2013 White Toyota GT86 South Manchester (Lauren's Old Car)
DextersTechLab posted a topic in For Sale GT86 / BRZ Cars
I am sure many of you know this car already it's Lauren's old car and it's for sale, a unique opportunity to own one of the best known GT86 in the UK. Having featured in trips around Europe, track-days and a class winning car in the Toyota Sprint Series. just so everyone is clear this car was stolen from our home in November last year. It was recovered by myself and Lauren about 5 hours later after finding it abandoned in Manchester with a very damaged engine. The insurance was claimed on it, they wrote the car off as a Category N (written off with no structural damage). I then bought the salvage rights to it. It's been sat on our driveway throughout the time the insurance was processed. This means that: It will require a replacement engine. It will require a replacement lock / keyless entry set. It will have a Cat N write off marker on the registration. The MOT has expired It is Untaxed (SORN) Given the way it was driven by the thief there maybe other damage eg. to suspension. It will require a trailer to move. The engine does run, but it sounds very much like there's at least one big-end bearing has failed. It's enough to allow it to be moved about, but it is not drivable. We do have a spare key for it at and the V5C registration document. Ok, that is the worst bit over! Overall it is in good condition though, bear in mind it has done 159 thousand miles so there is going to be the usual wear and tear stuff. The odd dent, scratches etc. There is a small section of missing paint on the front bumper just under the Toyota badge. Of course given it's history it is a very very well setup car in terms of handling and braking and would make a great track-day weapon or competitive entry to the TSS. Here is your spec list: 159,738 Miles Leather + Alcantara heated seats. Injen Induction Kit Torque Developments EcuTek Remap Torque Developments exhaust 4-1 stainless manifold. Torque Developments exhaust full system. TRD Aero Fins 17x8 Volk Racing TE37 forged wheels. TEIN Street Flex Coil Overs. TEIN EDFC Active Pro. Full polyurethane bush kit including steering rack. SPA billet aluminium rear lower suspension arms. Whiteline adjustable front antiroll bar drop links AP Racing 4 piston callipers with 330mm grooved discs. Ferodo DS2500 brake pads. Alpine INE-W925R DAB head unit Focal 3 two way component speakers with crossover. Hertz HDP5 950W amplifier in boot 12” JL subwoofer in boot all housed in custom enclosure. Audison Bit 10 digital sound processor in boot TRD engine start/stop button Carbon fibre gear knob Schroth Rally 3 point harness New OEM HID bulbs fitted in 2020 New engine wiring loom fitted in 2017 Full service history All work carried out by RRG Toyota Macclesfield. It's located in South Manchester. Weekend viewing preferable, but i maybe able to do weekday mornings. Asking £5000 -
Here's a bit of an update on Lauren's old car after it was stolen last year, i wondered if some of you might like to know what happened after. After we recovered it back home we began the process of claiming on the insurance which was through Greenlight and ERS / Brownsword (the underwriter) I would say the whole process was extremely slow, it took weeks for an engineer to come out to it to simply agree with me the engine is toast and more weeks before brownsword made an initial offer. Which was £7000 with an option to buy salvage for 30% of the payout. Initially i refused this as i fully believe it was worth more before the theft. ERS essentially ignored my arguments that it was probably worth the £9000 i had it insured for on the policy. The other day i messaged them and 'gave in' and accepted the £7000 and took salvage, the matter is settled and the car is mine again after nearly three months! Now it remains to do something with it, the initial thoughts are to see if it can be sold as a project car for someone in the community, we really would like to see it back on the road and track and not parted out for bits in some kind of slow death given our history with it. Expect a post soon in the for sale section!
