  1. I have an idea that people simply get their cars fixed and that's how they are kept in good condition. I will get my door dings sorted out once I'm working somewhere else and will doubtless get the front end re-sprayed at some point. The trouble is my car is on nearly 11K after 5 months so it's got nearly a years mileage already. So it doesnt look like a five month old car it looks a year old already! :( But it's not the end of the world, I intend to put lots of miles on it so you just have to accept it's going to happen.

  2. Posted ImageYou have to click on the 'A' icon which opens the advanced editor and then use the picture icon to insert a pic. I'm not sure about these, I think it's the way it come out towards the door that makes it look like it's not a good fit. I'm guessing this is intentional. Would look better on a black car I would think.

  3. Well, it''s always a 'battle'. Quite an interesting comparison it seems. I won't tell you the outcome but the GT86's tyres are a factor. Great fun as I remember on my last outing on track. I must admit the car does seem to get to a point after a few laps where tyres do seem to have no grip at all, especially at the rear. But the grip level then very much settles and you can endlessly exploit the handling balance to hold ever more lurid slides. Enjoy!

  4. Ooh I hate that. I've got four little dinks in my driver's door as a result of negligence by work colleagues in the car park. I also took the paint off the underside of the nearside pointy bit on the splittter. I've also scraped it underneath in about four places on a kerb. It's certainly got the used look now!

  5. Wrapping and plasti coating seems to be all the rage at the moment. I guess the thing to consider is how long it will last? Also what happens when you get a stone chip. These things may be easily sorted but it's not the same as paint of course.

  6. We left the tweeters in the dash and the completely useless rear speakers. They are just disconnected. I don't think the weight of all the gear is relevant to stuff like handling, really. Apparently I've saved nigh on 10kgs with my Milltek exhaust and de-cat, though 10kgs is neither here nor there. It's a personal choice. I really, really love my music, so it's important to me. I drive £25K miles a year and there are times when I just want to chill and have decent sounds. Actually though I think I need it as the road noise in this car is pretty bad, so it takes a sound system with some welly to drown it out!

  7. Hmm, looks pretty good. Seems to have a good amount of functionality. I guess that my only reservation is that it's made by Parrott rather than a recognised audiophile brand, though it has stuff that mine doesn't like being able to go on the web and far more nav options.

  8. You have blinded me with science Rob! If you could have a look at how my sub box and fibreglassing is done, perhaps that might help. I've got a JL W3 sub (I think), that fits pretty well and doesn't raise the boot floor at all really. Basically the remade boot floor in MDF sits on the original foam at the sides and obviously the sub box enclosure supports the main bit.I'm afraid I can't offer advice on the head unit really as mine has all the sat nav and phone, DAB and everything, but I guess it'll mean not wanting that stuff will make it a hell of a lot cheaper. This only really works if you have an iPod etc, but that can be a very good way of doing it whilst getting all the features as most head units will do this. You can get a big capacity USB, that's another option.

  9. Hmm, have heard similar news stories about this BMW collaboration before, but have seen little more than talk about it over the past year. I admit I never liked the Supra well, only the older ones like the Celica-Supra were cool, but we'll see! It's interesting but the GT86 is a relative disaster saleswise in the UK as it's nowhere near meeting it's targets. I'm not sure if this will affect anything in terms of what happens with this new 'Supra' or not, but I'm not overly convinced it's going to help, considering this new car is going to be more money.

  10. Best one I have is sans the door handle trim, but you get the idea:Posted ImageThe quality of the sound is astonishing. Last weekend I had a fellow owner come over and have a listen to his classical music on it. It was very impressive even though it's not really optimised for that. Enough to persuade him of a way forward. The clarity of the sound is on another level to what I've ever had before. The rear view mirror vibrates in time with the music. :P
