  1. I think it depends a lot on what interest rate they are offering you. That will tell you what the repayment is going to be. If you pay back at the minimum rate and have a big balloon at the end you may get it under £300.

I think reviews seem to be positive so far, though it's UK reviews that count. If they're really good, they won't be going cheap come June 2023.

I don't expect it to quite go like the GR Yaris as its not a homologation special. Still at least you can get heated seats! ;)

  2. I was out for a walk with Richard yesterday. He said that the demo is expected in Spring, thinking March/April. He has some pre-orders in, but delivery is expected for June. Obviously we are awaiting full UK specifications. I would expect that to be released before the demo arrives, so anytime soon really.

As soon as he gets the demo, I will be reviewing it. :)

OK, I thought you were talking about the GR Yaris red. Much nicer than the plain red that's being offered, IMO.

Ah I see! The Yaris red, is simply 'Scarlet Flare' which has been available on the Corolla for a couple of years at least. It looks good in the sun, but it doesn't look good in my opinion when dirty or on a dull day. I had a courtesy Corolla in that colour two years ago.

Not likely that we'd get different colours to those in the US, they got more colours than us for the GT86 (with special editions) so no reason to expect more than are listed on @will300's link.

Doesn't matter to me as I'm not planning to replace my current car.

    That's not what I meant.

I meant that you may well have the colours that Will suggested.

  5. Richard did say colour are 'same as GR Yaris TBC'. So I suspect there are likely more colours to be available. The GR Yaris was only available in Gazoo Racing colours plus the pearl white.

I would expect that if you put a deposit down now, when it comes to placing an actual order you can choose your colour then and it would seem likely there'll be more colours available judging by what we already know from other markets.

The Neptune Blue is a really nice colour. 👍

Wheels are easily changeable so a good set of Rays will set them apart and take it back to JDM instead of German BBS ones emoji3.pngemoji6.png

I also see a huge advancement in safety and driver aids in Automatics which are effectively Subaru Eye Sight safety tech which is class leading. That excites me more than the cosmetic stuff which can be changed / retrofitted.

Haha! The BBS ones are made in Japan. ;)

  8. For the geeks out there, we've worked out on the GR Yaris forum that the wheels are a cheaper cast version with thicker spokes than the GRY circuit pack forged BBS wheels. PCD looks different which is is no surprise as fully expect GR86 to use 5x100PCD compared to the 5x114.3 PCD of the GRY.

It wouldn't be worth putting a brand new engine as the costs are always ridiculous, a second hand engine is definitely viable. I cannot see how the sums wouldn't add up, even if you bought it back and get it done outside of the insurance.

So pleased you got it back though, my worst fear would be finding it burnt out somewhere. Are Police forensics being done?

Pretty much certain it'll be written off. Mark will not be able to afford it to insure it again after this, so it's game over for that car. It would have been easier if it was burnt out in all honesty.

Nothing will happen until Mark has an anti-fraud interview on Friday. Guessing this is because it's stolen recovered.

Police forensics were done on Saturday. Nothing found.

    ****bags.

If they're happy rifling through someone's house while they're in bed you never know what they might have done had you caught them at it.

We are pretty much definite it was one burglar who came in. I expect if I had got up sooner they would have legged it. The most common response by far, the police said. The last thing they want is confrontation. What is properly scary is that it took us 10 minutes to get through on 999.

With that in mind, various trophies and stuff are now positioned around the house, just in case. Not sure I'd be brave enough to clobber a burglar, but just in case we are.

Mark won't be leaving his keys downstairs again. Fortunately I am far more careful with mine.

Disklok fitted and Ghost being installed tomorrow. Obviously anti snap locks fitted by locksmith last Saturday. Will think about posts too.

  11. Apologies for not updating this thread. Focus ended up being on social media which helped us find the car. My friend spotted it and I was with it in 6 hours of being stolen.

Unfortunately they have ruined the engine which explains why it was abandoned on a slip road off the Princess Parkway by Mersey Bank estate Manchester.

