...and therein the truth is unveiled... in top gear at 3000rpm you're breaking the speed limit anyway, so what's the issue..? The cops don't care if it's 3k or 3.4k, you're nicked... Rab - the auto has different gearing than the manual. Our auto 5th is the equivalent of the manual's 6th... and therein lies the reason for our Road Tax being cheaper than the 'gas guzzlers', bwahahaha... it also makes the 4.67 a better proposition for us, giving better acceleration without loss of high speed cruising. My experience is that the 4.67 does make an appreciable difference in acceleration. Drawback? It 'whines', no matter how precise you (or Fensport) are when fitting with shims and clearances. Spec K

Like Lauren I passengered the Cosworth car at Blyton. For an n/a it feels quick... but the most impressive thing for me is their brakes, the stopping power is awesome.. I will definitely consider these when I uprate my power.. Spec K

'Bozo'? Yep, sounds about right.... Spec K

Scepticism is a stoic trait, Mas.. applause.. I know that Pitman has been looking into this (No, not looking into your stoic traits, Mas... Waffle sprockets.. Did I not read somewhere that a guy has tried a multiplex waffle sprocket? I think it was the FT86 Forum... Yes! Found it! I'm not conversant on the physics but this is his formula (given I cannot show a square root function, even a beeta, I'm a right turnip on this stuff.. does we deem it necessary..?) - sign/(^2 cogent * <sigma> tangential) // (dia/pi) x <median groove dia> =/> waffle coefficient Guy swears it works... what can you say..? Might hold out for ages if machined from tonguesten... Spec K

Sorry but that's incomprehensible to me... it doesn't sound as though the 'wheel spring rate' actually relates to the kg rating of the springs, so it's a bit misleading when one is considering stiffening/softening. As for 1.4Hz being a 'well balanced' wheel frequency I wouldn't know what to compare it with.. (... is it a Dame Vera Lynne favourite - 'Wheel Meet Again'..?) Spec K

Why is it no-one's tried a smaller waffle sprocket? Is it a problem with the interlocking teeth? Spec K

Interesting.... I am very surprised that the 'stock' springs are more than 50% firmer on the rear than the front... is this is to invoke the 'tail-happy' squealy road style so loved by Keelerad and others...? I'll keep 6kgs on the front but I'll consider 5kgs on the rear... the opposite of 'stock'.. and reprogramme my Tein dampers accordingly. So far I've resisted playing with rollbars - lack of knowledge and a lesson learned about changing too much at once - anyone got feedback on rollbars? I agree with Lauren's comment - my 245 profile tyres are too wide on 9.5" rims, more suited to 10" on track but they're immensely reassuring on the road. I will go 235 profile for next year - not sure which tyre, I've used Yokohama ADO8's, F1 Eagles and Sport Pilot 3's on road and track. Might try the Contisports next.. trouble is I'm running out of space for tyres/rims in my garage, I've got 18 now... time for a sale, methinks... Spec K

Sorry to say that the 'Ebola virus for the GT86' has struck my car.. The tickover misfire, followed by ecu warning light, encountered on the M1 car park last Friday has been diagnosed as the dreaded vvti issue.. ... I cannot plan anything until my dealer/Toyo GB have discussed it and decided on the warranty way forward... Looks like I may miss Rob's BBQ and JAE... possibly even Croft... I will keep you all posted. Spec K

As I don't understand what you are whibbling on about I must presume this a "..black art.." I have asked the question. I know it's a simple question demanding a complex answer, but I'm a simple person. No-one has deigned to respond. Enlightenment, Glasshopper.. WTF are you on about? What is a 'stick' and, with the exception of a schoolteacher/dominatrix, how can it change my life? Spec K

Paul, Welcome - there's not many AT in the club... but it doesn't stop us winning, on road and track. .... (my left arm/wrist has far more important things to do than stir a metal pudding...) Look forward to meeting up soon. Kids are not a problem - but I can only eat one at a time, okay? Spec K

