 pads on recently. They do squeal a bit but cold bite is great, no issue. They will get thoroughly tested at the upcoming sprint this weekend.

Welcome, lurker! These green wheels seem to be catching on!
