Yes it is absolutely stock. RRG did not put it in. Richard was just as surprised to find it. Just thought I'd check and there it was.

He's on the ferry. I grounded out when I was stock on the upper level. The lower level is fine though. I just tell them I can't go on it. Last time I went out there I told them I couldn't get on the upper deck and they put me with all the vans and MPV's where it's one big single deck. But on the way back I didn't worry about it and they put me on the lower deck, which was fine really.

I cannot believe this post is getting for two and a half years old! I really think a lot of the parts you have for sale, nobody wants because they are all the stock parts a lot of us already have in our garage. For example I have a stock exhaust all wrapped up that came off when my car came off the transporter. I've not bothered trying to sell it, because I doubt anyone wants it or needs it. It'll be years till it's worth money. I think your better bet is to drastically reduce your prices, or just hang on to it all like the rest of us!

Yeah, totally agree about the beam deflectors. If you need to drive at night stick them on then, but don't bother otherwise. There are some rules that you should have a warning triangle and spare bulbs and the like, but it's all old laws and I really don't think they bother applying them. When I got nicked for speeding in France, they didn't even look at the car. Also if someone tells you that you need a breathalyser, the French have given up on that now. If you are using a lot of Peage you can get a tag thing that sticks on your windscreen and means you can use the tag lanes. They Peage's are not normally that busy, but if they are it's a bit of an advantage as you can take the quick lane through. If I was you, I'd think about heading to the Alps if you can afford it. The Dolomites are spectacular and a route via Strasbourg (highly recommended) and then a cross over to Germany to hit a whole load of de-restricted autobahn and then the crazy passes of Austria will be preferable to Disneyland Paris. You can flick your speedo over to km/h, so no worries there. You'll find driving on the other side tiring at first, but you soon get used to it. I've done it so many times now, I just flick into it when I get off the Chunnel. You should be okay on the ferry, but forewarn them if it looks like it will be a problem. They'll probably get planks of wood out. I tend to use the Chunnel and last used the ferry when my car was standard. It was close then. Don't go over an indicated 140km/h in France, you'll get nicked.

I found a worn thing - not sure what it is, or how concerned to be - pls help

You are quite right. Jonathan had Tein coilovers on it when he had the car but he put it back to standard before selling it. It's either damage a maybe a big wide rim has rubbed it? Hard to tell from the pic. But just the handbrake cable and only the outer sheath, so not serious. -
Fair comment Ade and I guess what we have to remember is that whilst the older cars had oil coolers (I'm talking old Toyotas) there has been some progress indeed in regard to oil technology, so I think we're likely worried about running oil temps, but the newer oils probably stand up far better than the old stuff. So there is that. I'm guessing 125C for oil temps is no real issues. I've not seen mine go above this, though I admit I lifted off when it got to this temperature. My car has done it's fair share of track work without issue. I'm just 94K miles, so it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Good move I think. A 19 row should be ample. Have that size on my AE86, total overkill on a 1.6 probably, but better sized for a 2 litre. How much was it? I got my last one from Driftworks.
-
Totally agree, Jeff. I was holding the car at high revs in second gear and having a bit of a blast in third, but it's mostly downhill, there were a number of full throttle moments, but it was only 6C and very slippery. It did surprise me that the oil temp got so high. I commented to Richard that as you say, they should have considered fitting an oil cooler. It's odd when you think about it, as going back to older Toyota's the UK specs always had oil coolers fitted whereas the JDM cars didn't.

The new car does not have the Toyota badge. Nothing has been removed. I must admit, I care little about the different front end which I think people will get used to, but the greater rigidity and nicer interior make it a no brainer in this one being more desirable in the long run. I also think the front end will look better when the car is lowered a bit, it always helps.
-
Yeah, there's not much you can do about that, Church. But it's hardly a big issue. If I feel it's being too intrusive I just turn everything off. For the most part it's okay. Or you could just buy the new one. Sorted! I must admit, in years to come, people will favour the kouki over the zenki, just like with the AE86. When I was looking for an AE86 some six years ago, I spent my time to make sure I got a kouki as it has a better interior (no crazy colours) and some other revisions like an uprated diff and the like.

I didn't turn the stereo on. They look simple enough, like most Toyotas so I don't expect that would be an issue. I spent more time playing with the dash via the steering wheel controls.

Buying a supercharged gt86 with no experience of modified cars
Lauren replied to ThatGuyThere's topic in GT86/BRZ General Chat
Check to see if Mark at Abbey serviced it, as otherwise your warranty will be out the window. Go to RRG Macc'. It's a no brainer. -
No it isn't. Even though a supercharger doesn't have the issues that a turbo has, you always lose response compared to an NA. It's not a huge amount, but it is there.

Welcome aboard! Do come over to our stand at Japfest and say hello.

The V105's are good in the wet to be fair. When I talk about how they are, I'm not talking about traction off the line, but how well they grip when cornering in the wet. I seem to get a feeling that a lot of people talk about wet grip in terms of how easy or not it is to spin the tyres up under acceleration.
-
It's just the weather at this time of year. Things will improve as temperatures and conditions improve. I really like the Yoko V105's and am on my third set (I think) now, though it may be the fourth set on the rears. It significantly improves grip over the Primacy tyre and is still nice and progressive so you can play with it still. Contisport Contact 5's have better grip off the line but not as much grip when cornering in my experience. Goodyears make a good road tyre, but sidewalls are soft which robs feel and they don't tend to stand up to track use, if that's a consideration for you. A lot of people are going for PS4's though I have yet to try these. If you're just doing road driving either the Yoko, Contisports F1's or PS4 look like the obvious candidates.
-
Well, it obviously has less power, but it has better throttle response of course, you can't beat an NA for that, so balancing the throttle mid corner as I do, it's great for that. The trouble is for me, I'd rather use more of my power band more of the time and that's what you can do more in the NA, less power means you can be on it more, without going stupid fast. The trouble is a big turbo or SC and big tyres, means you'll have fun less of the time on the public road which is where, let's face it, we all spend the majority of our time.

The Sprintex reminded me of the old Roots type blower on my MR2 SC, lots of torque in the mid-range, but it didn't feel strong at the top end. Though to be fair it was much better than the MR2 supercharger. The HKS is different it really flies at the top end, but I think the HKS does more than well enough in the mid-range. It was my favourite out of the Sprintex and the AVO turbos I tried, though the AVO turbo stage 1 was nice, the stage 3 less so.
-
I've driven the Sprintex and HKS. What I liked about the HKS was that it really went at the top end, so in a way it was more like the NA, in that you had to really work it to get the best out of it. But I do love high revs (the appeal of an NA I suppose). So it's a preference thing of course. I found with the Sprintex (I still haven't driven a GT with the Cosworth blower) that though it provided strong torque, it didn't really give a rush at higher revs. But I still found the HKS brisk enough in the mid range.

I always liken it to this.

This is just the front? Ow much is a kit?
-
I've not had any issues with road noise, but I don't have 245's.

It's less well known, Paul, but they certainly exist. Very popular with MX5 owners.

Here you go, quite a selection of cars going:

Welcome aboard, James, good car the Clio RS 200. Look out for some localmeets. There is a Midlands breakfast meet this weekend. You'll probably find what you're looking for there and it's not uncommon for people to give passenger rides. Good luck with the search.
