More likely to be the XXXXXXXLLLL size required...... <darfc> Spec K

Yep, I like 'em. Not sure they'd be useful for me - I usually get the stable boy to open the bonnet and put his head on the block to prevent it closing... Seems that Fensport have some in stock.. Spec K

Jay - a high flow cat should be okay if it's rated at 200cel (mine is and passed the MOT emission test). Spec K
-
The main benefit of manifold cats is that they heat up quicker and therefore emissions are better on start up. Standard front cats are wasteful of power - ask Mark at Abbey - I recommend you replace with a high flow secondary cat just after the overpipe. Works for me... Spec K

Mark - do you need it in the Sheffield area? If you need it locally I can pop down to you next week - I want to anway for a dyno run. Spec K

Alec, were these on a 'special buy' or something? Spec K

Christmas Drinks Down South - 22/12/13 - Grasshopper
Special K replied to faith's topic in Social Meets
Isn't our 'national' Xmas bash on the previous weekend Rob? Or am I getting totally confused again.. more than willing to buy you a pint at the Grasshopper, mate.. Spec K -
Ob1 - I'll put a 'link' to your clip. You were very quiet - I thought you'd fainted - exiting the top of Eau Rouge at 79mph on the warm-up lap... it's a real shame we lost the telemetry as I think our first flying lap was probably my fastest of the day.. Spec K

Thanks for the kind comments on the report. It was such a blast I haven't really done it justice but I'll publish the video on Youtube with Alex's help and when I get my pics I'll stick a few on here... video''ll be of myself with David Bailey, the instructor as the video with ob1kxb 'lost' the data capture after the first lap (sob). Lauren, the whole track is just awesome, there is nothing like it here in the UK. And it's not just the track - the surroundings, the closeness of the stands, the whole atmosphere is just so inspiring. I wish I'd been able to use my Yoko's instead of my road tyres, would have made a big difference I reckon. Ed/Chopper - if there's a few of us planning on doing the 'Ring I could be interested. It's one aspect I missed over the weekend, not having other GT86's/BRZ's to follow round and compare notes.. Alec - I've got the video with me, I'll give you a call.. Spec K
-
Not sure I could face the 'Ring, Ed... BaT are doing a 'Sat/Sun' in July/Aug at Spa.. but it's £750 which makes it a hefty sum when you add on all the other stuff. I'm going to study the Lotus website, they've got some pretty nifty bargains on there.. Spec K

Christmas Drinks Down South - 22/12/13 - Grasshopper

I should be able to make it.. depends on family commitments. (Yes, I know they're totally inconvenient but I do think of these things. No-one can accuse me of being self-centred over car matters... <cough>) Spec K -
Spotting it through the vin rouge wasn't easy, either... Spec K

Err.... he told me off ! Seems I got a bit close to a 'red bollard' , just before the last 90+ left before the straight to the pre start-line chicane.. (Lauren, I'm useless at corner names!) I can't read his comments on the 'dark side' so I have no idea.. but I was only driving 90% - I was knackered and the light was going.. (I 'data-logged' it - both with Instructor - Dave Bradley - and my own personal feeble efforts. I've got it as a .avi file - no idea how to load it here..) I'm about to write an 'experience' report... please add to it from your wealth of knowledge.. Spec K

Lauren, I met up with Johnnie (ObeWan) at Spa. (He lives in Belgium but I think he's Dutch..). Took him for a couple of round Spa as a passenger in my car... he came back to our hotel for a Coke (yes! Beau Site! Rene says 'allo allo'....). He started texting his Facebook mates who handn't bothered to turn up so I asked him what he was texting... ".. I am telling them that there were other skid marks apart from on the the track.." he said. Dunno what he meant.. (Anyone fancy a trackday at Jerez?) Spec K

I've been ofered a very clean 'W' reg Toyota Celica VVTI (standard model, 100k on the clock, not the GTbut it's been chipped and is in very good worknig order, taxed, MOT... and it's blue, har har...) for what I think is a reasonable price... but what is a 'reasonable price'? Any clues? Spec K

I trust we will get oodles of pix.. not only of the Richmobile but also the complete 'Meet'... Spec K

Thanks for the feedback. Very much along my own thoughts... about a grand... If one was looking for a reasonable 'transplant' what lump would you stick in it? The TSport? Spec K

Looking at the Nokian WR D3 (recommended above) I'm a bit shocked that 225/45/R17's are £104 each..! that's as much as F1 Eagles... Spec K

Mini- Surrey Meet & Abbey Motorsports Saturday 26th October (Round 2)

Talking of mpg... I got 33mpg bringing my turbo'd car back from Macclesfield (motorway, full boost) since when it's gone down to 27mpg commuting in East End traffic. That's pretty impressive to my mind.. okay, so it's not quite the 57mpg I was getting from RRG's Yaris Hybrid... I'll get a further readout en route to Spa on Friday. What are you averaging, Dave? Spec K -
Great stuff Ian.. it'll now go as well as it looks! I think a meet is necessary... anyone fancy an evening meet at Brands Hatch? Spec K

Jay, this is great! I am seriously impressed... I'm up for it when you're ready. Spec K -
There has been speculation over whether the GT86 will pass the DGA 2500 MOT exhaust emissions test if the primary cats are deleted (I have already published that primary cats alone meet the legal minimum) As promised, I had my (Fensport turbo'd) car tested yesterday. This is fitted with a 200 cel high-flow secondary cat supplied by and mounted in a Hayward & Scott exhaust system, engine management remapped by Adrian. On both 'high boost' and 'low boost' maps it met the requirements - Fast Idle Test - CO - 0.014 (max. 0.200) HC - 11 (max 200 ) Lambda - 1.011 (max 1.030) Natural Idle Test - CO - 0.016 (max. 0.300) Spec K