Jay, Joy! Joy, ,joy, ,joy.... I am so pleased - no, delighted - for you... you have now joined a select band (of one) who have succumbed to the persuasive charms (and dulcet Macc accents) of RRG. Body and soul, scene not herd... add a bit of f/i grunt and you'll be there... Being serious for a moment - neither of us should (or can?) fault the focus, dedication, professionalism and sheer enthusiasm that Rich, Gary and Andy show. Every time I've asked the question of Rich he's said "..not right, it's gonna be perfect..". If ever TGB ask customers whether they would vote for a select band of 'GT86 superdealers' I know where my cross would go ... (mind you, the 'tubby tech' is still chasing after me with a 10lb maul hammer, I'm told.... ) Okay. So you're going the '..tarts route..' with the bling of TRD bodykits and the like... I will admit, begrudgingly, it looks damn good but it's form over function and, with the best will in the world, it's a Scottish referendum - I can see no benefit in it.. .... stay with the BRZ side fenders, as they are both discrete and earn immediate respect from the true aficionados.. the chromed GT86 side badge is a septic sore despoiling a clean profile.. 'de-badging' is now not only streetworthy it's mega-cool, look at Harvey Keitel's GT86 feature advert for Direct Line... Go strut your stuff... you've earned! And in your wilds of East Anglia there's little else to celebrate... celery, beet and barley.. CBB's...) Spec K Spec K

My 3" AVO system (no exhaust manifold cats, replacement hi-flow second cat) was tested at Snet (87db) and at Croft (83db) I shall be trying a prototype AVO mid pipe with a resonator shortly... should make a difference, as at the moment it does get progressively louder on track as the welly goes down.. As I mentioned in another thread, noise is now a headline issue at a number of circuits.. what is acceptable on the road is no longer guaranteed to be acceptable at Snet, Croft, Rockingham, Mallory, etc. Spec K

I have just renewed my road fund tax... to be told that, from 01 October I won't need to display a tax disc. This would be a cracking place to display a Club sticker, in my view... any chance of getting one? Spec K

Oh my gawd.... .. if Faith likes it.... it's 'bling'.... ! AARRGGHH !!! <bangs head on table... bangs Keethos' head on table... throws wife out of back door and gives cat goodnight kiss in bed...> Spec K

Hmm... great minds with but a single thought, Keethos... ..... to personalise it you could leave a little rectangle (like where the car reg. is on a tax disc) in which to put one's username.. .... or, if you've got a huge username you could have a sunvisor... Spec K

As a bagpiper I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be in a pauper's cemetary in the back country. As I was not familiar with the backwoods I got lost and, being a typlcal man, I didn't stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt very bad and apologised to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looke down - the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do so I started to play.. The workers put down their lunches and began to gather round. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family or friends. I payed liek I've never played before... And, as I played 'Amazing Grace', the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. Our keen, heartfelt sorrow was evident to behold.. When I finished, and those wonderful emotional chords echoed through the trees, I packed away my pipes and headed for my car.. as I opened the door to my car I heard one of the workers murmur "I never seen nothing like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.." Rich - if it helps anyone local to London I can take HGV delivery in South Woodford (bottom of M11) and they can collect from me. Spec K

Good point, Kal... Dan, did you go for a 3inch exhaust system and, if so, what did you go with? Spec K

I would have said AP before Blyton Park trackday... but I was really impressed with the Cosworth brake kit.. and it's cheaper than AP (UK)... Cheap option? K-Sport 8 pot front calipers with Stoptech rotors all round. Use std calipers on rear, no problem. And they fit inside std 17" rims, although you will need spacers for OEM. My preferred pads are Ferodo DS2400 but not everyone gets on with them.. and they're not cheap... Spec K

Okay Mike - I'll give you half a point... .... but only if you stop calling me Shirley.... Spec K
