Go on I dare someone: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Forester-BRZ-Toyota-GT86-Legacy-DIT-turbo-engine-conversion-/261567407184?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255

Why cheap out on suspension to build up your talent to then upgrade to coilovers? Suspension setup won't make you a better driver.... Get the better setup then learn how to drive with that. You can't gradually build up your talent to coilovers. Doesn't quite work like that... Unless i've missed something?

Macclesfield Mini Meet - Friday 12th September 2014
GT86Jay replied to Keethos's topic in Social Meets
I may well be at Macclesfield Thursday - Friday now. My car needed a new part which wasn't able to be tested / checked before we got it back on the road. If i'm around Friday keith i'll let you know and we can go out for something to eat / meet up or something. Touch and go at the moment as to when I''m picking the car up. What are you doing for JAE Keith? Service on the Friday then driving down to Kettering that day? -
Theres an FA20DIT available to buy on ebay £2500. But its not just a case of dropping in a new engine. ECU, Wireing, Air Con, Cooling, Power Steering etc etc. Probably more money than it's worth. And a Turbo or SC would produce more power, less money and more reliable.
-
It does seem the 3 cars I know of that have had the issue have been Autos. BRZ Rab was Auto? Hope you get it fixed soon! And do please still come to JAE. I might be there in the Yaris too. Touch and go with whether my car is going to be ready. We can be Yaris buddies.

No, the main problem is that it comes and is very difficult to replicate / cause it to happen manually. If you drive without realising it can do serious damage. But basically don't drive with the engine light on and if idle is rough!
-
In my opinion it's random. Turbo, Supercharger or mapping makes no difference. It's been seen with Turbo cars, Supercharged cars, NA Cars, Non-Mapped Cars and mapped cars. It's a fairly unknown problem as to whats causing it
-
I know a few that have had the issue without any Ecutek. It was suggested on the FT86 forum that it was due to excessive heat build up having issues with the VVTI controller which is located right beside the Engine. Turbo cars are obviously going to have higher temps in the engine bay. Keep up posted about how Toyota GB resolve it!

I think Coilovers are the better option for getting a setup which you can adjust and get to how you want. I know many people have gone from Dampers to Coilovers. Just get coilovers. A good set of coilovers will be far better and get you far more control and a more ideal setup than a set of dampers. I understood that dampers are installed if you lower the car to give you the option to stiffen them up if needed to due to the added lows. Coilovers actually give you control and way more precision on the handling of the car.

I spoke to a guy at the Toyota Spritn at the weekend that had a 780bhp GTR. He said the whole void warrenty thing with Launch Control was bit of a myth and it's down to the specific dealers. Older 2009 ones were more of a problem. But the new ones are fine and have no problem with warrenty. There was a huge law suite in the US about it. Again we only hear about the horror stories from the rouge dealers.

Most of it is to just raise awareness for the Charity. Lets admit, if the ALS ice bucket challenge wasn't going round social. Would anyone know what ALS / the ALS charity is?
-
Took 6 months? It was only a few months before you'd committed to a Avo Turbo kit. But we won't go there.
-
You've extensively test and driven all other Supercharged cars out there then? Because in my opinion out of all the SC cars i've driven. And I believe it's all types that are in the UK. In my opinion it's not the best one out there. Now opinion is fine, and you're allowed to state what kits are the best. If you have driven all other SC cars! And not just going the fact it's the one installed on your car.... Just because it's the one most people have / the most accessible one in the UK, does not make it 'the best'. Anyway, this is not our thread. So we'll leave it at that.

I thought you're temps were supposed to be really low now 'Cool to the touch' does it really get that hot still?

Dpends how much of the system you change. I think if you're going for the better setup of 2nd cat delete - non-resonated mid pipe and back box you're probably looking at around £600 - £700. You could just get the cat back system for less. But you'll nay be changing the sound. To gain any performance you want to remove the 2nd cat. Miltek is a good system and seems popular. Or you've got Cobra, HKS and Nvidia systems out there.
-
Welcome to the forum.. For me the best upgrade you can do for good money is exhaust. Make the car sound much better, more satisfying to drive and the car can sound awesome. If you go the 2nd Cat delete route you can free up a little bit of power and make it a little more responsive too. Enjoy the car, I remember the painful wait I had before getting my car!

Macclesfield Mini Meet - Friday 12th September 2014
GT86Jay replied to Keethos's topic in Social Meets
I will, but I also don't want to drive 5+ hours up there in a Yaris to then turn around and come back for another 5 odd hours. So even an over night Premier Inn might be beneficial. Will see whats dates are set / how it works. -
But the car wasn't moving forward when you done that test, Forcing air through with Fans is totally different to creating Aero / pressure spots when the car is travelling at 60+ mph. Also they look ridiculous. A bonnet should be flush. Not look like it doesn't shut properly. IMO.

Keith - Sounds good! Depending on when my Car is completed / ready for pickup. I may be down. Or may not. Hopefully it'll be before the 3rd but if it does work out that i'm around then i'll be up for coming out. I'd already planned to spend at least a day / night in Macc when I pick my car up. But will see how it works with dates / work. -
