Cannot see the links.... is it a Forum problem? Spec K -
Yes - same problem, Teg. Spec K

I think 500bhp with the stock crank / block is realistic. It is a very, very strong base unit. LFA (Ed) has a low compression engine built by Mark at Abbey fitted in his BRZ. Dunno if he's tracked it yet (he's a Nurburgring addict..) but it would be good to hear his experiences, although I don't know what his power output is.. Spec K

Nothing to worry about, Teg..... I had a nephrectomy in 2008. If you need any advice or support PM me. Spec K

NO! NO!... NO!... NO! It is 'yelp' in Oxford English.... not 'yip'... 100 lines before Assembly tomorrow morning , young man ... " yip is the sound of a dog demanding treats, yelp is the sound of a dog being soundly admonished" (.. and I want 50 of them in Latin, with full declination of verbs... hrrmph!) Spec K (aside... "Outrageous behaviour, Headmaster... boy deserves a good thrashing.. ")

Rob... I have no objection to Adrian demonstrating my car on a timed run (not wheel to wheel) against Mark ... but it would prove zilch and would not benefit either of them, I suggest. ... we are 'road drivers', not track stars... and the odd 1/10th is irrelevant, it is about an owners personal feel / intuition / style. It would be a total disaster if we (UK GT86 owners) all followed one route. And with the choice on turbo and on s/charged options (which are increasing almost daily) it is good that we have two centres of excellence to turn to.. ... if it's back-to-back comparison that is demanded let's get the Stig to do it.. The Washington Post's MENSA Invitational once again invited readers to take any work from the dictionary. alterit by addind, subtracting or changing one letter and supply a new definition. Here are the winners - Cashtration - The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time Ignoranus - A person who is both stupid and an asshole Intaxication - Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realise it was your money to start with Reintarnation - Coming back to life as a hillbilly Bozone - the substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating Foreploy - Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid Giraffiti - Vandalism spray-painted very, very high Sarchasm - The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it Inoculatte - To take coffee intravenously when you are running late Osteopornosis - a degenerate disease (This one got extra credit) Karmageddon - It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.. Decafalon - the grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you Glibido - all talk and no action (hehe..) Dopeler Effect - the tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly Beelzebug - Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out Caterpallor - The colour you turn after finding half a worm in the apple you're eating And, finally, one for Rob275 - Arachnoleptic Fit - The frantic dance performed just after you've walked through a spider web.. I've set my tickover to 900rpm.. but that's because I've got torque converter drag to contend with and it drops to 700rpm when in drive... or, like everyone else, when the aircon kicks in.. Spec K

Teg - yes, I was referring to your nengun/HCplus post. Spec K

That was certainly my experience, Keethos - queuing traffic on M1 (stop/start), then revs dropped almost to stall, engine firing on two cylinders, warning light came on... oil/water temperatures were normal... all sorts of little things stopped working (cruise control, autoblip to name but two)... I blipped the throttle to keep it running and it returned to normal tickover speed but the warning light remained on. Next morning from cold there was no warning light and everything went back to normal.... diagnostic showed that VVT had failed on right cylinder bank.. Spec K

Teg, that looks a good choice... might squeal a bit, being harder... I would certainly go for the Stop-tech grooved disks all round if you're going f/I.... but reverse the rotation or you get dust build-up in the grooves. Spec K

It's the lowered CR which interests me.... what are you planning, Nigel? 9:1? 10:1? I suppose a lot will depend which f/i you go with... Spec K

Agree with Nigel - Lee, you're a true petrolhead! Look forward to meeting you at the odd trackday - any plans to upgrade the induction? (I was surprised how much your seat backrest moves in the video...) Spec K

Figures look about right, Steve.. Adrian is running at 1bar, I am running (road) 0.7bar with full boost (track) at 0.82bar, which is deliberately set low to preserve engine integrity. I also lose more due to the auto box.. and non-billet turbo... and standard injectors.. and... and... <sob> Spec K

Nigel - I applaud your efforts to date but is this a wise move? As no-one who has gone f/I in the UK has, to my knowledge, found it necessary to change the front bumper beam to make room for an intercooler etc. (that includes Adrian with the GT86R) do you feel that this is necessary? There is adequate space in the existing void for water rad, intercooler and oil cooler... and 25mm lowering does not change that. Hence the need to carry out this modification is not proven. As Dave says - you are changing a fundamental 'crash/rigidity' structure on the car. Surely the most important factor is that you will compromise your insurance? In the event of damage to a pedestrian or other road user, whether your fault or not, you risk a prosecution (no insurance) and personal liability. A step too far...? Spec K