We got it recovered and had it home by 5.30pm on Saturday. Mark is now going through the insurance. Insured through Greenlight btw.

Can't see any other way than it being written off with the engine gone and needing a lock set. We did get Richard at RRG to price up for a new engine and lock set, which came in at £15K and even with an expected discount would not be viable.

There is a possibility that Mark will buy it back from insurance but it will depend on what they pay out and how much they want for a buy back. In that event it will likely be broken for parts. :(

A sad end for the car. I've had to up the security on the GR and the house. Not cheap.

  12. Had a burglary at 0630 this morning. Obviously targeting my GR.

Fortunately my keys are well hidden upstairs. My other half's keys for the GT86 (my old car) were on the kitchen side. The thieving scum went through all the cupboards and draws downstairs having gained entry by snapping a lock on the French doors. Dog got up barked, then next thing I heard the GT86 start (it has as loud exhaust) and saw it speeding off up the road. image.gif

Had the police and forensics round, not got anything.

Obviously on the remote chance anyone hears anything do please let me know.

From the SavageGeese review: they say the GT doesn't trailbrake , does not rotate under braking. It bothered me a bit but I thought 'it must be me'. It's not clear to me whether the GR does better on that.

(also I wonder how people fixed that on the GT)

That doesn't make sense as the GT definitely will rotate under braking. I have always used this to good effect on the sprints. You need to do it with everything turned off though it will do it to a point in sport/track mode.

  14. Looks really good to be fair. Only had time to watch one vid, but will have a look at the others tonight. I think they have gone in the right direction with it. Bit more power, bit more grip, much the same balance, which lets face it was just great. Quite like the dash options too.

  15. For sale, well it feels like I'm giving it away is my GT86 stock exhaust. This exhaust has done zero mileage and was removed from my new car at PDI as I had a Milltek fitted before I collected it in February 2013. The exhaust was wrapped and sat in my shed for the last 8.5 years.

I mistakenly thought if I sit on it, then it may be worth something. Alas this has proved to not be the case!

I live 2 miles from Manchester Airport. Due to what it is, it will be collection only.

  16. Fair comment, Sam. Speaking for myself and the club, I have absolutely no problem with other groups, doing their own thing, I totally understand that and support it and the community. Variety is a good thing and it is never ever going to be the case  that there can be only one club.

We are always happy to work together with other clubs, no problem at all.

I think when the OP started the thread it came across I fully expect unintentionally that there was some rivalry, when of course there is not.

The only issue I would say that did arise, is that it's considered poor netiquette to wish to advertise an event such as the C&M event on our FB page from another group as Seb did without asking first. In the matter of further events, just let us know. For example with the GT86 OC, we always post on their forum explicitly inviting them to join us. For the other main GT86/BRZ FB page we have an arrangement where we advertise any of the events we have on their page as they are more of a FB group than a club per se.

  17. @Mani I'm a little surprised that Sam Hardy has not approached the drivers club in the first instance. That would have been the easy way. There is no breakdown in communication. Sam at Cult 86 has simply not consulted us. Then people seem to be aking us why. If Sam wishes to combine Cult 86 with the DC then all he had to do is ask. Simple stuff you'd think?

Cult 86 has 66 FB members. GT86 BRZ DC has over 11,600 I cannot think why it would be my job to chase them?

  18. A question I would ask is why Cult 86 didn't speak to us about joining with our stand seeing as it's been organised for a year and a half. Cult 86 could have had a section on our stand. Maybe you should ask them?

GT86 OC have always been invited to join us at Japfest.

The GT86 DC FB page is exactly that. It is not a joint venture with the OC.

If you would like to liaise with Cult 86 and direct them here, Jeff, Will and I would be more than happy to talk.

People will always ask the same questions over and over. It's simply the nature of the beast. We can't really help that many spend their entire lives on FB and don't look at forums, it's just the way things have gone.
